When you create your video file, you will realize that there are several compression types for you
to select. Different compression has different quality. Here let us take a look at some common
video compression type.
AVI (___________________________________)
 An audio-video standard designed by Microsoft. Apparently proprietary and Microsoft
Windows-specific.
MPG (___________________________________)
 An ISO committee that generates standards for digital video compression and audio.
 _______________ is optimized for CD-ROM and is the basis for MP3.
 _______________ is aimed at broadcast quality video for applications such as digital
television set-top boxes and DVD.
 _______________ is a standard for low bandwidth video telephony and multimedia on the
World-Wide Web. MPEG-3 was merged into MPEG-2.
MOV (___________________________________)
 QuickTime files can be run in QuickTime Movie Player only. It has the basis of the MPEG-4
standard. It is well-suited to capture, editing, archiving, distribution, and playback (as
opposed to the simple file-as-stream approach of MPEG-1 and MPEG-2, which are poorly
suited to editing).
RM (___________________________________)
 RealNetworks RealVideo files can be run in Real Player only. RealVideo is a format for digital
video from RealNetworks Inc. Since there is a large compression on the video file, i.e., the file
size is small, so it is a suitable format for video distribution on the Internet.
WMV (___________________________________)
 It is developed and controlled by Microsoft. WMV is a generic name of Microsoft's video
encoding solutions and doesn't necessarily define the technology what it uses.
