Jody Foley LCSW encourages that next step in adolescent development for women... moving from various forms of low self esteem and unhappiness/depression to self confidence and self determination. The girls there love the group and endorse this new direction - going for the real girl, the self determined girl, the girl moving from stuck to moving forward.

1. Depression impacts approximately 20% of adolescent girls ages 12-17. In fact, research shows one in four girls will experience at least one major depressive episode before adulthood thereby increasing their desire for isolation and lowering their self-esteem.
Feelings of isolation and depression can be significantly decreased through therapy, medication, and being accepted and understood by others. The less alone teens feel the less likely they are to engage in negative and self-harming behaviors. “The Wallflowers” is a psycho-education and support group designed to provide treatment as well as support and acceptance for participants.
