Father Mychal Judge was a Roman Catholic priest and chaplain of the New York City Fire Department. When he heard about the attacks on September 11th, he rushed to Ground Zero to comfort and help the firefighters. As the fires raged around him, he tried to comfort and save the souls of the firefighters working to save lives. Tragically, Father Judge was killed after being hit by debris while administering last rites to a dying firefighter without wearing a protective helmet. The firefighters from his neighboring firehouse recovered his body and laid him to rest at a local church before returning to continue their rescue efforts at Ground Zero, as their duty required.
