Emotion has come from the Latin word “Emovere” means move/ motion.
Emotion is a feeling which is private & subjective.
Emotion is an effective state of consciousness in which joy, sorrow, fear, hate or like are experienced.
It is a strong feeling deriving from one’s circumstances, mood or relationships with others.
Emotions can be managed through Emotional Intelligence
EI consists of 2 important aspects – EQ & IQ
EQ – Emotional Quotient is related to the abilities to notice & manage perceptions, problem solving, decision making & different feelings etc.
IQ – Intelligence Quotient consists of different types of abilities such as verbal cues, math, reasoning etc.

3. DEFINITION
According to Daniel Goleman emotions refer to a feeling
with its distinctive thoughts, psychological & biological
states & ranges of propensity to act.
It can be defined as a mental state that arises
spontaneously rather than through conscious effort & is
often accompanied by psychological changes & its
feeling.
4. TYPES OF EMOTIONS
Fear – It is an emotion experienced in anticipation of
some specific pain or danger. Fear creates anxiety,
nervousness, concern & panic.
Enjoyment – Happiness, joy, delight, pride,
gratification & satisfaction.
Love – Acceptance, friendliness, trust, kindness,
affinity & devotion.
8. MEANING
It is the ability to express & control our own emotions
& respond to the emotions of others.
It is the ability to understand, interpret & respond to
the emotions of others.
It is the positive way of managing emotions to relieve
stress, communicate effectively, overcome challenges &
defuse conflict.
It helps in achieving great success in both personal &
professional life.
9. COMPONENTS OF EI

12. SELF ASPECTS
Self-awareness - The ability to recognize and
understand personal moods and emotions and drives,
as well as their effect on others.
Self-regulation - The ability to control or redirect
disruptive impulses and moods, and the propensity to
suspend judgment and to think before acting.
13. SOCIAL ASPECTS
Social awareness – It is the active process of seeking
out information about what is happening in the
communities around you. A greater awareness of social
norms and problems leads to better understanding
and better solutions.
Relationship management - It is the
Proficiency in managing relationships and building
networks, and an ability to find common ground and
build rapport.
