DNA profiling was used to determine which of five suspects matched DNA found at a crime scene. The class completed a polymerase chain reaction to amplify DNA segments and ran an agarose gel electrophoresis to analyze DNA fragments from the crime scene and suspect samples. By comparing the band patterns between the samples, it was concluded that suspect number three's DNA matched the DNA from the crime scene, identifying them as responsible for the crime.
