DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
a. Enhanced basic education curriculum for Grades 1 to
3 and 7 to 9 in SY 2014
b. 19 supported languages for MTB-MLE from
Kindergarten to Grade 3
c. Complete K to 12 Curriculum
d. Revised assessmentsystem and policies after final
and complete curriculum is in place
e. Intensified coordination and planning for nationwide
SHS implementation in SY 2016

Getting Your Provisional SHS Permit
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
1. All current private high schools and HEIs may apply.
2. Required documents will differ based on whether your school
has been previously recognized by DepEd, CHED, or TESDA.
3. All applications for provisional SHS permit must be submitted via
email: kto12@deped.gov.ph.
4. Make sure you submit all applicable requirements on or before
April 15, 2014 for speedier processing.
5. Expect on-site validation (e.g. facilities verification) from the
DepEd Regional or School Division Office.
6. Qualified schools will get their provisional permits within the
year.

Expanding E-GASTPE through the
SHS Voucher Program
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
a. The SHS Voucher Program will extend the support and
benefits of E-GASTPE to SHS providers.
b. It will assist students who finish Grade 10 in..
1. ..a public HS
2. ..an ESC school
3. ..a private school and who require financial aid
c. All private schools with SHS permits may accept these
vouchers.
d. SHS Voucher Program will begin in SY 2016; no SHS
funding assistance prior to 2016.

Addressing transition concerns of HEI
labor and management
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
a. DOLE, DepEd, CHED, and TESDA are in the process of
finalizing the policy guidance on these concerns.
b. There are two outstanding issues for decision:
1. If a teaching or non-teaching personnel transfers from
higher to basic education, will he/she be able to retain the
same rank, compensation and benefits?
2. If a teaching or non-teaching personnel refuses the offer to
transfer to SHS and leaves the institution, will this be
considered as retrenchment or redundancy?
c. DOLE and CHED are studying the extent of potential
displacement of HEI personnel.
d. Joint issuance will be released within Q1 of 2014.

On Offering SHS before SY 2016
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
1. SHS before SY2016 is voluntary for schools and
students.
2. Your schools may offerSHS beginning SY 2015.
3. Schools that submitted their letter of intent or
application in 2013 to begin SHS in SY 2014 will be
allowed to proceed if they meet DepEd requirements
and standards.
4. HEIs must be ready to offerthe new General Education
(GE) curriculum* to accommodate SHS graduates who
will enrol in 2016 or 2017.
