Kingdome
 1. collection of drug by experienced
botanist.
 2. he has basic knowledge of
homoeopathic pharmacy

4. General rule of collection
 A. Character of plant-
 1. Medicinal plant should be collected
from where they grow- indigenous
 2. wild plant are more effective and
medicinal virtue than those cultivated
in garden.
 3. always prefer wild plant not
cultivated plant in botanical garden

5.  4. only healthy, well developed , fresh
(except from imported from out side)
perfect , vigorous plant to be used.
 5. which is free from dust, worms,
insect, and caterpillar nest, and not
eaten by worm and spoiled by mud,
or any discoloration, abnormal odor
or any sign of detritions

6.  6.plant which have greatest degree of
medicinal activity are those found n
their natural places of growth.
 7. Plant that through old age have
acquired a woody consistence ought
not to be used. All sickly looking,
partially withered or decayed plant
and root should be discarded.

7. B. Regarding time of collection
 1. They should be collected in –
 Fine , sunny , dry weather
 Early morning
 Just after disappearance of morning dew
 When their medicinal virtue is greatest
 2. They not collected in-
 During early morning dew
 After heavy rainfall
 During excessive heat of the day

8. c. Cleaning of drug substances
 After collection cleaning should be
done carefully, so that no parts of it is
eroded.
 Large amount of water should not
used for washing
 If necessary washing then little water
used

9. PARTCULAR RULE OF
COLLECTION
 As regards of plant the part of plant
which are used for preparation of
drug –
 Whole plant – in flowering season,
partly in flower and partly in bud
during sunny weather. Carefully clean
by shaking or little water used for
washing

10.  Roots-
 Annual- early in autum, as they die after
ripening of seed
 Biennials- in spring of 2nd yea
 Perennials- in the 2nd or 3rd year, before
they develop woody fiber.
 Roots should be cleaned without
using much water, free from moulds
and woody appearance

11.  Stems- after development of leaves
 Leaves- before, during and early part
of flowering time
 Leaves of biennials plant- in spring
of 2nd year, as soon as flowering stem
begins to shoot

12.  Young shoots- in spring, when
whole plant in full vigor
 Herbs- when they are fully
developed, cut just above root leaves
 Twigs- of present year growth only
 Flower- Partly in bud and partly in
blossom in dry weather

13.  Fruits- when they are fully ripe.
 Seeds- Succulent fruits seed
 Berries- use while fresh, only dried
fruits, seed or berries stored in well
closed glass container
 Bulbs- as soon as they mature, when
the leaves begins to decay

14.  Woods- in early spring or late in
autumn before the juice are not
exhausted and also from a mature
young tree
 Bark-
 Resinous- in early spring
 Non Resinous- late in autumn from
young vigorous trees
 Narcotic Plants- while in bloom/just
befor or when in bloom

 Never be imported in powder form
 Obtained from reputed firm and their
natural forms or state
 Proper identification should be carried
 For exporting vegetable product to
other country they should be tied in
loose bundles and then hanging in
the shade away from direct sun light,
rain etc . When dry then pack

16. ANIMAL KINGDOME
 General rules-
 1. must be identified by zoologist
 2. selection of animal must be perfect
 3. animal healthy and hygienic
coming from good stock
 4. animal substance must be genuine,
not spoilt by dirt or worms,
decomposed

from healthy animals which must be
examined by vet
 6. when anima substance not avilable
nearby then take from reliable
sources and never in powder forms
 7. they should be protected from
light, heat and moisture

24. Collection of snake venoms-
 1. Elaps corallinus- the venom
collected by pressing a butter plate
against the fangs or by letting the
snake bite through cloth covering a
wide mouth bottle.
 2. Vipera and Crotalus horridus-
the venom collected by compressing
the gland when the serpent is either
pinioned in a frame or under
chloroform

25.  3. Lachesis- venoms is obtained
from living snake by stunning it with
a blow and then collecting the poison
on suger of milk by pressing the
fangs upwards against the poison sac
 4. Naja- the venoms is obtained by a
device by compressing the gland of
serpent unde choloroform

26. Collection of poison of toad
(Bufo rana)
 The live toad fastened to a slab of
cork by four strong pins struck
through the web of the feet. Ten the
poles of an induction apparatus in
action are slowly drawn over the back
of the animals, where upon the
poison exudes from the dorsal gland
of toads, which is removed with a
small horn made knife

27. MINERAL KINGDOM
 1. They collected very carefully from
reliable sources and after thoroughly
tested in analytical laboratory before
the preparation of medicine
 2. They should not be obtained in
powder forms.

28. NOSODES
 1. They should be collected after
proper diagnosis of disease
 They obtained from standard
serological lab who deals with
manufacturer of the culture of these
organism

 These should be collected from
slandered serological lab
 The endocrine product and enzymes
may be collected from slaughter houses

31. IMPONDERABILIA
 The rules are given in Pharmacopoia
 The magnet can be had from physical
lab
 In case of Luna full moon is sugested
 For X ray purpose the respective
chemical testing lab may be
contacted
 Potentisation of imponderabilia should
be done very carfully
