                   Identifydamaged books
                      Locate lost books
                       Spacing issues
                Books owned by another library
                   Books in wrong locations
                      Neat appearance
Directions

   Explain how to complete a shelf read
     LOC Classification System
     Potential problems
     Relocating
     Breaks




   “Whale Done!”

   Divide into sections and set goals
     Note   what sections take longer, more problems


   Mark section stopping points – post-its

   Sign up sheet
Make it a Success

   Divide the collection into sections
       Sign-up before starting


   Schedule student staffers to alternate shelf read
       Hour on, hour off

       Refreshments

   Areas being reviewed will be impacted

     Adjust   according to traffic level

       Use   markers and record locations

   With 4 student staff working in 4 hour shifts
     Goal:   3 days
       Gauge   depending on campus activities, staff schedule
