The Bob Ross Painting Method
Bob Ross and his happy little friends have introduced millions of PBS viewers to the world of art.
Bob may be gone but his gentle legacy of painting technique continues to charm and instruct. Not
only are there books and DVDs available, but a full line of Bob Ross painting supplies are sold on–
line and in select venues. There are also over 3000 certified Bob Ross instructors nationwide and
internationally.
How Does He Do That?
The Bob Ross painting method is the wet–in–wet technique. Artists have used this method for
hundreds of years, and for the oil painter is the fastest method to use.
The Bob Ross oil paints are specially formulated to meet the consistencies he prefers in the various
colors on his palette. He also has a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This results in the edges remaining crisp while the bulk of the mountain takes on a misty, grayed
appearance, due to the blending of the background paint into the dark of the mountain paint.
Evergreen Trees
Just as with clouds, Bob uses the fan brush to paint evergreen trees. The paint is heavily loaded onto
a fan brush. Using the edge lay a very fine vertical line to represent the treetop. Use the corner to
dab tiny bits of paint to represent the uppermost branches of the tree on the sides of the vertical line.
As the artist progresses down the trunk, he applies more pressure and uses more of the edge of the
brush. Use a choppy, erratic motion to emulate the uneven, jagged shapes of the evergreen. The
underlying layer of paint will blend with the tree color as the brush runs out of paint. Add more as
necessary, but do not try to keep all the branches the same color. This is representational, and not
meant to be graphically correct. It is the essence of the tree and there is no need to go for
authenticity.
Wildlife
In the Ross method of painting wildlife, preparation is different from painting landscapes. The
canvas is thinly coated with grey gesso and allowed to dry thoroughly. Draw or transfer the subject
to the canvas using graphite carbon paper.
Rather than using the wet in wet technique, this painting starts with an underpainting of the animal
using grey, black and white acrylic paint. The student proceeds with oils

Scene In The Northwest Portrait Of John Lefroy Analysis
The painting "Scene in the Northwest: Portrait of John Henry Lefroy" was painted circa 1846,by
Paul Kane who was an Irish born Canadian painter. The size of the painting is 20.0 in × 31.0 in and
the medium is oil on canvas. This painting now is displayed in
Thomson Collection of Canadian Art in the Art Gallery of Ontario. The main subject of the painting
is to describe John Henry Lefroy on his expedition in Canada in winter. There are three people and
two dogs in the painting: John Lefroy, the main character dressed in bright colors, stood in front of a
sled, a man walked toward tent in the distance, and a native woman stood beside that tent.
The colors in the painting are light. The background colors are white, green and blue, which

Comparison And Contrast Of Art
Comparison and Contrast of Art
Art is able to transport its viewer through time and connect us as a community. Audiences are able
to infer the content and context of the artwork. Art displayed through different mediums and about
different topics can share many similarities and draw connections between one another. Exodus,
created by Shelby Lechman (2015), uses oil paint on canvas to depict a young boy and father in a
train car, leaving their home in Hungary during the time of the Hungarian Revolution (fig.1). Back
into the Earth: Creation and the Interpretation of Meaning, created by Tamara Himmelspach (2015)
is a series of 11 prints and a physical dress displaying the designer in a jingle dress representing the
traditions of the Ojibwa culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, further connection in context and content can be developed when analyzing the
connection of the works roots and art in history. Exodus exhibits the reality of human suffering as a
result of war and oppression during the Hungarian Revolution. The historical relevance of this work
dives into a deeper significance than its basic face value. The oppression and struggle for power
signified in Exodus also translates into Figure 2. Both cultures, in their own time have faced their
traditions and way of life being threatened. As Hungarian citizens are forced to leave their country,
Ojibwa members were constantly threatened by European immigrants. The human experience is key
in understanding and studying art. Besides the main styles and usage in appearance, the connection
to a point in time and the influence of that time allows the audience to connect with the artist and the
characteristics of the artwork. Audiences are able to connect past themes to present day issues, such
as the difficulties facing many Syrian refugees and the numerous Native American women who have
gone missing. The importance of home and culture is evident in both works despite their different
purposes and artistic modes. Limits are explored and barriers of past, present are future are removed
when audiences are able to interpret the work from any point in time and understand the significance
of its visual and non–visual means.

Essay on Frank Stellar
Frank Stella
An American Artist
Frank Stella is an American painter who remains poplar after almost four decades of work. He was
born in 1936 and studied at the Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts under Patrick Morgan
and at Princeton University under William Seitz and Stephen Greene. After 1958 he lived in New
York. He came to the fore in the 1960s as one of the most inventive of the new school of Post–
Painterly Abstraction, a reaction against Abstract Expressionism. He was then exhibited widely in
New York, Los Angeles, and elsewhere. A retrospective exhibition in 1970 was held under the
auspices of the International Council of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He began as one
of many post war minimalist painters, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His work in this respect had affinities with the primary structures of some minimal artist and with
the All–Over style of painting in which attention is evenly diffused over the whole canvas, leaving
no outstanding points of interest brought together by balance, harmony, rhythm, and so on (Osborne
521). Until his last month at Princeton, Stella had painted in a style that was derived from de
Kooning, Frankenthaler, and Kline, and he would subsequently absorb influences from Gottlieb and
Motherwell. At the end of his time at Princeton he entered on a period of rapid development in
which he produced compositions containing single or multiple box forms placed in varying contexts
of bands or stripes. These pictures make up the bridge, or transition, to the Black series in which his
profile as an independent painter was established. Many of these transitional paintings reflect
Stella's excitement with the ambiance of New York City. In Coney Island, for instance, a blue
rectangle floats on a field of alternating red and yellow horizontal bands. In Astoria it is possible to
see a stage beyond Coney Island, for in this work the geometrical forms have been overpainted to
produce a design made up entirely of horizontal bands (Rubin 10). In his early work, Stella was a

Alvin's metal easel gives you peace of mind while you're working. It lets you add meticulous details
to your painting. It allows you to work peacefully without unintentional wobble. Have you ever
struggled with a shoddy easel? We have! When it's a little breezy, light winds topple your paintings.
Mid–size and large canvases won't stay put, and you're forced to angle them against the wall. When
you're trying to finish your masterpiece, you have to hold the easel with one hand and paint with the
other. These are the burdens a substandard telescoping easel afflicts you with.
Alvin's laboratory–tested aluminum easel is different. The finely crafted pivoting feet stabilize this
telescoping easel on uneven ground. Their spring–loaded, locking canvas support seals your artwork
in position. Your canvases are safer with their robust rectangular profile frame. They have not one,
but two sets of shelf brackets that fit more canvases and pad sizes. Moreover, their reinforced 17.5
inch canvas shelf includes a panel groove that grips all types of canvases.

French Artists: Paul Cezanne
Paul Cezanne (Smith, P, 1996) is a southern France artist, born in 1839, it is known his picture space
comes across as dense and hard to read to the public eye, however, when looking at Plate 1.3.20 and
Plate 1.3.22 we can see many similarities and differences by looking at the delineation, modelling,
picture space and brush work. Plate 1.3.22 is able to illustrate work dated between the years of
1904–06, this is a modern canvas compared to that of plate 1.2.20 which was completed in 1887.
The brushwork on plate 1.3.22 is able to gratify two alternative demands, this being both Cezanne's
sense of the relative standards in light and colour, alongside the concentrated impression of the
physical landscape he was looking at. Both plates express ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This in itself is able to separate the worlds of the spectator from the literal surface itself, as touching
this canvas would encourage a break in illusionistic properties, as the frontier between the two
worlds would have clashed. Within imagine 1.3.22 we can perceive a rough delineation of Mont
Sainte–Victoire, this has an alternative colour scheme from the outer scene which displays negative
conditions similar to 1.3.20. When looking at the modelling in both plates, we can note these are
oppositions of each other. In plate 1.3.20 the modelling exchanges from the bottom left corner to the
top right, whereas, plate 1.3.22 moves across from the bottom right corner, to the top left. One
similarity we can see in the two plates is that the colour shades indicate negative conditions due to
the murky and dark shading throughout the colour scheme. Overall, both images by Paul Cezanne,
are able to be viewed in different lights when confronted by the public eye. The artist has been able
to get across his views by altering the: Delineation, Modelling, Picture Space, Picture Plane, Literal

Art Appreciation
Art cannot be classified into one category, style, or period. Art is very diverse, ranging from the
beginning of the human being to today. Through the years, art has evolved dramatically from stick
figures and two dimensional animals to three dimensional sculptures and intricate paintings. The
artwork featured at the Seattle Art Museum shows many different types of art and features several
different periods in which these artworks were created. Two pieces of art that stuck out the most at
the museum was Albert Bierstadt's Puget Sound on the Pacific Coast and Robert Arneson's Pool
with Splash. Both of these pieces of art showed character and seemed to almost speak to the viewer.
Although there are many different periods ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pool that Robert formed using the ceramic media is three dimensional in form and is closely
shaped like a lima bean. The "water" of the pool, is made up of many different pieces of ceramic and
has several different shades of blue and green. In order to represent the movement of water within
the pool, Robert used complimentary blues and greens together and slightly swirled them to make it
look close to how water moves. Each piece of the pools water fits together like a tight puzzle. They
are numbered so that the colors and shapes can be set together perfectly while on display. In the
center of the pool, is a large white ceramic "splash". Robert gave this piece curves and form to
represent the splash of water as if someone was jumping into the pool and creating a huge
backsplash. The edge of Roberts Pool with Splash is created to look like the cement barrier that
contains the water of the pool. He formed each piece to look like a block which forms the shape of
the lima bean pool. These parts of his masterpiece do not have the glazy appearance that the water
pieces give. The Pool with Splash by Robert Arneson really shows and represents how a pool in
someone's backyard would look on a hot summer day.
The group that Robert was in featured pop art in many of their pieces. With his Pool with Splash,
Robert put the style of pop art into the pool. He wanted

Why Is America Considered A Masterpiece
When I think of America, I imagine of a masterpiece. When America was first discovered by
Christopher Columbus, it was a blank canvas with native American details on the rim. These details
represent how the Native Americans have affected America. Since then, every triumph, failure, rise,
and fall that America has had, another part was added. And though this painting was once a blank
canvas, it is now a wonderful painting with landmarks from near and wide, full of every color, and
includes everything important to modern America.
Opportunity. The blank canvas itself represents all of the possibilities that America had. And it gave
the settlers the opportunity to add whatever they wanted to the canvas.
Education is an opportunity that most

Analysis Of Along The Coast By Alfred Thompson Bricher
The artwork titled Along the Coast by Alfred Thompson Bricher was painted in the year 1880. This
particular work is composed of oil on canvas though the dimension were not specified at the
Museum of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg, Florida. The overall focus of this painting is landscape in
along a northeastern seacoast in the United States. To begin, the formal element of line can be seen
throughout this artwork and helps the audience understand the dimensions and viewpoint the
audience Bricher grants his audience. The first noticeable line is defined by the shoreline giving the
painting depth and expressing distance. There is also a line along the bottom of the seaside cliff that
allows the audience to further understand that this painting is of a three–dimensional landscape.
Moreover, where the blue sky meets the grey and black of the cliff provides an outline for the
physical landscape the artist wished to capture and defines the space it occupies. Also, the line
outlining where the water is located provides an outline for the entirety of the shore. Furthermore,
another formal element of art that appears in this work is space. Bricher was able to transform his
two–dimensional depiction into a window to a three–dimensional space by simply manipulating his
audience's point of view. In the foreground, the artist rendered the images of the beached seaweed,
rock formation in the water, and rowboat with comparably great detail. As the viewer's eye travels
up the physical

Triumph Of Bacchus
Art History Analysis The Triumph of Bacchus, is a beautifully, well thought out oil based painting
created in 1635. An artist named Nicolas Poussin put his mind to work, and in the essay I am going
to show that. Firstly, starting with just a general description of the painting, and some background
from the artist himself. Secondly, go into the formal elements of the painting, how it came to life,
what's happening in the picture, and how everything was applied with all reasoning. Then lastly,
conclude with everything covered, and how the painting was created. In this painting, Bacchus the
God of wine, is leading his entourage of mythological creatures in a triumphal homecoming from
victories in India. His chariot is being drawn by centaurs,

Laguna Art Museum
On Thursday March 22nd, I visited the Laguna Art Museum with my boyfriend. I was very excited
for this assignment because I am a member at the Laguna art museum, but didn't yet see the new
exhibit for this season. The Laguna Art Museum is small and therefore, usually runs exhibits on one
artist at the time. I knew I would more than likely only be able to pick art pieces from one artist. At
this time, they were displaying a local artist, Tony DeLap, and work from his collection titled,
"Retrospective". My expectation was that I probably wouldn't enjoy his work too much. I knew
DeLap was a minimalist, "op artist", and that style of work isn't my favorite, typically I enjoy realist
paintings. However, I decided that I should try and analyze art ... Show more content on

the painting I started with the empty shape in the middle and then looked at the rest. However, my
boyfriend said he didn't really know where to start looking with the painting. He said the colors

"Circus Time" is more an example of "Brownian motion". The artist didn't use a focal points or
perspectives to lead my eye anywhere; instead my eye naturally wandered around the painting not

Union University Art Gallery Analysis
Union University Art Gallery plays host to several different artists' galleries throughout the year, for
free and open to the public. Currently on display is "Hodgepodge", a collection of about ten
canvases by Brian Bundren. While Bundren has been painting and displaying his artwork for quite
some time (his first gallery was in the mid–1990s!), "Hodgepodge" contains paintings only from
2013–2016. All of the artwork shows great precision and attention to detail. The colors are vibrant
and rich. That is not to say the colors were bright or cheerful (only one painting was particularly
"bright"), but the colors were all pure and distinct. Most of the paintings, in my opinion, would fit
under the umbrella of surrealism. Walking into the gallery immediately starts to produce feelings of
unease and perhaps feelings of being threatened. The individual objects in the paintings are very
realistic but mashed together in unnatural ways. Only one painting, "J.V.'s Thunderbird", felt "calm";
it did not cause me to personally feel discomfort, even though it was not peaceful. It was a large
canvas displaying an underwater scene in bright blue. A Thunderbird was half–visible along the
bottom edge of the canvas. A deep sea diver was present, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There is a muzzle, open and snarling, behind a few peonies. At first glance, it appears to be the
muzzle of a dog, but careful inspection of the shape of the nostrils, mandible, and placement of what

are two in full bloom and one bud) commonly represents love and honor, while white peonies (there
is one at the bottom) represents shyness or bashfulness. For me, this painting shows that for every
good thing there is in the world, there is the "other" behind it: an oft uncontrollable, primal force

Hometown Morning By Thomas Kinkade
In 2000, Thomas Kinkade, the Painter of Light, created Hometown Morning, which is an oil
painting on canvas. This painting is part of the Hometown Memories collection as he paints
different scenes from his childhood growing up. Hometown Morning is a painting of a street in
Placerville, California that is full of life. It is a small community with people walking down the
sidewalk and everyone and everything just seems peaceful. Since the original has been sold, the last
location of the painting was at The Thomas Kinkade Museum in Monterey, California. The use of
melancholic colors are shown as it is a dim setting as the sun begins to rise over the city street.
However, the only vibrant color used throughout the piece is a bright gold yellow to illuminate the
insides of the homes through the windows. Kinkade's use of complementary colors are visible
throughout. Different shades of yellow and blue are seen as there is yellow in the sky and also blue
on the street. There are more cold colors than warm colors since the setting is in the morning and
during the winter after it has rained. The people are dressed in winter clothes and some even have
scarves on. Kinkade uses directional line to direct our attention to what is going on as our eyes go
down the street. There is not an actual diagonal line that makes the road smaller, but the use of grass
and the sidewalks does the trick. The people in the foreground are headed down the street leading

The Space Is Empty
The space is empty, only a shadowy figure can be seen. Their bright silver eyes pierce into my soul.
A mischievous smile is drawn upon its face, sending chills down my spine. Their long curvy horns

approaches slowly, as if waiting for an opportunity to strike. I try to escape, but my legs are under a

worst, but no attack came in contact. Instead, it held out its shadowy hand.

gallons of black water overflowing its container. Long marks are carved into the doors in the back of

"Now where was it...?" It searches through the piles of canvases and papers, tossing each one to the
side.
While it searches for whatever it's looking for, I explore the rest of the room in hopes remembering
how I ended up in this place. More importantly a way out. I open some of the drawers to discover
more broken utensils and crumbled pieces of paper. I open some of the crumbled papers in hope for

close the drawers, feeling sorry about the misused materials. Moving on from the drawers, I open

wall. Not a single hint of a door with a neon sign saying EXIT.

Nirvana, By Kurt Cobain
If the words "alternative" and "rock" are uttered together, chances are, Nirvana immediately comes
to mind. Nirvana, lead by Kurt Cobain, intend to push messages that oppose the mainstream through
their music and image. Even though, at the height of their popularity they could certainly be
considered rock stars, in an interview with MTV in 1993 Kurt famously says "we're not rock stars",
he truly doesn 't wish to be categorized as one. Nirvana made a conscious effort to be seen in a
completely different stream than the commercially successful bands of their time. By examining
different Nirvana texts like music, lyrics and band photos, it is clear that Nirvana wanted to be
decoded as different and oppositional.

Beginning with album title, Kurt originally wanted to name the album "I Hate Myself I Want to Die"
(28). This title would certainly have worked in order to scare off the bands commercial fans. But I
think this title could have been decoded on multiple levels depending on how well you know the
band, same with the final title In Utero. "I hate myself I want to die" denotes that this album would
have been depressing, personal and a reflection of Cobain's inner psyche. But as a true fan you
might be able to decode it as ironic as Cobain constantly claims his music is not personal. Which is
why this title could have worked to warn off the commercial fans. The potential title "I hate myself I
want to die" is definitely not a typical title for an album. It feels personal, almost too personal and
also very depressing, certainly not upbeat. Which definitely conveys how alternative Nirvana is,
because music listeners only interested in popular music probably would not want to listen to an
album about someone wanting to die.
The title and album artwork of In Utero denotes a see–through woman with blonde hair with wings.
In Utero defined is, "in the womb". The title an artwork, could possibly be connote as the mother of
his child, Courtney Love. The title being In Utero, than could symbolize that the music on this
album has been impacted by the birth of his daughter. "I hate myself I want to die" would have been

The Art And Reflection Of The Red Room
The rich raspberry red blanketed over the canvas is more than enough to entice it's viewers. The Red
Room, made by Henri Matisse in 1908 is and has been a highly popular piece of artwork. The art
piece captured what it meant to be a fauvist artist with its bright colors and unrealistic appearance.
Matisse and other fauvist artists decided to go against what society decided was normal at the time
and succeeded. My recreation of the Red Room uses the same intensity of color, line, shape, form,
texture, space, unity, balance, contrast, emphasis, rhythm, and proportion to represent the greatly
valued art piece. The Red Room is an oil on canvas artwork that is exceedingly two dimensional
while still showing examples of space. The art portrays a woman setting up a table within a highly
saturated red room. The table and the wall paper are almost indistinguishable if it weren't for the thin
wobbly line that differentiated them. A blue branch like pattern spans from the bottom of the canvas
to the top while staying in the range of the table and wall. Also part of the pattern are vases of
flowers that are additionally outlined in black. On the table are various circular fruits, mainly in the
color yellow, green, orange, and red. Beside the fruit are long round bottomed vases that are half full
of some sort of elixir. The fruit and vases were common to see in Matisse's work during that period,
"Matisse turned to a motif common in the works created that year: a room decorated with

Frank Stella Research Paper
The work of Frank Stella presents itself as a catalyst. It is equipped with a three–dimensional energy
that goes beyond the limits of the canvas and spreads itself onto real space. His creations invite us in
to interact. He is one of the pioneers of Minimalism, with his famous black paintings (1958–60) ,for
which he received early and overnight recognition and acclaim . Those "Black Paintings" consisted
of, basically , 'stripes of black house paint laid out in stark repetitive, patterns separated by thin lines
of unpainted canvas'.(Fig 1) In the evolution of its production, he becomes a pictorial reference to
exuberance, through his layering buildup and works that are full of curves, twists and contortions. If,

Between 1958 and 1960, with a series of 23 canvases known as Black Paintings, Frank Stella
cancels out any trace of visual illusionist effects or references, and creates "non–relational images".
He builds a linear pattern, organizing a structure of parallel stripes. With the phrase "What you see is
what you see" , he lays out the elements of absolute flatness of his painting, building, by doing so, a
logic rationale to their visual system. It is time for the reasoned geometric rigor of symmetry,
regularity and serial repetition. In his minimalism, Stella eliminates color, he uses black paint and
then metallic gray and copper paint to reduce the idea of illusion. By focusing on unity and the
fabric surface homogeneity – the "all over" – he begins to express one of the aspects of the
minimalist movement. These paintings are part of the exhibition "Sixteen Americans" held in 1959
at MoMA.
Nonetheless, the reductive course that Stella chose takes him to an alternative path: he chooses to
end austerity, by replacing monochromatic stripes with multiple colors and shades that immediately
take the viewer to spatial interpretations. Stella's art does not take into account the limits of the
traditional rectangular canvas , always reminding us that no matter what connotations his paintings
may evoke

Could Our Brain Be Evil Essay
Could Our Brains be Evil?
Thoughts. Thoughts come from your brain. For some people they can be great. For example,
productive thoughts can lead you places. Good grades, great job opportunities, and good decision
making.
For some people though, thoughts aren't always what that person wants them to be. Thought's for
them could mean life or death. A category in lame, versus popular. They cannot think straight, and
most of the time in a made up world for which they can escape in. One where they can be
everything they wish they could be.
So the question here is, "Could Our Brains be Evil?" My opinion on this is, some can be. But they

Geopoliticus Child Watching the Birth of the New Man
Salavador Dali was a very talented artist from Spain. He was born in
1904 and died of heart failure in 1989. A lot of his work was influenced by his dreams and he
depicted them on canvas. Dali's work was also influenced by surrealism, a style of artwork that
expressed images through unconventional techniques and distortions. Although the work seems to
be a little out of the ordinary, I still find it very interesting and extra ordinary. His painting,
Geopoliticus Child
Watching the Birth of the New Man (1943), stuck in my mind every since the moment I laid my
eyes on it.

The bright white canvas the world is resting on illustrates his coming death in the future. The
brightness of the bottom canvas sends signals of happiness and rest.
I feel this way because I was taught to morn at birth, this world is full of heartbreaks and let downs
and to rejoice at death, in death there is rest and the hope of eternal life. The thick blood oozing out
from the opening of the earth signifies the sweat and blood he has been sacrificing to become an
adult. As the ordeal is taking place, a person that seems to be both male and female is watching. I

The child seems to be watching with curiosity and fear. The person may be trying to teach the child
the lesson of the event. I feel the lesson that is trying to be taught is, no matter what male or female

without representation of objects, in which the artist has total freedom of the art that they are
creating. I will be using three paintings from three different time periods in order to show the
development and lasting effects of abstraction in the twentieth century. The first work that I will be

and how ideas of abstraction were present before the movement began. The second painting that I
will be looking at is Jackson Pollock's Lucifer. I will be using this painting as an example of the
height of abstraction in the 20th century and will be discussing Pollock's influence on abstraction.
The third piece of art I will be looking at is Many Mansion by Kerry James Marshall. I will use this
work to show the remnants of Pollock's influence, and the influence of abstraction in general, on art
in the later half of the century. For the development of this paper I looked at two of the course
readings. The first reading that I used was The Tradition of the New by Harold Rosenberg. I used
this article to show how Foghorns by Arthur Dove relates to abstraction, and to show how ideas in
creation of this painting can be linked to ideas of abstract art. The second reading that I used for this
paper was The Legacy of Jackson Pollock by Alan Kaprow. I used this article to gain information

Analysis Of Michael Zancan's The Garden Of Giants
The oil on canvas "Tears of Joy in the Garden of Giants" by Michael Zancan was created in south
west France back in January of 2011. This surreal artist plunges into his fantasies creating mystical
worlds filled with vivid hues and outstanding details. A long process awaited this particular piece.
During one of his travels, the first draft got misplaced at a metro station for many months. Filled
with hope, Zancan continued his research of varying structural forms that 1900's dome glasshouses
used in order to incorporate them into his masterpiece. Fortunately, he found architectural
inspiration within the walls of The Grand Palais in Paris. A digital painting was drafted using the old
sketch he had initially lost in the metro and on, December 2005 the first draft was ready for critique.
This digital prototype served as a guide for the 120 by 200 cm oil on canvas. On to the drawing
board! Fascinated by the vivid world, Zancan gave two additional coats of oil on the art to enhance
the painting's contrast before its final reveal. To this day, the original canvas remains by romantic's
side in France. Zancan is strategic, he wants to increase his popularity seeing that, his art's value will
grow along with it. In addition, high quality prints can be obtained and purchased through his web
page.
Like a prima ballerina whom incorporates strength and beauty with every move she makes, Zancan
conveys his very essence within every brush stroke. Tears of joy, have you

The Artistic Influence Of Pablo Picasso's Le Rameur
The Artistic Influence of Pablo Picasso
The Houston Museum of Fine Arts carries this eye catching painting constructed by the late Pablo
Picasso. This particular abstract painting of Picasso looks as if a man is sitting at a piano. Upon
further observation of the painting I came to realize that the artwork was distinctively named Le
Rameur , which means "The Rower" in French. The Rower can be placed in the art movement
known as Analytic Cubism. Analytic Cubism refers to Picasso´s interest in breaking down or
analyzing forms and space into smaller geometric shapes. In Le Rameur, Picasso uses his Cubism
method that embellishes rectangles, triangles, and spheres and squares to bring out the detail. The
artwork itself looks very dull and unfinished and is evident that Picasso made use of muted colors
such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The painting includes some recognizable elements of the person depicted, but Picasso fragments
them into geometric shapes and rearranges them. The result is an image that causes the viewer´s eye
to search for identifiable forms and shapes. Here, Picasso explores the use of three dimensional
objects on a two–dimensional surface. Picasso choses muted colors, brown, ocher, and gray, to unify
and flatten the composition. These colors allow the geometric shapes to meld with the two–
dimensional surface on which it is painted. At the same time, a solid figure emerges through the
layering of forms and angles. The painting includes some recognizable elements of the person

image that causes the viewer´s eye to search for identifiable forms and shapes. The V–shaped lines

boat. Similar V–shaped lines in the lower part of the composition suggest bent legs, as if the figure
is seated. Picasso's brushwork changes throughout the

Analysis of Thomas Birch's painting An American Ship in Distress
Examining the formal qualities of Thomas Birch's painting An American Ship in Distress was very
interesting. This paper will analyze and illustrate what I saw in this particular piece of artwork. The
paper will also discuss the art elements such as line, shape, color, texture, scale, and composition of
the artwork.
I chose the art piece entitled An American Ship in Distress because it looks pretty amazing. Another
reason I chose to analyze this piece as opposed to the others is because it was the piece I liked the
most, therefore making me analyze it more closely and discover other aspects of the work would
make me appreciate it more. I also chose this because I enjoy ... Show more content on

I think the artist is able to communicate the bad condition of the ship and its crew is in. The mood of
the work is scary and gloomy. The design and intensity of the waves, the changing weather, and the
ships in the ocean seem to make the scene come alive. It really conveys a since of naturalism in the
painting the way it depicts the environment around the ship.
The texture of the canvas works very well with the subject matter portrayed in the painting. The
strong ocean current and the cloudy mountain side are complimented by the canvas. It makes the
waves seem like they're moving against the ship. The ship is nicely detailed as well as the people in
the painting. The brushstrokes are very clean and precise on the waves in the foreground. The
brushstrokes do create a sense of movement in the painting. The surface of the artwork looks rough
where the ocean is painted and where the clouds are painted it appears smooth and soft. This
artwork is linear rather than painterly.
The distressed ship is the biggest in the painting, making it the center of the piece. The artist drew
the two other ships small to make them seem distant and another small boat close to the damaged
ship. The scale of the painting itself is pretty big; it's 36 inches long and 53 inches wide.
The lines on the ocean made by the waves seem to point to the ships direction as if guiding your
eyes to where you're supposed to be looking at. Also the lines on the mountains seem to be pointing

User Interfaces ( Ui 's )
User interfaces (UI's) are a core feature in just about every modern software application. Games are
no exception to this rule. The vast majority of games utilize some form of UI to display information
such as health, skills, maps, ammo for a weapon, and more. Unity 3D offers a variety of UI elements
that you can use in your game. In this post, I'll provide instructions on how to create a simple Pause
menu in Unity. The Pause Menu will display text that says "Paused" and it will have three buttons;
Resume, Retry and Quit. It will also display the game time since the scene loaded. By the end of the
instruction, you should have something that looks sort of like this:
How to Create a Simple Pause Menu in Unity
To start off with, open up Unity and create an empty project. It doesn't matter if it's 2D or 3D. Once
the project is created, save your current scene and call it whatever you want. I am calling my scene
"Test". Now, let's make the UI.
The Canvas is required for all UI Elements in Unity. The canvas is, essentially, what you place your
UI elements on. Any UI Elements you create will have to be children of a canvas. When you create
the Canvas, you'll also notice an item called an "EventSystem" will be created in your hierarchy.
This object is used for determining things such as mouse input, which is crucial for UI elements
such as buttons.

Analysis Of ' Death On The Pale Horse '
This paper is going to analyze the context within which the work of art, "Death on the Pale Horse"
was created. In addition, the paper will also discuss the medium that the artist selected and highlight
a number of the other fascinating aspects of this Benjamin West painting.
Benjamin West first displayed his work of art in 1784 at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, in
conjunction with three different works that he had planned to paint. The artist used oil on canvas as
his final medium and the painting measures twenty three by fifty inches. It is signed within the
lower right corner "B. West 1796" and is now displayed at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Historians

The style that West used is described best through his choice of colors that are very warm, and thus,
in all probability influenced other painters who were part of the Romantic era of the Nineteenth
Century. What is distinctive regarding this specific painting is that it merges art with recreation. The
theme is deep as a result of the many things that are happening within the background and the
foreground. As an example, there are bodies with garments ripped of from the battle and a fallen
horse at the front center of the painting; however, the background also contains many winged
demons and murderers who ride in from some distant place.
As for the forms within the painting, they are realistic, and never flat. The horses are spherical and
appear to be very strong; the lion 's claws are immense and tear blood from the flesh of the person
the lion attacks. The forms are well accomplished and reinforce the drama of the scene, which the
artist meant to depict. All of the shapes are meant to be full to provide weight and seriousness to the
piece. None of the forms are lightweight or ethereal, even the clouds are giant and full. Most of the
figures have significant shadowing and strips of highlight to deepen the distinction between the dark
and lightweight colors.
With reference to the lines within the painting, every figure within the painting, including all of the
ghosts that float in from heaven, are well carved. The lines are harsh

The L–shaped Room by Lynne Reid Banks
The narrator's views of social prejudice are conveyed through the experience of Jane the main
character.
"My father and I hadn't said a word to each other when I went home for my things. He's told me to
go and I was going; he didn't care where and so why should I tell him?"
The above opening quotation is from 'The L–shaped Room' written by
Lynne Reid Banks. It captures an insight into the attitudes of the time. The author mainly focuses on
reflecting the journey Jane faces through her "unwanted pregnancy," coping with emotional
difficulties and the dilemmas that face her. I feel the novel made me sympathetic towards Jane, as

Yet these neighbours eventually draw her back to life.
At the start of the novel Jane realised it was morally wrong in her society to be pregnant but she tries
to be strong to admit the truth to her father:
"'I'm pregnant' I said. These two words shocked even me with their crudeness. I instantly wished I'd
said the softer 'I' m going to have a baby.' The blunt statement of the biological fact had the same
after– echoes as a slap across his face."
The writer has made me feel that Jane thought some weight would ease of her mind by being strong
and telling her father, as he may understand as she is the only child with no mother. However the
sharpness of the truth hits Jane at the same time as she admits the truth because she realises she is in
the situation and she is not generally stating something that will have no affect on her. I think the
dash reveals extra feelings, of how she now feels after admitting the truth but in addition to this the
sentence before and after the dash is a vivid contrast. Before the dash it suggests what she said was
simple and straightforward words but it compares the effect of the words after the dash which shows
the words are shocking. 'Echoes as a slap across the face' shows how forceful the words actually
sounded.
This phrase is a simile which compares her words as being worse than a slap. In my opinion the
word choice of 'echoes' expresses how the admittance of the truth must have been a

Girl before a Mirror
Girl before a Mirror, an oil on canvas painting by Spanish artist Pablo Picasso, shows two sides of a
girl; one which is illustrated with a dark tone and one with a vibrant colorful tone. This painting is
bright; colors are at full intensity and are arranged next to their complements, producing a visual
relationship between shape and form. Forms are used to draw the viewer's eye across the canvas
where circular shapes, repeating throughout the work, are compensated by the pattern of diagonal
lines of the background. The viewer observes the girl's profile and full frontal image, looking into a
mirror and noticing a different image of herself. In order to achieve this effect, Picasso uses a range

The use of geometric shapes in this painting allows the subject to be viewed in both a recognizable
and unrecognizable state at the same time. Overall, geometric shapes and patterns play an essential
role in what the viewer sees, which is further supported by a powerful color palate.
Picasso uses texture and an array of complementary and analogous colors characterized by a range
of hues, values, and light to create a dramatic difference between the two subjects. The dominant
and repetitive colors in the painting are green, yellow, lavender, red, and blue. The use of color,
especially when used with the different geometric shapes, creates both a range of values as well as
contrasts to adjacent areas. The profile and frontal head have lighter values such as yellow and
lavender, whereas the reflection, painted with a rough charcoal texture has a dominance of blue,
especially around the face, reflecting darker values. The use of complementary colors such as red
and green create a brighter canvas, while the use of analogous combinations such as green and
yellow, and green and blue blend well together. Overall, the reds and greens are bright throughout,
giving intensity to the painting while the use of soft blue in the reflection, is not as intense and
warm. Picasso also uses complementary colors of red and green against lavender in the figure to
make the figure prominent. In the reflection, analogous colors are used throughout, but

An Analysis Of Salvador Dali's The Persistence Of Memory 1931
THE PERSISTENCE OF MEMORY (1931)
The Persistence of Memory (1931) was made in 1931 by Salvador Dali, the artwork is 24 x 33 cm
oil on canvas painting, and now the artwork is in The Museum of Modern Art, New York. The style
of the artwork is surrealistic. The subject matter is a barren landscape with melting clocks draped
over unrelated objects, caricature of Dali's face on the ground, plus a rocky headland with sea in the
background. The focal point of the artwork is the strange caricature of Dali's profile, complete with
eyelashes, tongue and nose. This is because it is so light amongst dark surrounding shadows on the

The main colours used are blue, yellow, orange and brown. There is also a specific scheme involved
in this artwork, which is orange and blue are opposite on the colour wheel, creating visual interest
and drama in the composition. Those colour been used to realistically describe forms, they also used
to communicate a feeling in this painting. The strongly contrasting colours creates a mysterious
shadowy atmosphere in the unusual foreground objects, which is balanced by the lighter landscape

There are some lines been used in the artwork, which is thin, straight and neat. Dali used very thin

shapes of the boxes on the left–hand side of the composition. There is a very strong tonal contrast
between the darker foreground, and the lighter background areas of the landscape. This contrast
creates the effect of visual interest in the composition. And the surface of the artwork is smooth. Any

Frank Stella's Inspiration Versus "What You See Is What You See"
Frank Stella is an Abstract Expressionist and Minimalist artist who is known for several elements of
his painting style such as his shaped canvases and his famous saying "what you see is what you
see." In the mid–1960's, Stella created a series of paintings, the "Protractor Series," which are
prominent for their semi–circle shaped canvases that resemble a protractor. Despite Stella's popular
motto, "what you see is what you see," Stella did, in fact, have an inspiration for his famous
masterpiece.
Frank Stella created beautiful, simple paintings on canvas often using polymer paint. Very
commonly, Stella's paintings were depicted on shaped canvases like his Protractor Series were
painted on semi–circle shaped canvases. Stella had some more works, Irregular Polygons, that were
composed on shaped canvases as well, like the ones listed below.

Although Frank Stella is known for his abstract attitude and motto "what you see is what you see," it

different hues he chose and the intertwining "pathways" of color. Prior to creating this artwork,

Analysis Of Les Demoiselles DAvignon
Les Demoiselles d'Avignon Abstract expressionism–Jackson Pollock Yif Chen Oct. 10th Les
Demoiselles d'Avignon is probably the most representative painting that transits Picasso to cubism.
It is a radical break from the conventional representation that for so long has been accepted in
western culture because Picasso directly brings concepts like sexuality, female nude bodies, and
sexually transmitted diseases to form a palpable three–dimensional fractured space. Picasso depicts
the opposition of pleasure, which is sensual eroticism with sarcasm in a brothel located on a street
named Avignon, takes women outward to audiences and engages with viewers. This painting is an
untraditional and bold confrontation with the conventional art, thus, revolutionizing the entire art
world. In this eye–catching depiction, five prostitutes with five different shocking positions cover all
over the canvas. With different elements, like the African mask, disproportional gesture, and Iberian
sculpture, complexity and contraction are vividly portrayed in this painting. Making use of
aggressively nude bodies, Picasso boldly pulls exaggerated and distorted expression into the
canvass, and forms a sense of flatness by directing an interior, closed, and almost claustrophobic
space, because every prostitute is almost near the edge of canvass, but at the same time, is perfectly
enclosed by the space. There is no illusion or visual space that creates depth; the whole canvas is

The Repetition Of Pablo Picasso's Harlequin
In late 1915 Paris, Pablo Picasso painted "Harlequin." The abstract painting is oil on canvas, is
displayed in portrait view and measures 6' ¼" by 3' 5 3/8". This was not the first time Picasso used
the harlequin figure. During his "Rose Period" (early 1900's) the harlequin figure was a top choice
for Picasso. Picasso is known for his "Blue Period," "Rose Period," and his "Protocubism" he co–
founded Cubism, invented the collage, and aided in the development of both Surrealism and
Symbolism. Picasso truly abandoned the ideals of realistic painting and was drawn to the abstract.
"Harlequin" is a synthetic cubist painting or a painting marked by the use of color, and decoration,
while keeping flat shapes that was disjointed.

He paints the figure in an traditional argyle like pattern of a harlequin, which really helps to make
the figure stand out against some rather abstract cubistic questionable pieces of furniture (?). The
belt is easily seen, as are two distinct legs. One arm seems to be presented by the negative space
between two other objects. He again uses negative space to depict the head or the start of the head as
it only includes one eye.
Considering the repeated use of the harlequin figure it seems that Picasso found it to be a pleasing
figure to paint. It does not appear this harlequin is a happy figure as the colors are deeper and seem
to be more muted and depressing. The use of a black background seems to mirror the idea of it being
more depressing. Overall, he uses a consistent layer of paint; however, in the smallest rectangular
shape the mixed colors of yellow seem to represent a mismatch of happy and sad. The happiness of
the bright yellow paint and of a normal harlequin is being taken over by despair and

My New Body Of Work
I would say my justifications are leading and concerning on being mindful. I would describe
mindfulness, as a way of life that is peacefully perceptive, deprived of the stimulus of cravings or
viewpoints. That is how I behave in the studio. I dominate my rational brain with technical focuses
so that it stays occupied. As I am engaged with technique a fragment of myself is allowed to observe
unrestricted by my thought process. It is that openness that truly enlightens my work.
My new body of work is a continuation of the work I have initiated earlier this year. It consists of a
series of large canvases where I am painting a distorted enlarged self. I paint with oil colors on
Italian linen canvases. This paint layer gets built up in a traditional lean–to–fat technique. I used to
paint women portraits, but I gradually became more interested in flesh and less in the facial
expressions. Coming to an understanding about how the body alone is a vehicle to convey emotions
and how those moods can be exuding from a flat surface.
Throughout my artistic growth, the contemporary British artist Jenny Saville, that dedicated her
career to traditional figurative oil painting, has acted a massive part in my developing work. The
subjects of her paintings, the large canvasses and bodies exposing the flesh. The explanation of her
work, tends to be eccentric and encompasses discourses about feminism i.e.: 1 'feminist aesthetics of
disgust ', her use of uneven scratch marks, the strong and

The Bob Ross Painting Method

  • 1. The Bob Ross Painting Method Bob Ross and his happy little friends have introduced millions of PBS viewers to the world of art. Bob may be gone but his gentle legacy of painting technique continues to charm and instruct. Not only are there books and DVDs available, but a full line of Bob Ross painting supplies are sold on– line and in select venues. There are also over 3000 certified Bob Ross instructors nationwide and internationally. How Does He Do That? The Bob Ross painting method is the wet–in–wet technique. Artists have used this method for hundreds of years, and for the oil painter is the fastest method to use. The Bob Ross oil paints are specially formulated to meet the consistencies he prefers in the various colors on his palette. He also has a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This results in the edges remaining crisp while the bulk of the mountain takes on a misty, grayed appearance, due to the blending of the background paint into the dark of the mountain paint. Evergreen Trees Just as with clouds, Bob uses the fan brush to paint evergreen trees. The paint is heavily loaded onto a fan brush. Using the edge lay a very fine vertical line to represent the treetop. Use the corner to dab tiny bits of paint to represent the uppermost branches of the tree on the sides of the vertical line. As the artist progresses down the trunk, he applies more pressure and uses more of the edge of the brush. Use a choppy, erratic motion to emulate the uneven, jagged shapes of the evergreen. The underlying layer of paint will blend with the tree color as the brush runs out of paint. Add more as necessary, but do not try to keep all the branches the same color. This is representational, and not meant to be graphically correct. It is the essence of the tree and there is no need to go for authenticity. Wildlife In the Ross method of painting wildlife, preparation is different from painting landscapes. The canvas is thinly coated with grey gesso and allowed to dry thoroughly. Draw or transfer the subject to the canvas using graphite carbon paper. Rather than using the wet in wet technique, this painting starts with an underpainting of the animal using grey, black and white acrylic paint. The student proceeds with oils

  • 6. Comparison And Contrast Of Art Comparison and Contrast of Art Art is able to transport its viewer through time and connect us as a community. Audiences are able to infer the content and context of the artwork. Art displayed through different mediums and about different topics can share many similarities and draw connections between one another. Exodus, created by Shelby Lechman (2015), uses oil paint on canvas to depict a young boy and father in a train car, leaving their home in Hungary during the time of the Hungarian Revolution (fig.1). Back into the Earth: Creation and the Interpretation of Meaning, created by Tamara Himmelspach (2015) is a series of 11 prints and a physical dress displaying the designer in a jingle dress representing the traditions of the Ojibwa culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, further connection in context and content can be developed when analyzing the connection of the works roots and art in history. Exodus exhibits the reality of human suffering as a result of war and oppression during the Hungarian Revolution. The historical relevance of this work dives into a deeper significance than its basic face value. The oppression and struggle for power signified in Exodus also translates into Figure 2. Both cultures, in their own time have faced their traditions and way of life being threatened. As Hungarian citizens are forced to leave their country, Ojibwa members were constantly threatened by European immigrants. The human experience is key in understanding and studying art. Besides the main styles and usage in appearance, the connection to a point in time and the influence of that time allows the audience to connect with the artist and the characteristics of the artwork. Audiences are able to connect past themes to present day issues, such as the difficulties facing many Syrian refugees and the numerous Native American women who have gone missing. The importance of home and culture is evident in both works despite their different purposes and artistic modes. Limits are explored and barriers of past, present are future are removed when audiences are able to interpret the work from any point in time and understand the significance of its visual and non–visual means. ... • 8. Essay on Frank Stellar Frank Stella An American Artist Frank Stella is an American painter who remains poplar after almost four decades of work. He was born in 1936 and studied at the Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts under Patrick Morgan and at Princeton University under William Seitz and Stephen Greene. After 1958 he lived in New York. He came to the fore in the 1960s as one of the most inventive of the new school of Post– Painterly Abstraction, a reaction against Abstract Expressionism. He was then exhibited widely in New York, Los Angeles, and elsewhere. A retrospective exhibition in 1970 was held under the auspices of the International Council of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He began as one of many post war minimalist painters, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His work in this respect had affinities with the primary structures of some minimal artist and with the All–Over style of painting in which attention is evenly diffused over the whole canvas, leaving no outstanding points of interest brought together by balance, harmony, rhythm, and so on (Osborne 521). Until his last month at Princeton, Stella had painted in a style that was derived from de Kooning, Frankenthaler, and Kline, and he would subsequently absorb influences from Gottlieb and Motherwell. At the end of his time at Princeton he entered on a period of rapid development in which he produced compositions containing single or multiple box forms placed in varying contexts of bands or stripes. These pictures make up the bridge, or transition, to the Black series in which his profile as an independent painter was established. Many of these transitional paintings reflect Stella's excitement with the ambiance of New York City. In Coney Island, for instance, a blue rectangle floats on a field of alternating red and yellow horizontal bands. In Astoria it is possible to see a stage beyond Coney Island, for in this work the geometrical forms have been overpainted to produce a design made up entirely of horizontal bands (Rubin 10). In his early work, Stella was a practitioner ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It lets you add meticulous details to your painting. It allows you to work peacefully without unintentional wobble. Have you ever struggled with a shoddy easel? We have! When you're trying to finish your masterpiece, you have to hold the easel with one hand and paint with the other. These are the burdens a substandard telescoping easel afflicts you with. Alvin's laboratory–tested aluminum easel is different. The finely crafted pivoting feet stabilize this telescoping easel on uneven ground. Their spring–loaded, locking canvas support seals your artwork in position. Your canvases are safer with their robust rectangular profile frame. • 14. French Artists: Paul Cezanne Paul Cezanne (Smith, P, 1996) is a southern France artist, born in 1839, it is known his picture space comes across as dense and hard to read to the public eye, however, when looking at Plate 1.3.20 and Plate 1.3.22 we can see many similarities and differences by looking at the delineation, modelling, picture space and brush work. Plate 1.3.22 is able to illustrate work dated between the years of 1904–06, this is a modern canvas compared to that of plate 1.2.20 which was completed in 1887. The brushwork on plate 1.3.22 is able to gratify two alternative demands, this being both Cezanne's sense of the relative standards in light and colour, alongside the concentrated impression of the physical landscape he was looking at. Both plates express ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This in itself is able to separate the worlds of the spectator from the literal surface itself, as touching this canvas would encourage a break in illusionistic properties, as the frontier between the two worlds would have clashed. Within imagine 1.3.22 we can perceive a rough delineation of Mont Sainte–Victoire, this has an alternative colour scheme from the outer scene which displays negative conditions similar to 1.3.20. When looking at the modelling in both plates, we can note these are oppositions of each other. In plate 1.3.20 the modelling exchanges from the bottom left corner to the top right, whereas, plate 1.3.22 moves across from the bottom right corner, to the top left. One similarity we can see in the two plates is that the colour shades indicate negative conditions due to the murky and dark shading throughout the colour scheme. Overall, both images by Paul Cezanne, are able to be viewed in different lights when confronted by the public eye. • 16. Art Paper Art Appreciation Art cannot be classified into one category, style, or period. Art is very diverse, ranging from the beginning of the human being to today. Through the years, art has evolved dramatically from stick figures and two dimensional animals to three dimensional sculptures and intricate paintings. The artwork featured at the Seattle Art Museum shows many different types of art and features several different periods in which these artworks were created. Two pieces of art that stuck out the most at the museum was Albert Bierstadt's Puget Sound on the Pacific Coast and Robert Arneson's Pool with Splash. Both of these pieces of art showed character and seemed to almost speak to the viewer. Although there are many different periods ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The pool that Robert formed using the ceramic media is three dimensional in form and is closely shaped like a lima bean. The "water" of the pool, is made up of many different pieces of ceramic and has several different shades of blue and green. In order to represent the movement of water within the pool, Robert used complimentary blues and greens together and slightly swirled them to make it look close to how water moves. Each piece of the pools water fits together like a tight puzzle. They are numbered so that the colors and shapes can be set together perfectly while on display. In the center of the pool, is a large white ceramic "splash". Robert gave this piece curves and form to represent the splash of water as if someone was jumping into the pool and creating a huge backsplash. The edge of Roberts Pool with Splash is created to look like the cement barrier that contains the water of the pool. He formed each piece to look like a block which forms the shape of the lima bean pool. These parts of his masterpiece do not have the glazy appearance that the water pieces give. The Pool with Splash by Robert Arneson really shows and represents how a pool in someone's backyard would look on a hot summer day. The group that Robert was in featured pop art in many of their pieces. With his Pool with Splash, Robert put the style of pop art into the pool. He wanted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When America was first discovered by Christopher Columbus, it was a blank canvas with native American details on the rim. These details represent how the Native Americans have affected America. Since then, every triumph, failure, rise, and fall that America has had, another part was added. And though this painting was once a blank canvas, it is now a wonderful painting with landmarks from near and wide, full of every color, and includes everything important to modern America. • 20. Analysis Of Along The Coast By Alfred Thompson Bricher The artwork titled Along the Coast by Alfred Thompson Bricher was painted in the year 1880. This particular work is composed of oil on canvas though the dimension were not specified at the Museum of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg, Florida. The overall focus of this painting is landscape in along a northeastern seacoast in the United States. To begin, the formal element of line can be seen throughout this artwork and helps the audience understand the dimensions and viewpoint the audience Bricher grants his audience. The first noticeable line is defined by the shoreline giving the painting depth and expressing distance. There is also a line along the bottom of the seaside cliff that allows the audience to further understand that this painting is of a three–dimensional landscape. Moreover, where the blue sky meets the grey and black of the cliff provides an outline for the physical landscape the artist wished to capture and defines the space it occupies. Also, the line outlining where the water is located provides an outline for the entirety of the shore. Furthermore, another formal element of art that appears in this work is space. Bricher was able to transform his two–dimensional depiction into a window to a three–dimensional space by simply manipulating his audience's point of view. In the foreground, the artist rendered the images of the beached seaweed, rock formation in the water, and rowboat with comparably great detail. As the viewer's eye travels up the physical ... • 22. Triumph Of Bacchus Art History Analysis The Triumph of Bacchus, is a beautifully, well thought out oil based painting created in 1635. An artist named Nicolas Poussin put his mind to work, and in the essay I am going to show that. Firstly, starting with just a general description of the painting, and some background from the artist himself. Secondly, go into the formal elements of the painting, how it came to life, what's happening in the picture, and how everything was applied with all reasoning. Then lastly, conclude with everything covered, and how the painting was created. In this painting, Bacchus the God of wine, is leading his entourage of mythological creatures in a triumphal homecoming from victories in India. His chariot is being drawn by centaurs, ... I was very excited for this assignment because I am a member at the Laguna art museum, but didn't yet see the new exhibit for this season. The Laguna Art Museum is small and therefore, usually runs exhibits on one artist at the time. I knew I would more than likely only be able to pick art pieces from one artist. At this time, they were displaying a local artist, Tony DeLap, and work from his collection titled, "Retrospective". My expectation was that I probably wouldn't enjoy his work too much. • 26. Union University Art Gallery Analysis Union University Art Gallery plays host to several different artists' galleries throughout the year, for free and open to the public. Currently on display is "Hodgepodge", a collection of about ten canvases by Brian Bundren. While Bundren has been painting and displaying his artwork for quite some time (his first gallery was in the mid–1990s!), "Hodgepodge" contains paintings only from 2013–2016. All of the artwork shows great precision and attention to detail. The colors are vibrant and rich. That is not to say the colors were bright or cheerful (only one painting was particularly "bright"), but the colors were all pure and distinct. Most of the paintings, in my opinion, would fit under the umbrella of surrealism. Walking into the gallery immediately starts to produce feelings of unease and perhaps feelings of being threatened. The individual objects in the paintings are very realistic but mashed together in unnatural ways. Only one painting, "J.V.'s Thunderbird", felt "calm"; it did not cause me to personally feel discomfort, even though it was not peaceful. It was a large canvas displaying an underwater scene in bright blue. A Thunderbird was half–visible along the bottom edge of the canvas. A deep sea diver was present, ... Pink peonies (there are two in full bloom and one bud) commonly represents love and honor, while white peonies (there is one at the bottom) represents shyness or bashfulness. • 28. Hometown Morning By Thomas Kinkade In 2000, Thomas Kinkade, the Painter of Light, created Hometown Morning, which is an oil painting on canvas. This painting is part of the Hometown Memories collection as he paints different scenes from his childhood growing up. Hometown Morning is a painting of a street in Placerville, California that is full of life. It is a small community with people walking down the sidewalk and everyone and everything just seems peaceful. Since the original has been sold, the last location of the painting was at The Thomas Kinkade Museum in Monterey, California. The use of melancholic colors are shown as it is a dim setting as the sun begins to rise over the city street. However, the only vibrant color used throughout the piece is a bright gold yellow to illuminate the insides of the homes through the windows. Kinkade's use of complementary colors are visible throughout. Different shades of yellow and blue are seen as there is yellow in the sky and also blue on the street. There are more cold colors than warm colors since the setting is in the morning and during the winter after it has rained. The people are dressed in winter clothes and some even have scarves on. Kinkade uses directional line to direct our attention to what is going on as our eyes go down the street. There is not an actual diagonal line that makes the road smaller, but the use of grass and the sidewalks does the trick. The people in the foreground are headed down the street leading the viewer's eyes head the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nirvana, lead by Kurt Cobain, intend to push messages that oppose the mainstream through their music and image. This title would certainly have worked in order to scare off the bands commercial fans. But I think this title could have been decoded on multiple levels depending on how well you know the band, same with the final title In Utero. "I hate myself I want to die" denotes that this album would have been depressing, personal and a reflection of Cobain's inner psyche. But as a true fan you might be able to decode it as ironic as Cobain constantly claims his music is not personal. Which is why this title could have worked to warn off the commercial fans. The potential title "I hate myself I want to die" is definitely not a typical title for an album. It feels personal, almost too personal and also very depressing, certainly not upbeat. Which definitely conveys how alternative Nirvana is, because music listeners only interested in popular music probably would not want to listen to an album about someone wanting to die. The Red Room, made by Henri Matisse in 1908 is and has been a highly popular piece of artwork. The art piece captured what it meant to be a fauvist artist with its bright colors and unrealistic appearance. Matisse and other fauvist artists decided to go against what society decided was normal at the time and succeeded. My recreation of the Red Room uses the same intensity of color, line, shape, form, texture, space, unity, balance, contrast, emphasis, rhythm, and proportion to represent the greatly valued art piece. The Red Room is an oil on canvas artwork that is exceedingly two dimensional while still showing examples of space. The art portrays a woman setting up a table within a highly saturated red room. The table and the wall paper are almost indistinguishable if it weren't for the thin wobbly line that differentiated them. A blue branch like pattern spans from the bottom of the canvas to the top while staying in the range of the table and wall. Also part of the pattern are vases of flowers that are additionally outlined in black. On the table are various circular fruits, mainly in the color yellow, green, orange, and red. Beside the fruit are long round bottomed vases that are half full of some sort of elixir. It is equipped with a three–dimensional energy that goes beyond the limits of the canvas and spreads itself onto real space. His creations invite us in to interact. He is one of the pioneers of Minimalism, with his famous black paintings (1958–60) ,for which he received early and overnight recognition and acclaim . Those "Black Paintings" consisted of, basically , 'stripes of black house paint laid out in stark repetitive, patterns separated by thin lines of unpainted canvas'.(Fig 1) In the evolution of its production, he becomes a pictorial reference to exuberance, through his layering buildup and works that are full of curves, twists and contortions. Between 1958 and 1960, with a series of 23 canvases known as Black Paintings, Frank Stella cancels out any trace of visual illusionist effects or references, and creates "non–relational images". He builds a linear pattern, organizing a structure of parallel stripes. With the phrase "What you see is what you see" , he lays out the elements of absolute flatness of his painting, building, by doing so, a logic rationale to their visual system. It is time for the reasoned geometric rigor of symmetry, regularity and serial repetition. In his minimalism, Stella eliminates color, he uses black paint and then metallic gray and copper paint to reduce the idea of illusion. By focusing on unity and the fabric surface homogeneity – the "all over" – he begins to express one of the aspects of the minimalist movement. These paintings are part of the exhibition "Sixteen Americans" held in 1959 at MoMA. Nonetheless, the reductive course that Stella chose takes him to an alternative path: he chooses to end austerity, by replacing monochromatic stripes with multiple colors and shades that immediately take the viewer to spatial interpretations. Stella's art does not take into account the limits of the traditional rectangular canvas , always reminding us that no matter what connotations his paintings may evoke ... Abstraction in the United States Through the Twentieth Century Abstraction is the creation of art without representation of objects, in which the artist has total freedom of the art that they are creating. I will be using three paintings from three different time periods in order to show the development and lasting effects of abstraction in the twentieth century. The first work that I will be looking at is Foghorns by Arthur Dove. I will use this piece to show the beginning of abstraction, and how ideas of abstraction were present before the movement began. The second painting that I will be looking at is Jackson Pollock's Lucifer. I will be using this painting as an example of the height of abstraction in the 20th century and will be discussing Pollock's influence on abstraction. The third piece of art I will be looking at is Many Mansion by Kerry James Marshall. I will use this work to show the remnants of Pollock's influence, and the influence of abstraction in general, on art in the later half of the century. For the development of this paper I looked at two of the course readings. The first reading that I used was The Tradition of the New by Harold Rosenberg. I used this article to show how Foghorns by Arthur Dove relates to abstraction, and to show how ideas in creation of this painting can be linked to ideas of abstract art. The second reading that I used for this paper was The Legacy of Jackson Pollock by Alan Kaprow. I used this article to gain information about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This surreal artist plunges into his fantasies creating mystical worlds filled with vivid hues and outstanding details. A long process awaited this particular piece. During one of his travels, the first draft got misplaced at a metro station for many months. Filled with hope, Zancan continued his research of varying structural forms that 1900's dome glasshouses used in order to incorporate them into his masterpiece. Fortunately, he found architectural inspiration within the walls of The Grand Palais in Paris. A digital painting was drafted using the old sketch he had initially lost in the metro and on, December 2005 the first draft was ready for critique. This digital prototype served as a guide for the 120 by 200 cm oil on canvas. On to the drawing board! Fascinated by the vivid world, Zancan gave two additional coats of oil on the art to enhance the painting's contrast before its final reveal. To this day, the original canvas remains by romantic's side in France. Zancan is strategic, he wants to increase his popularity seeing that, his art's value will grow along with it. The Artistic Influence Of Pablo Picasso's Le Rameur The Artistic Influence of Pablo Picasso The Houston Museum of Fine Arts carries this eye catching painting constructed by the late Pablo Picasso. This particular abstract painting of Picasso looks as if a man is sitting at a piano. Upon further observation of the painting I came to realize that the artwork was distinctively named Le Rameur , which means "The Rower" in French. The Rower can be placed in the art movement known as Analytic Cubism. Analytic Cubism refers to Picasso´s interest in breaking down or analyzing forms and space into smaller geometric shapes. Picasso choses muted colors, brown, ocher, and gray, to unify and flatten the composition. These colors allow the geometric shapes to meld with the two– dimensional surface on which it is painted. It really conveys a since of naturalism in the painting the way it depicts the environment around the ship. The texture of the canvas works very well with the subject matter portrayed in the painting. The strong ocean current and the cloudy mountain side are complimented by the canvas. The vast majority of games utilize some form of UI to display information such as health, skills, maps, ammo for a weapon, and more. Unity 3D offers a variety of UI elements that you can use in your game. In this post, I'll provide instructions on how to create a simple Pause menu in Unity. The Pause Menu will display text that says "Paused" and it will have three buttons; Resume, Retry and Quit. It will also display the game time since the scene loaded. By the end of the instruction, you should have something that looks sort of like this: How to Create a Simple Pause Menu in Unity To start off with, open up Unity and create an empty project. The style that West used is described best through his choice of colors that are very warm, and thus, in all probability influenced other painters who were part of the Romantic era of the Nineteenth Century. What is distinctive regarding this specific painting is that it merges art with recreation. The theme is deep as a result of the many things that are happening within the background and the foreground. As an example, there are bodies with garments ripped of from the battle and a fallen horse at the front center of the painting; however, the background also contains many winged demons and murderers who ride in from some distant place. As for the forms within the painting, they are realistic, and never flat. The horses are spherical and appear to be very strong; the lion 's claws are immense and tear blood from the flesh of the person the lion attacks. The forms are well accomplished and reinforce the drama of the scene, which the artist meant to depict. All of the shapes are meant to be full to provide weight and seriousness to the piece. None of the forms are lightweight or ethereal, even the clouds are giant and full. Most of the figures have significant shadowing and strips of highlight to deepen the distinction between the dark and lightweight colors. At the start of the novel Jane realised it was morally wrong in her society to be pregnant but she tries to be strong to admit the truth to her father: "'I'm pregnant' I said. These two words shocked even me with their crudeness. I instantly wished I'd said the softer 'I' m going to have a baby.' The blunt statement of the biological fact had the same after– echoes as a slap across his face." The writer has made me feel that Jane thought some weight would ease of her mind by being strong and telling her father, as he may understand as she is the only child with no mother. However the sharpness of the truth hits Jane at the same time as she admits the truth because she realises she is in the situation and she is not generally stating something that will have no affect on her. I think the dash reveals extra feelings, of how she now feels after admitting the truth but in addition to this the sentence before and after the dash is a vivid contrast. Before the dash it suggests what she said was simple and straightforward words but it compares the effect of the words after the dash which shows the words are shocking. 'Echoes as a slap across the face' shows how forceful the words actually sounded. This phrase is a simile which compares her words as being worse than a slap. Again, time only gives us one chance and we must use this chance wisely. We again should use this opportunity to cultivate an open mind. We should be flexible, adaptive and open to new experiences and find alternate ways of looking at things. If we choose to approach life in the same way day after day, as well as becoming bored and uninspired, we will reduce our intellectual aptitude. If, on the other hand, we seek new ways of doing and looking at things, we will expand our intellectual capability, find life way more exciting and broaden our experiences. By opening our mind to new experiences and opportunities we strengthen the belief in ourselves and it helps us live a happy and satisfying life. Time is precious, do not let it pass by. All the memories and knowledge we've gained throughout life is our own artwork, crafted by our very own hands. This artwork forms our masterpiece which was once just a blank canvas. Chrank Ctela Vs Frank Stella Kyndel Spoonemore Dr. Stephanie Chadwick Art Since 1940 – ARTS 2305 2 December 2017 Frank Stella's Inspiration Versus "What You See Is What You See" Frank Stella is an Abstract Expressionist and Minimalist artist who is known for several elements of his painting style such as his shaped canvases and his famous saying "what you see is what you see." In the mid–1960's, Stella created a series of paintings, the "Protractor Series," which are prominent for their semi–circle shaped canvases that resemble a protractor. Despite Stella's popular motto, "what you see is what you see," Stella did, in fact, have an inspiration for his famous masterpiece. Frank Stella created beautiful, simple paintings on canvas often using polymer paint. Very commonly, Stella's paintings were depicted on shaped canvases like his Protractor Series were painted on semi–circle shaped canvases. Stella had some more works, Irregular Polygons, that were composed on shaped canvases as well, like the ones listed below. Chocorua IV, Frank Stella Wolfeboro IV, Frank Stella Although Frank Stella is known for his abstract attitude and motto "what you see is what you see," it can be found that Stella did have an inspiration for his Protractor Series other than the mathematical tool. When looking at these paintings, an element that can easily catch the eye is the variety of different hues he chose and the intertwining "pathways" of color. • 71. Analysis Of Les Demoiselles DAvignon Les Demoiselles d'Avignon Abstract expressionism–Jackson Pollock Yif Chen Oct. 10th Les Demoiselles d'Avignon is probably the most representative painting that transits Picasso to cubism. It is a radical break from the conventional representation that for so long has been accepted in western culture because Picasso directly brings concepts like sexuality, female nude bodies, and sexually transmitted diseases to form a palpable three–dimensional fractured space. Picasso depicts the opposition of pleasure, which is sensual eroticism with sarcasm in a brothel located on a street named Avignon, takes women outward to audiences and engages with viewers. This painting is an untraditional and bold confrontation with the conventional art, thus, revolutionizing the entire art world. In this eye–catching depiction, five prostitutes with five different shocking positions cover all over the canvas. With different elements, like the African mask, disproportional gesture, and Iberian sculpture, complexity and contraction are vividly portrayed in this painting. Making use of aggressively nude bodies, Picasso boldly pulls exaggerated and distorted expression into the canvass, and forms a sense of flatness by directing an interior, closed, and almost claustrophobic space, because every prostitute is almost near the edge of canvass, but at the same time, is perfectly enclosed by the space. There is no illusion or visual space that creates depth; the whole canvas is filled with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. The Repetition Of Pablo Picasso's Harlequin In late 1915 Paris, Pablo Picasso painted "Harlequin." The abstract painting is oil on canvas, is displayed in portrait view and measures 6' ¼" by 3' 5 3/8". This was not the first time Picasso used the harlequin figure. During his "Rose Period" (early 1900's) the harlequin figure was a top choice for Picasso. Picasso is known for his "Blue Period," "Rose Period," and his "Protocubism" he co– founded Cubism, invented the collage, and aided in the development of both Surrealism and Symbolism. Picasso truly abandoned the ideals of realistic painting and was drawn to the abstract. "Harlequin" is a synthetic cubist painting or a painting marked by the use of color, and decoration, while keeping flat shapes that was disjointed. The principle of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He paints the figure in an traditional argyle like pattern of a harlequin, which really helps to make the figure stand out against some rather abstract cubistic questionable pieces of furniture (?). The belt is easily seen, as are two distinct legs. One arm seems to be presented by the negative space between two other objects. He again uses negative space to depict the head or the start of the head as it only includes one eye. Considering the repeated use of the harlequin figure it seems that Picasso found it to be a pleasing figure to paint. It does not appear this harlequin is a happy figure as the colors are deeper and seem to be more muted and depressing. The use of a black background seems to mirror the idea of it being more depressing. Overall, he uses a consistent layer of paint; however, in the smallest rectangular shape the mixed colors of yellow seem to represent a mismatch of happy and sad. The happiness of the bright yellow paint and of a normal harlequin is being taken over by despair and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 77. Analysis Of The Poem ' Tears Of The ' Giants ' BASIC FACTS The oil on canvas "Tears of Joy in the Garden of Giants" by Michael Zancan was created in south west France back in January of 2011. Zancan is strategic, he wants to increase his popularity seeing that, his art's value will growth along with it. • 79. My New Body Of Work I would say my justifications are leading and concerning on being mindful. I would describe mindfulness, as a way of life that is peacefully perceptive, deprived of the stimulus of cravings or viewpoints. That is how I behave in the studio. I dominate my rational brain with technical focuses so that it stays occupied. As I am engaged with technique a fragment of myself is allowed to observe unrestricted by my thought process. It is that openness that truly enlightens my work. My new body of work is a continuation of the work I have initiated earlier this year. It consists of a series of large canvases where I am painting a distorted enlarged self. I paint with oil colors on Italian linen canvases. This paint layer gets built up in a traditional lean–to–fat technique. I used to paint women portraits, but I gradually became more interested in flesh and less in the facial expressions. Coming to an understanding about how the body alone is a vehicle to convey emotions and how those moods can be exuding from a flat surface. Throughout my artistic growth, the contemporary British artist Jenny Saville, that dedicated her career to traditional figurative oil painting, has acted a massive part in my developing work. The subjects of her paintings, the large canvasses and bodies exposing the flesh. The explanation of her work, tends to be eccentric and encompasses discourses about feminism i.e.: 1 'feminist aesthetics of disgust ', her use of uneven scratch marks, the strong and ...
