They are available in a wide range of alternative materials which

TIMBER VENETIAN
Hardwood Timber is extremely durable & stable for Venetian Blinds
and are less likely to warp & dent.
Their dense grains provide an excellent smooth surface for staining or
painting. Not recommended for wet areas such as bathrooms &
laundries - Timber products may absorb moisture if present.
ALUMINIUM
Light, durable & stable cost efficient window treatment.
Also suitable for wet areas.
A huge benefit of Venetian Blinds is how low maintenance they are.
All you have to do is wipe them over with a cloth occasionally or use a
duster on them briefly. There’s nothing else that you have to worry
