Response From The Renegade Community

What do you get when a Renegade sends you a letter that reflects own her own insights, frustrations and a deeply thought out, eye-opening personal depiction of what her Renegade experience and professional life looks like. THIS. Following is a partial look at the overwhelming response that her letter received from the Renegade community.

Response From The Renegade Community
Back on September 10th we published and article
here on Linkedin entitled - A Letter From A Renegade.
It’s an enlightening letter that I received from
Allana Williamson, a Renegade who made my day by
imparting a great deal of valuable insight, perspective
and wisdom in her own words that I simply felt
compelled to share with my community.
The letter reflected own her own insights, frustrations
and a deeply thought out, eye-opening personal
depiction of what her Renegade experience and
professional life looks like.
Following is a partial look at the overwhelming
response that her letter received from the Renegade
community.
“This line stole the article - "Just care.
Authentically, legitimately, sincerely,
whole-heartedly care.” Kudos to
Allana Williamson for expressing this
and the best part - "seemed rather
trivial". Renegades are not looking
for glory, boasting, or aiming for a
fixed target. Genuine care about
others and see others flourish
around them is the highest
satisfaction and drive to move
forward.”
“Alok- that’s a great summary - I
wonder if what connects us is our
capacity for empathy? I know, I feel
the fear around me - I can literally feel
it ebb and flow within an organization.
Feeling others in fear or pain or
suffering is debilitating for me because
I care about ppl and I can’t figure out
how it’s not debilitating for others?.”
“Allana Williamson has done an
exceptional job capturing the feelings/
thoughts and what drives a #renegade!
Maybe others felt the same way but it
was as if I could have written the same
letter (nodding my head in agreement
as I read) which speaks to the point
Steve Diedrick is making in this article
as well as the entire #renegade series.
This is a widespread issue and I believe
it's because the renegade view/
mindset is not perceived as a "safe bet"
to leaders who avoid any sort of risk at
all costs though it's actually calculated
and thought out to a renegade. Just
because we can't see craters on the
moon with our naked eye doesn't mean
that they don't exist...we simply need
advanced technology to see them.
Continued…
“Similarly, renegades view and analyze
things through a different lens as Steve
stated in a previous article
(Kaleidoscope) allowing them to
provide an in-depth multi-faceted
assessment that drives growth.
Renegades are wired to care, want to
make a difference and WILL! Kings
don't want to turn over the keys to
their castle and most renegades aren’t
asking for that but making a COPY of
the key and giving it to a renegade will
result in finding rooms you didn't know
existed (some might be filled with
gold). In business, the result is growth,
sense of greater purpose, being
relevant longer and your employees
are excited/loyal because there’s
personal/professional growth
Continue…
“opportunity inside your company so
they're not looking outside which
results in a reduction in organizational/
industry knowledge. Great Job Allana
and Steve!”
“Jeffrey Oathout, I couldn’t have said
it better.
Mic drop!! 🎤🎤🎤 “Renegades are
wired to care, want to make a
difference and WILL! Kings don't want
to turn over the keys to their castle
and most renegades aren't asking for
that but making a COPY of the key and
giving it to a renegade will result in
finding rooms you didn't know existed
(some might be filled with gold).”
“Thanks Steve for sharing the letter
and thank you Allana for putting it so
well.. Everything that is said here
resonated very well with me especially
the two lines - “When a flower doesn’t
bloom, you fix the environment in
which it grows, not the flower" -
"Just care. Authentically, legitimately,
sincerely, whole-heartedly care." I find
it very interesting working for so many
years in large corporations that this
"caring" is so rare to find!! Most people
are out there to "win" it for themselves
but renegades do it for their people, for
the team, for the organization pouring
their heart and soul into it, very less
often for themselves - that is why they
don't sing their praises but it is always
"WE did it" for them.”
“In 1979 I decided to study EE in the
Dominican Republic, at the time the
one EE school had a tiny group of
renegades enrolled, back then you
either studied to become a lawyer, a
civil engineer, an architect or a doctor,
I remember my father asking me is I
would become a TV repair man. In 1985
upon graduation I decided to go
overseas for post graduate studies,
having little in terms of finances to
attend US schools I made a call to the
dean to the EE school at University of
Puerto Rico, back then they had no
masters program but there was one
other person interested, the dean
somehow agreed to launch a pilot
Masters program, 5 of us enrolled.
When I look back at the delta steps of
Continue…
“my life and career I have come to
realize what Allana in her wonderful
letter and Steve with his articles are
highlighting, renegades do not see
things with negativity but as
opportunities. There's no fear of failure
but a desire to try and succeed, to
recognize how to maximize output of
those around you and to recognize the
moments that are truly important when
they appear, and to do all of this
naturally and instinctively. The world is
full of fake things, renegades are
WYSIWYGs. Yes, renegades try to fix
the environment to make flowers bloom.
After a long career my focus now is to
try to bring the renegade out of the
people I work with, I really believe
everyone one has a bit of this in them,
we should all try to mine it.”
“Thank you Steve and Allana for
sharing this! In some flower patches,
the Renegade is revered and tended
to, while in other flower patches the
Renegade is a casualty of mass
application of weed killer.
Unfortunately, I think a lot of us spend
too much time and effort trying to
figure out how to thrive in the weed
killer environment.
“Steve Diedrick - based upon how you
posed a question above, I'm even more
curious and wanna explore something.
Your question: would a renegade see
another renegade as being an "opposing
force"? From my own experience:
- Encountering another renegade who
knows and appreciates they are a
renegade, the result is a "force
multiplier" situation
- Encountering another renegade who
executes and emotes as a renegade yet
isn't totally aware they are a renegade,
an opportunity opens to sync into a
"force multiplier"
- Encountering another renegade who
just executes in renegade fashion yet
isn't aware they are a renegade,
nurturing into "full renegade mode"
Continue…
“is paramount (and totally fun!) I’m
saying, in a long-winded and round-
about way (not the Yes song, sorry), I
do not see an opposing force but a
force multiplier. :) (oh, and the lyrics
to Yes - Roundabout are quite in
alignment right now... the song was on
when I started to write this post ...)”
“Loved this article, and especially this
line: "Just care. Authentically,
legitimately, sincerely, whole-heartedly
care." It's taken me years to realize
that this is actually and strangely very
rare in large corporations. “
