 Testing for COVID-19 has tremendous value when it comes to trying to contain
the spread of the COVID virus. There are some clear indications that which
test you should get and some not so clear reasons.
What types of test are available?
FDA Approved Rosch Diagnostics Antibody COVID-19 Test with ~98%
Sensitivity Results. There are essentially three broad categories of testing:
1. Antigen test (rapid Diagnostic Test
 One type of rapid diagnostic test (RDT) detects the presence of viral proteins (antigens)
expressed by the COVID-19 virus in a sample from the respiratory tract of a person. Rapid
PCR Covid test Jacksonville, fl
 In COVID-19, the sensitivity of these tests might be expected to vary from 34% to 80%. Like
RT-PCR, the rapid antigen detection test too seeks to detect the virus rather than the
antibodies produced by the body. While the mechanism is different, the most significant
difference between the two is time. The RT-PCR COVID test takes a minimum of 2–5 hours
including the time taken for sample transportation.
 “These specifications limit the widespread use of the RT-PCR test and also impedes quick
augmentation of testing capacity in various containment zones and hospital settings,” the
ICMR advisory states. In a reliable rapid antigen detection test, the maximum duration for
interpreting a positive or negative test is 30 minutes.

2.PCR Molecular Test.
 Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is a laboratory technique
combining reverse transcription of RNA into DNA and amplification of specific
DNA targets using polymerase chain reaction (PCR). It is primarily used to
measure the amount of a specific RNA. The swab samples are used in a lab test
to identify the presence of Sars-CoV2 virus. PCR tests are used during an active
infection when the virus is in the body even if the person has no symptoms. PCR
COVID Test, Jacksonville can be done by booking an appointment and directly
walk in to the lab or via Home Collection Kit.

3. Antibody (Serology) Testing
 A patient’s blood sample is used in a lab test to check whether there are any
antibodies present that match and bind to the viral antigen. The most notable
antibodies are IgM and IgG. IgM antibodies are generally detectable
 several days after initial infection, although levels over the course of infection
and beyond are not well characterized. IgG antibodies generally become
detectable 10–14 days after infection and normally peak around 28 days after
infection.
 This pattern of antibody development seen with other infections, however with
IgM sometimes occurring after IgG, together with IgG or not occurring at all.

Who should get a rapid test?
 Rapid tests are considered as most accurate whether the patient who is
having the symptoms of COVID-19. While the rapid test can give you the
results very quickly, but the results may not always be accurate. PCR test for

What does a false negative or false positive
mean?
 In those who don’t have the symptoms, the false negative rate — means that
my test is negative but I actually have the disease can be as high as 50%. This
can have a tremendous consequences as we try to contain the spread of
COVID-19.
 The false positive rate — means that my test is positive but I do not really
have the disease — is quite low. So, if you test positive from a rapid test, it is
more likely you do have that disease.

negative rapid test. This is especially true if you’ve had a high-risk exposure.

COVID-positive individual in a 24-hour period and you have been within 6 feet
of this individual.
