One of the best turn-around stories of 2011 has been
Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s AMP Energy/National Guard Chevrolet.
Team owner Rick Hendrick’s skillful management techniques
have led to the resurgence of the career of NASCAR’s most
popular driver. The move didn’t hurt Jeff Gordon or the
entire organization much either. The past few seasons have
been trying for Earnhardt but he has been able to utilize the
chemistry with Steve Letarte to improve on-track results and
make himself a viable contender for the championship.
This season has not been short on feuding drivers and
teams. The rough-and-tumble days of NASCAR are back,
and the mainstream media is taking notice. I always
know when something big has happened when my
stick-and-ball-sport-watching friends text my Sprint
phone asking for the inside story on what happened
at the track. The excitement generated by
drivers expressing their emotions can translate
to new fans to the sport we all love.
