autismo no haya existido siempre.

COGNICIÓN, EMOCIÓN Y SINTOMATOLOGÍA EN ADOLESCENTES
ESCOLARIZADOS
A characterisation of adolescents is presented in terms of positive and negative
affect, automatic negative and positive thoughts and depressive
symptomatology. An aleatory sample of 1096 adolescents 12 to 16 years old,
from public and private schools from the city of Medellín
(Colombia) was selected. 55.7% of the sample were male. The results show
that male and female adolescents differ on the three evaluated variables. At the
cognitive level, female adolescents showed more automatic negative thoughts;
at an emotional level they showed higher levels of negative affect and more
depressive symptoms. Male adolescents showed more positive thoughts, higher
levels of positive affect and fewer depressive symptoms. This profile was more
clear in the subgroup of adolescents with scores over the 75 percentile in the
scale of depressive symptoms excepting negative affect.

Edgar Allan Poe
His tale of horror, "The Black Cat" (1843).2 In that story, a male narrator
scheduled to be executed in 24 hours as punishment for the murder of his wife
attempts to describe the events that lead to his downfall. After an uneventful
childhood marked only by his "tenderness of heart" and a few blissful years of
marriage, the narrator's behavior turns ugly (Poe, "Black Cat" 597).[3] His
actions include carving out the eye of a household cat with a penknife; hanging
that cat by the neck from the limb of a tree; attempting to murder a second cat
that mysteriously resembles the first save for a haunting white blemish on its
breast; burying an axe into the brain of his wife and hiding her body behind a
wall in the basement; and, in a final moment of bravado in front of policemen
investigating the disappearance, tapping his cane against the concealing wall
only to be answered by the wailing cat--the decomposing corpse is discovered
along with the trapped cat that had been feeding on the human scraps.

Paulo Coehlo
Best-selling author Coelho's international hit novel is now in audio. According to
Islamic tradition, the term zahir refers to something or someone that dominates
one's thoughts. Coehlo's protagonist, Paulo, is a successful writer whose zahir
is his wife, Esther, a journalist and news correspondent covering the Middle
East. After she disappears without a trace and a police investigation is
launched, Paulo is left with many questions and doubts. He sets out to find her
and embarks on a journey from Paris to Central Asia, discovering in the process
many things about himself. As usual, this producer did a great job selecting
strong and experienced voices to represent the array of characters in this book.
Juan Guzmán (narrator) and Eduardo Serrano (Paulo), for instance, execute
their characters in a thorough way, adding emotion and the appropriate pace to
their characters, giving strength to the narrative. The subtle music and sounds
(e.g. footsteps) make the listening experience more realistic.
