CONSTRUCTION
Mood boards are used in a variety of disciplines.Mostcommonly used by Interior Designers and Fashion
designers, who group samples together on a poster to show a client(homeowner or fashion designer) what
type of feel or atmosphere the work will create.
In essence they area compilation of inspirational elements used by designers to flesh out ideas atthe
beginningof a design project. Mood boards areso much fun, they hardly feel likework. Designingloosely lets
you brainstorm, exploreand play with different styles without all the limitationsa layout(and codingrealities)
will later impose. They also keep revision cycles to a minimum, something every designer can appreciate.
Things that can be explored in the mood board includephotography style, colour palettes, typography,
patterns, and the overall look and feel of the site. Soft/hard? Grungy/clean? Dark/light? A rough collageof
colours, textures and pictures is all ittakes to evoke a specific styleor feeling.
