2. Who are they?
We are often asked, “Where do the girls come from?”
The answer may surprise you. They are girls from your
city, your town, your state. They are girls who have
been raped and coerced, forced to prostitute them-
selves nightly. They are told if they don’t comply,
they or their families will be killed.
Sanctuary Ranch
The goal of Sanctuary Ranch is to provide healing to
these girls, to offer hope for a future, and to lead
through example.
Directional Paths
To assist the girls in re-structuring their lives, Sanctu-
ary Ranch uses a Directional Path model. With each
Direction the girl earns more privileges as she accepts
more responsibilities, mirroring the normal direction
of a responsible citizen in the community.
The staff at Sanctuary Ranch is committed to lead
through example. Therefore, the girls learn what is
appropriate dress, language, and mutual respect
through the staff’s example.
Although our girls do receive weekly therapy for their
trauma, we do not have placement for the highly
aggressive, violent, or girls who are non-compliant
with their psychotropic medications.
In addition, we offer Equine Therapy, dance, yoga,
sports, crafts, and other social outlets as the girls be-
come ready to experience them. On site education is
provided by Florida Virtual School to help the girls
reach their grade appropriate level.
Who we are
Sanctuary Ranch is a program designed specifically to
meet the needs of young girls who have been the
victims of Human Sex Trafficking. Located on over a
100 acres in Okeechobee County, we offer refuge and
privacy in our long –term group home environment.
The Facts
Human Sex Trafficking is a multi-billion dollar busi-
ness, not just across the seas, but here in America!
The numbers are staggering:
It is Estimated that 100-300,000 girls are being sex
trafficked annually.
These numbers represent domestic girls; in other
words, children right here in our own country.
Within the boundaries of the Continental United
States, California rates number 1 in Human Sex
Trafficking, Florida is number 3.
The target age for trafficking is 11-12 years old,
although as young as 7 years old have been
trafficked.

Why We Do This
We at Sanctuary Ranch feel strongly that no child is
a “Throw away.” Despite the issues that may arise
with highly traumatized youth, at the core of it is a
child that needs love, understanding, acceptance…
and hope.
How You Can Make A Difference
The easiest thing to do is to ignore the situation.
But that never solves anything. Now is the time for
action. You can be a vital part of our program by
referring a child, volunteering, or choosing to work
along side us at Sanctuary Ranch, offering hope and
a future in the lives of traumatized children.
