2. Does the opening sequence for this film meet all the
key conventions?
• Avengers Opening Sequence (link here).
• In this opening sequence the music playing in the background is mainly
drums and string based which is used to create power and is used in
fighting scenes, this reflects the genre for this film which is Action
Adventure so this music is expected in this type of film.
• The typical convention of having the names of the main cast members,
production/directing/distributing/editing team are all shown in this
opening sequence.
• The fact it is an Action Adventure film is shown clearly as weapons and
armour are the main things featured in this opening sequence.
• However, the title of the film is not shown in this opening sequence.
3. “the opening sequence is considered
one of the most innovative of its era”
• I spotted that The Avengers title sequence presented a
very interesting idea to feature which was that every
superhero in this film has an iconic characteristic to
them (e.g. The Hulks green skin, Captain America’s
shield etc) and these iconic characteristics are shown
with the superhero who owns them actor/actresses
real name, “Some characters didn’t have much to go
on without using their actual bodies, and getting each
credit on each respective objects proved difficult
without making it feel disjointed.” however, I wouldn’t
say it was the most “innovative of its era”.
