This document introduces characters called The Natives who come from the planet Tagaldi. Tagaldi's atmosphere is sustained by its inhabitants feeding on technology through glowing orbs called Torbs. However, Tagaldi is running low on resources as technology dwindles. The Natives must send representatives to Earth, rich with technology, to collect digital resources and save their planet from destruction. Three initial Native character designs are presented to symbolize traits of Generation Z: one with two heads for separate online/offline personas; one with multiple eyes and arms for multitasking; and one with a screen for a head to represent technology's grip on their single-minded perspective.

2. INTRODUCTION This slide show will introduce initial design concepts for characters and explain the characteristics, backgrounds and personalities of each character.

3. WHO ARE THEY? First an introduction to who the characters are. The characters are called ‘The Natives’. These characters are called the natives for two reasons. First reason is that generation Z have been dubbed ‘Digital Natives’ and second of all they come from a planet called ‘TAGALDI’. They are the natives of this planet and therefor are known as the Natives … simple

4. TAGALDI The planet Tagaldi is a peaceful planet were the natives have inhabited for centuries. Tagaldi is a mass of digital technology and, like Earth, has an atmosphere but with a difference. The Natives primary source of nutrition is technology and by feeding on technology they stay alive by keeping their ‘Torbs’ shinning bright (all will be explained). Unfortunately after centuries of feeding on technology planet Tagaldi is running out of resources and life on the planet is being threatened and complete distinction is imminent.

5. To Earth …… The only option for The Natives is to seek out new places to get resources to save their species. When discovered that planet Earth is booming with technology and digitalization, The natives send a brave group of Natives to earth to seek out new technologies, collect them and bring them back to Tagaldi and save the planet.

6. The characters All these characters are in initial design stages and may change quite substantially throughout the project. Lets meet them ….

7. Character bio 1: Character has two heads the two heads Symbolize the 2 different personas generation z have. The left head is their online persona. With its square eye and jagged mouth it relates to constantly being switched on or linked up. The second head is to show gen z’s real life persona. The tail is the glowing ‘Torb’ which it uses to feed on technology.

8. Character 2 bio: This character is designed with multiple eyes and arms. This is to symbolize that generation Z are a generation of multitasking. As clearly stated in the litriture review, generation z are able to balance various technology and tasks at once. The eyes more specifically indicate that this character has many different outlets to see everything just like generation Z as they have so many different means of finding information and communicating.once again this character has a ‘Torb’ the same as explained with the previous character.

9. Character bio 3: The 3rd character is designed to show the one directional views of generation Z. his head is not made of flesh or material. It is a cylindrical screen that imprisons one eye. This is to symbolize the grasp that technology has on generation Z, whether your of the opinion that digitalism is a good or bad thing, technology is ubiquitous and anyone who ignores it will be left behind. The one eye represents the one sighted view of generation Z about technology and how it gives them most of the information and entertainment they need.
