The Buzz: Joe Cornish, frequent partner in crime of Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Hot
Fuzz), makes his directorial debut with Wright producing. The film garnered major buzz at this
year's film festivals, winning the "Midnight Feature" award at SXSW and the audience award for
"Best Narrative" at the Los Angeles Film Festival. The world premiere at SXSW generated enough Experts
buzz that led to the film being picked up for a limited release in the US.

Weekend Guide
In his directorial debut, Cornish does a bang up job directing performances from a very diverse Review
cast. We start with what is possibly the most unlikely cast in an alien invasion film ever, featuring: 5
teenage gangsters, a nurse, a drug dealer, a gang leader, a stoner animal science enthusiast and Search for feature articles
two child gangster wannabes are just some of the many colourful characters you'll see here.
Add scares, clever storytelling and lots of wry British humour to the mix and we have a film that just
flat out entertains throughout in so many ways. At times, it's a stoner flick and sometimes it
resembles a gang war. The film transcends genres in a good way and something about this movie
just plain works.
It's not just entertainment too as Moses goes from an unlovable character to one who redeems
himself and gives the audience a big emotional pay off and a satisfying ending in the end. Smart,
funny, ambitious and most importantly, not pointless.
This movie has everything. And quite unfortunately for Hollywood, even with Super 8 and Cowboys
and Aliens this summer, the best alien movie this year is the rule eschewing humble British indie,
Attack The Block. Don't miss it.
