opportunity, and new wildlife. They found much more
then what they expected.
3. Virginia born,
Meriwether Lewis and William
Clark were soldiers in the
Ohio army together. Lewis,
experienced with the west and
an army officer, selected
Clark as co-captain for the
expedition. Together, the set
off to explore the new
territory gained by the
Louisiana Purchase.
4. Lewis and Clark changed the definition for exploration,
it was no longer about conquest, but about active
learning and knowledge. Expanding our minds, their
journey taught us of new species of plant and animals,
pathways, water routes, cultures, and countless more.
For the first time in history, people were getting
involved in history again.
