1) English literature, art, cinema, theatre, music,
philosophy, and architecture continue to be
influential and well regarded throughout the
world. Whether it is a Hollywood movie,
Monty Python, Shakespeare, or listening to
the Beatles, unfortunately a great deal to
these works is lost in translation. Developing
your English is great way to enhance your
connection to the culture of English speaking
world.
3. 2) Speaking English will greatly improve your
travel experiences. English is the official
language in approximately 88 countries
including the United States, Canada,
Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain,
Ireland, and many Caribbean countries.
4. 3)Learning English will increase job
opportunities and remuneration. Many
economists believe that people that speak
English generally earn more money than those
that do not.
5. 4) English is the dominant language. When
combining native and non-native speakers it is
believed to be the most commonly spoken
language in the world. English has replaced
German as the language of science, and
replaced French as the language of diplomacy.
A working knowledge of English is a
requirement in many fields such as
computing, aviation, and medicine.
6. 5) English will continue to grow in importance.
English has official status in four of the world’s
most populous countries: India, Nigeria,
Pakistan, and the Philippines. Further, the
United States will continue to have the largest
economy in the world for a great number of
years. As of today’s date, the United States
economy is over twice as large as China’s
economy.
