Summary Of A Modest Proposal By Jonathan Swift
With his pamphlet, Jonathan Swift addresses the problem of the poor, the needy, and how they
should be taken care of in a sarcastic and unimaginable way. He writes, "A Modest Proposal: For
Preventing the Children of Poor People in Ireland, from Being a Burden on Their Parents or
Country, and for Making Them Beneficial to the Public" to address the problem of how the poor are
being treated. Swift is a political journalist, clergyman in the Angelical Church, and Dean of St.
Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin who uses strong satire to communicate his opinions on how he
disagrees with how the poor are being treated. Swift uses his satire when explaining his opinion that
many of the rich only care that the poor are not being a burden on them and not...show more content...
In his argument, he presents a great appeal to pathos when he shocks his entire audience, and
proposes such an outrageous proposal appalling everyone who reads his pamphlet. However, he
takes his satire too far and ends up showing his lack of ethos and appeal to moralistic logic
creating gaps in his argument that keep his argument from reaching its purpose and influencing
the majority of his audience. Swift's over use of sarcasm shows his lack of credibility to those
parties he insults. Even though his argument is satirical, he only shows one side of logic
disregarding moral logic that society enforces leading his audience to focus more on how he
could even propose such an idea than how they are to help the poor. Moreover, Swift never
directs his audience on what to do next about the situation of the poor and instead uses his satire to
show what should not be done leaving his audience with no clue what to do next. However, Swift's
article presented a solid claim in pathos centered on his shocking satire and how to deal with the
poor and used the appeal of satire to influence his readers to look into the situation and how to help

Project Proposal Essay
Project Proposal INTRODUCTION
Topic and Purpose
This proposal identifies the need for a document, which will propose and develop reasons why a
for–profit transportation service for Kent should be perused. This service should be considered
because of the recent parking and commuting problems both on and off campus.
There have been many reasons why on–campus parking has become difficult in recent years.
Increased student enrollment at Kent State University has posed many problems. The parking lots
cannot facilitate the growing need for vehicle parking. Campus officials have undertaken
construction projects to curb the parking problem, but these renovations have closed lots in the near
term. Also, the increased enrollment of...show more content...
The demand for student bus transportation has far exceeded the supply. Also, vandalism and
automotive theft has nearly doubled since 1997. DUI convictions have quadrupled in the city of
Kent since last year. The need for public transportation is quite clear.
Because of this evident crisis in transportation, a solution must be in order.
Scope
This proposal will outline and validate the impending document generally. First the general nature of
the document will be discussed; then the ensuing proposal will be outlined.
DISCUSSION OF PROPOSAL

A Sample Group Counseling Project Proposal
A group Counseling Project Proposal – sample
INTRODUCTION
What is Group Counseling?
Purpose of the group counseling varies from group to group. It can be therapeutic, educational, or
helping people to make fundamental changes in their way of thinking, feeling and behaving (Corey,
2004, p. 7). Group counseling/therapy has the advantage of being more effective than individual
therapy because, it more closely stimulates social interactions and interpersonal communication
patterns than does individual counseling (Kottler, 2004, p. 260). The techniques and strategies use in
group counseling are to help resolve members' interpersonal conflict, promote greater self–awareness
and insight, and help them work to eliminate their self–defeating...show more content...
The Centre has conducted more than fifty group–counseling programs in twenty schools in this
community, both public and private, during the last four years. It also has conducted a variety of
group counseling programs for the families, youth, college students, teacher training institutes, army,
senior citizens and tourist resorts. Individual counseling service is also proceeding on a daily basis.
RATIONALE
The following are a brief description of the type of group, the target population, basic purposes of the
group, rationale for this group, requirements to join the group, and the theoretical approaches.
Type of Group: This proposal is aimed to conduct a short– term, "personal–growth type group".
Population: The counseling group will be conducted for the adolescent male students of the Public
Secondary Boy's School. This is achieved through realistic goal setting by the group members with
the guidance of the group leader. Purpose: The purpose of this group is to facilitate personal growth
by enhancing self–esteem and developing a positive self–image, so that the members will gain
self–awareness of their own feelings, personal values and needs. They also will increase
self–understanding and self–acceptance for better functioning and leading a better life in the future.
Rational for the Group: The need for conducting a group counseling program for adolescents is
crucial because they are in a very critical stage in their life. Group couselling for

Memo
Date: April 10, 2015
To: Amanda Rico, Instructor: English 210 Section 581
From: Jared Glenn
Subject: MWP 2 Outline of Report Completion
Purpose
The purpose of this memo is to provide an outline of the topics I plan to conduct further research
on and compile that research in a formalized report over the specifics of those topics. The final
result will be a proposed program, backed with modern research sourcing, ready for completion.
Introduction
In reference to my last memo, I discussed plans to make alterations to Francis Hall, a newly
renovated building on the Texas A&M Campus for the Construction Science Department and student.
Specifically, the first task is survey to compile major courses of action, followed by compiling a
proposal in conjunction with a general contractor for consideration by the Board of Regents. The
original renovation had a budget of 5 million dollars, which included classrooms, a computer lab,
student lounge, lavatories, and staff offices. The renovation is suitable for the current status of
Construction Science; however the growing program will soon outgrow the building. For these
reasons, I am writing a follow up memo of the topics to be included in my upcoming researched
recommendation report.
Tasks to be Researched
With approval to conduct research on my proposed tasks, I will begin by restating each task from
the original memo, followed by the subtasks I will research for each main task.
Main Task 1. Research student opinion, and popular

Do you know the similarities and differences between a funding proposal and a research proposal?
According to the website learnerassociates.net/proposal, writing a funding proposal was created to
help empower people to be successful in gaining funds for projects that provide worthwhile social
service. Aresearch proposal considers your overall topic ideas, your research question, your
research process, and your sources and scaffolds what the next steps will be for the project. There
are similarities and differences between writing a funding proposal and a research proposal.
A research proposal is most often written by scholars seeking grant funding for a research project or
it's the first step in getting approval to write a doctoral dissertation. Even if this is just a course
assignment, the introduction is the initial pitch of an idea or a thorough examination of the
significance of a research problem. After reading the introduction, readers should not only
understand what is being proposed. Most proposals do not include an abstract before the
introduction. Background and Significance, this section can be melded into your introduction or
you can create a separate section to help with the organization and narrative flow of your proposal.
This is where you explain the context of your proposal and describe in detail why it's important.
Approach writing this section with the thought that you can't assume your readers will know as
much about the research problem as you do. Note

Grant Proposal Paper
Grant proposal A was about implementing an expansion to ABC's Alternative Breaks program to
send groups of students to various communities around the country. Overall, I felt this grant was well
written. This grant proposal is straight to the point, but gives enough information within most areas
where clarification in not necessary. This grantproposal falls under the community service, and civic
engagement categories. Although this grant proposal is for an expansion of preexisting program, I
can see why they want to expand the program. The program is helps bring awareness to social
problems, promotes physical activity, and helps entice people to engage in their communities. I feel
that this expansion program would benefit communities,...show more content...
The grant proposal application states that the project must have an end date on or before August 31,
2014. However, this proposal says the project end date is ongoing, which violates the rules. There
was no indication how the project would impact those involved, or how it would impact the
community. This proposal never indicated how they would evaluate the project itself once it was
over, and the project had no prediction of the sustainability after the grant either. The only strengths
this grant proposal had was providing a budget match, and fitting within the community service, and
civic engagement categories. I felt this grant proposal was pointless, and I would not fund this
proposal at all.
Grant proposal C proposed for a community mural to be created in various alleys within the
downtown area. This proposal falls within the community service, service–learning, and civic
engagement categories. This grant proposal did not clearly state why it is imperative this project
should be funded. Besides stating illegal activities like tagging would decrease, essentially there
were no problems that would be addressed by this proposal. However, the proposal did state
property values would increase, and beautiful pictures would be displayed for the community to see,
if this project was funded. The impact for the community could be beneficial, and this is conveying
through the writing. I feel the amount of

A Research Proposal On Suicide Essay
Statement of Interest
Suicide by cop commonly abbreviated as SBC is a topic that embraces a self–explanatory name.
However, for the purpose of this research proposal, a conceptual definition will provide a better
direction in the questions to be asked and addressed in searching for Scholarly articles. The working
definition is, someone who intentionally puts himself in a circumstance where they are deemed as a
lethal threat to society or police officials. Taking the necessary actions to put themselves in
immediate danger by forcing officers to take action in using lethal force to stop what is considered to
be an imminent threat. The end result is suicide. Whether the reason for suicide is that the person
was afraid to intentionally inflict pain on himself, or religious reasons that came into question
when deliberately taking one's own life. It is never something easily accepted by an officer. With
the many causes and effects of SbC the focus of this research proposal will address what kind of
individuals pose the most threat to society and police officers in instances of SBC. Additionally,
what features make them dangerous and how to be able to identify these features? In other words,
are there things set in place to help officers combat against scenarios of SBC. As well as what are
the negative outcomes of SBC and what kind of help can be provided for the officers affected by
these traumatic instances.

Essay On A Modest Proposal
A Modest Proposal is an audacious piece of writing aimed for more than just the country of Ireland.
Jonathan Swift develops an objective plan of suggestions that would ironically do the complete
opposite of what he wanted to achieve. His primary goal, along with many others, was to improve
the country's economy. This in turn led to an exaggerated piece in which the author recommends his
country to eat the less valuable of the bunch; hoping to decrease hunger, overpopulation, and increase
market income. Swift's plan begins with a solution to end poverty. The proposal explains that the
families with the least amount of money but have the most mouths to feed, should fatten their
youngest children and sell them to land owners or meat markets. In this scenario, Swift treats the
youngest children (starting at age one) as pieces of meat. This theory is expressed through a set of
statistics, in which Swift's argument becomes stronger. Thus, his solution would help decrease
unemployment in the country and allow those big families to inherit better income.
Furthermore, the author inclines the reader to wrap their head around a topic that is morally corrupt
through a series of ironic ideas....show more content...
Fattening children and feeding them to the rich signifies the social injustice found within Ireland, the
rich are prioritized while the poor seem to be accused for their position and their lack of compassion.
Swift's ultimate argument compares cannibalism to human corruption. Eating each other would be
ruining the nation, which was a hypothetical solution used to solve the issues of inhumanity. This
proposal explains that the nation is actually consuming itself. The social and political problems of
Ireland are the primary concern within this piece of writing, although it seems as if the author was
originally only interested for economic prosperity as the normal, everyday citizen truly only worries

I.Introduction
A.Audience Participation
1.How many of you see poverty and hunger as a problem in the world? How many of you think that
you cannot possibly help solve this problem?
B.Introduce self and topic
1.According to an article written by Jason M. Breslow, as of 2011, children had the highestpoverty
level with over 16 million children living in poverty. That is just in the United States. Imagine the
number of children living in poverty in the entire world.
2.My name is Alice and I will present to you the satirical styles of Jonathan Swift and explain why
"A Modest Proposal" will lead people in the right direction to help those in poverty.
3.Before I continue, here is the definition of...show more content...
Most women decided to get abortions because they could not afford to take of care a child.
a.It is calculated that about 120,000 children are born to poor parents every year (Swift 763). The
price of nursing for one year is two shillings. That comes out to about 240,000 shillings every year
that will be given to the breeders. Since the women will be getting money for their infants, getting an
abortion will be like burning money.
2.Another advantage of selling children to the wealthy is that it will make marriages better.
a.Swift writes that men will begin to appreciate their wives while they are with child as much as
they appreciate "their cows in cattle" (Swift 766). He also believes men will stop beating, kicking,
and using other acts of domestic violence towards their wives because they will be terrified of the
possibility of a miscarriage.
C.Counterargument
1.An opposing argument that can be raised is the idea that "the number of people will be thereby
much lessened in the kingdom" (Swift 767). This argument suggests that if the children keep getting
eaten, there will be less people to reproduce more children.
a.Swift breaks down the number of children born per year. He calculated that of the 120,000 poor
children, 20,000 should be reserved for breeding purposes and Вј of that amount should be males. So
one male can serve four female breeders. The rest of the 100,000 can be offered for sale at one

Outline Of Proposed Proposal For A Proposal
Introduction The introduction of the proposal should be one complete page long and will most
likely be divided into two paragraphs. Notice that the section headings (Table of Contents, Abstract,
Introduction, etc.) are still formatted in Times New Roman, 12 point font. Titles, cover pages, and
section headings do not need to be in oversized font, but these may be bolded or underlined to create
a separation between the heading and the text. Also, notice that the section heading appears on the
first line and the text begins on the second line (extra space and/or skipped lines should not be
present). The introduction will give more details about the problem that the proposal solution will
address. While the problem was identified in the letter of transmittal and the abstract of the
proposal, this section will allow for more details to be identified about the exact problem. The
reader should have a complete understanding of exactly what led the author to write this proposal.
This will be the only place that the problem will be discussed in detail and may include data or
statistics related to the problem. Ideally, this portion of the proposal should not include any figures,
tables, or illustrations. Instead, those can be utilized in the body of the proposal to explain the
solution plan and benefits. The second paragraph of the introduction can discuss the purpose of the
proposal (the solution and request). This should briefly introduce or outline what the proposal
suggests as

Developing a Thesis Statement
Developing a Thesis Statement After choosing a topic, it is important to understand the role a
thesis statement in the essay. A thesis statement serves as a road sign that gives sign of what the
writing is intended to tackle; it is the answer to the question asked. A thesis statement is an
assertion; it takes a stand announcing the writer's position on the topic. It is important for the
writer to explore the topic to find a particular narrow subject. It is also important for the writer to
know the purpose and audience of the paper. A thesis statement for a narrative essay needs to be
vivid and captivating. The starting point is asking a question. A thesis can be developed by
answering a question. For example a family reunion, what role does a family reunion play in
strengthening the family? Then formulation of a sentence that serves as a thesis: "family reunion
plays a key role of strengthening family ties by..." here it is advisable for the writer to follow a rigid
structure, know the basic formula to keep the statement within the acceptable length as well as to
organize the argument. In addition, following a pattern that holds the core idea will aid in
developing a clear subject. Here, an idea does something because [reason(s)], Family reunion
strengthens family ties [they help keep fond memories]. This then becomes, because [reason(s)],
[idea] [does something], because [they help keep fond memories], [family reunion] [strengthens
family ties]. This is refined to although

discuss the question, what Americans can do to reduce climate change health effects? Various
research publications by credible sources advise, global warming climate change has an affect on
human health. Climate change and the impact on human health can be connected through direct or
indirect variables.
The Importance

making some positive changes in their lives. This is an important issue to me because global warming
is an issue that just about everyone. Not enough people take the climate change situation...show more

I also want to persuade these young adults to start making some minor changes to their everyday
life so that we can stop causing changes to the climate, overall helping put an end to global warming
itself. A myth being said is that global warming is normal and that because civilization has survived
droughts and temperature shifts before, we can all adapt to climate change.
What I want my readers to learn, as well as myself, is that these current climate changes will bring
major hardships and economic dislocations. I want my readers to be able to really learn something
from my research. I hope they can learn the importance of global warming and the effects it has on
everyone. At the end of this research paper, we should all have a better understanding of what
exactly global warming is, what is causing the changes in the climate, and changes we can all make
to prevent these causes.
Logical and Emotional Appeals
Climate change has logical and emotional appeals that might best engage the intended reader to
become interested in reading further into the research paper that will be presented or perhaps spark
an overall general interest in the subject. Listed below are various logical and emotional appeals that
may draw the intended reader into the climate change subject area:

Outline And Outline Of A Thesis Essay
1.Thesis: I think your thesis is strong and obvious throughout your paper. So I don't think that will
be something you need to change dramatically. Instead, I think the main thing you should focus on
for Draft 2 is organizing your paper so it is all supporting information for your thesis. In both your
background and analysis section, ask yourself whether the information is there to support your thesis
or whether it a secondary point. If it is a secondary point, then I probably wouldn't include it.
2.Organization: I would encourage you to try and increase your use of both umbrella paragraphs and
topic/thesis sentences. Generally, at the beginning of each section or subsection, you should have an
umbrella/roadmap paragraph to explain what is to come. That way a reader really understanding
where you are going and how things fit together. Same with topic/thesis sentences. From a structural
point of view, your background may end up being a bit long. Youwant your background to be shorter
than your analysis section. At your current fourteen pages, you may want to watch out for the
background section overshadowing the analysis section. I think there is some room to cut, but you
are going to have to figure out what it ends up being important to your thesis, and what is noise that
is only related to your thesis.
3.Background: I think you are off to a good start with your background section. I would consider
providing more organization or context for the section on the PLCAA. As

The Proposal Essay
Anton Checkov's The Proposal, is a perfect example of the use of literary devices in an effort to
create dramatic conflict. The well–meaning characters create massive tension with one another over
a simple and avoidable misunderstanding. Checkov's plot and dialogue turn what should have been a
joyous occasion into a full–fledged argument about the land rights of two neighboring families.
Additionally, Checkov uses stage direction to bring out the anger and frustration of the three
characters. Checkov's one–act play exemplifies the interaction of different literary devices when
creating dramatic tension in a play. In the beginning of the play Lumov, Chubocov's neighbor,
enters his neighbor's home to ask him for permission to marry his daughter. At first, Chubocov is
afraid that his neighbor has come to borrow money when, in an aside he states, "He's come to
borrow money! Shan't give him any!" The stage direction here may influence the audience to
believe that Chubocov is inconvenienced by the presence of his neighbor, which will be important
later on in the play. Subsequently, Lomov reveals his true intentions when he says, "The fact is, I've
come to ask the hand of your daughter, Natalya Stepanovna, in marriage." Lumov is clearly elated
by the idea and...show more content...
During his would–be proposal, he casually referenced a plot of land, that the two families share, as
his own, which immediately angered Natalya. There is a brilliant use of dramatic irony here as the
audience is aware that Lomov was going to propose. Natalya doesn't know his true intentions, which
builds up tension for the audience. The argument continues for some time until Lomov is queued by
stage direction to grasp his heart from the stress. The audience is fearful for Lomov's life, but the
tension is even more intense because the man arrived with honorable

My three major sources stood out when writing my research paper on climate change. My main

A Research Proposal On Big Data
Research Proposal The research proposal can be developed from the topic of big data to match
up the demands of enormous data flow in the dynamic world. Data visualization tools at
significant cost can help up in analytics of big data and can form an innovative research proposal
for analysis and extensive research. The real time data and the use of techniques of big data in
this domain can form an excellent topic of research calling for formulating methodologies and
strategies to tap the untapped potential of this field and to experiment more in the field of
research. Since, real time processing acts as a game changer in big data the research developed
would be to have an insight into real time analytics and streaming data to analyze the flow and to
evaluate it using certain tools and techniques. This is one of the greatest challenge that is acting
as a key barrier in widespread adoption and pervasive use of the tools fostering for development
and progress in this field of study. The real time of the big data analytics would require some of
the unique features and special computing powers and potentials (Gantz, 2012). Tools have to made

  • 2. Summary Of A Modest Proposal By Jonathan Swift With his pamphlet, Jonathan Swift addresses the problem of the poor, the needy, and how they should be taken care of in a sarcastic and unimaginable way. He writes, "A Modest Proposal: For Preventing the Children of Poor People in Ireland, from Being a Burden on Their Parents or Country, and for Making Them Beneficial to the Public" to address the problem of how the poor are being treated. Swift is a political journalist, clergyman in the Angelical Church, and Dean of St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin who uses strong satire to communicate his opinions on how he disagrees with how the poor are being treated. Swift uses his satire when explaining his opinion that many of the rich only care that the poor are not being a burden on them and not...show more content... In his argument, he presents a great appeal to pathos when he shocks his entire audience, and proposes such an outrageous proposal appalling everyone who reads his pamphlet. However, he takes his satire too far and ends up showing his lack of ethos and appeal to moralistic logic creating gaps in his argument that keep his argument from reaching its purpose and influencing the majority of his audience. Swift's over use of sarcasm shows his lack of credibility to those parties he insults. Even though his argument is satirical, he only shows one side of logic disregarding moral logic that society enforces leading his audience to focus more on how he could even propose such an idea than how they are to help the poor. Moreover, Swift never directs his audience on what to do next about the situation of the poor and instead uses his satire to show what should not be done leaving his audience with no clue what to do next. However, Swift's article presented a solid claim in pathos centered on his shocking satire and how to deal with the poor and used the appeal of satire to influence his readers to look into the situation and how to help the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Project Proposal Essay Project Proposal INTRODUCTION Topic and Purpose This proposal identifies the need for a document, which will propose and develop reasons why a for–profit transportation service for Kent should be perused. This service should be considered because of the recent parking and commuting problems both on and off campus. There have been many reasons why on–campus parking has become difficult in recent years. Increased student enrollment at Kent State University has posed many problems. The parking lots cannot facilitate the growing need for vehicle parking. Campus officials have undertaken construction projects to curb the parking problem, but these renovations have closed lots in the near term. Also, the increased enrollment of...show more content... The demand for student bus transportation has far exceeded the supply. Also, vandalism and automotive theft has nearly doubled since 1997. DUI convictions have quadrupled in the city of Kent since last year. The need for public transportation is quite clear. Because of this evident crisis in transportation, a solution must be in order. Scope This proposal will outline and validate the impending document generally. First the general nature of the document will be discussed; then the ensuing proposal will be outlined. DISCUSSION OF PROPOSAL Proposal The proposed document must be constructed to demonstrate the need for a new for–profit transportation service. It will present a business plan, and then go into detail about characteristics specific to this service. Methodology Information about competitive transportation services will be gathered. Questionnaires will be distributed to students and faculty of Kent State University in order to gather customer insight. Also, a financial consulting firm will be hired to provide professional assistance. Document Outline The proposed document will include the following specific sections. This outline is tentative and may be adjusted in accord with new developments.

It can be therapeutic, educational, or helping people to make fundamental changes in their way of thinking, feeling and behaving (Corey, 2004, p. 7). Group counseling/therapy has the advantage of being more effective than individual therapy because, it more closely stimulates social interactions and interpersonal communication patterns than does individual counseling (Kottler, 2004, p. 260). The techniques and strategies use in group counseling are to help resolve members' interpersonal conflict, promote greater self–awareness and insight, and help them work to eliminate their self–defeating...show more content... • 6. Outline Of A Proposal Outline Memo Date: April 10, 2015 To: Amanda Rico, Instructor: English 210 Section 581 From: Jared Glenn Subject: MWP 2 Outline of Report Completion Purpose The purpose of this memo is to provide an outline of the topics I plan to conduct further research on and compile that research in a formalized report over the specifics of those topics. The final result will be a proposed program, backed with modern research sourcing, ready for completion. Introduction In reference to my last memo, I discussed plans to make alterations to Francis Hall, a newly renovated building on the Texas A&M Campus for the Construction Science Department and student. Specifically, the first task is survey to compile major courses of action, followed by compiling a proposal in conjunction with a general contractor for consideration by the Board of Regents. The original renovation had a budget of 5 million dollars, which included classrooms, a computer lab, student lounge, lavatories, and staff offices. The renovation is suitable for the current status of Construction Science; however the growing program will soon outgrow the building. For these reasons, I am writing a follow up memo of the topics to be included in my upcoming researched recommendation report. Tasks to be Researched With approval to conduct research on my proposed tasks, I will begin by restating each task from the original memo, followed by the subtasks I will research for each main task. Main Task 1. Research student opinion, and popular Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 10. Do you know the similarities and differences between a funding proposal and a research proposal? According to the website learnerassociates.net/proposal, writing a funding proposal was created to help empower people to be successful in gaining funds for projects that provide worthwhile social service. Aresearch proposal considers your overall topic ideas, your research question, your research process, and your sources and scaffolds what the next steps will be for the project. There are similarities and differences between writing a funding proposal and a research proposal. A research proposal is most often written by scholars seeking grant funding for a research project or it's the first step in getting approval to write a doctoral dissertation. Even if this is just a course assignment, the introduction is the initial pitch of an idea or a thorough examination of the significance of a research problem. After reading the introduction, readers should not only understand what is being proposed. Most proposals do not include an abstract before the introduction. Background and Significance, this section can be melded into your introduction or you can create a separate section to help with the organization and narrative flow of your proposal. This is where you explain the context of your proposal and describe in detail why it's important. Approach writing this section with the thought that you can't assume your readers will know as much about the research problem as you do. Note Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Overall, I felt this grant was well written. This grant proposal is straight to the point, but gives enough information within most areas where clarification in not necessary. This grantproposal falls under the community service, and civic engagement categories. Although this grant proposal is for an expansion of preexisting program, I can see why they want to expand the program. The program is helps bring awareness to social problems, promotes physical activity, and helps entice people to engage in their communities. I feel that this expansion program would benefit communities,...show more content... The grant proposal application states that the project must have an end date on or before August 31, 2014. However, this proposal says the project end date is ongoing, which violates the rules. There was no indication how the project would impact those involved, or how it would impact the community. This proposal never indicated how they would evaluate the project itself once it was over, and the project had no prediction of the sustainability after the grant either. The only strengths this grant proposal had was providing a budget match, and fitting within the community service, and civic engagement categories. I felt this grant proposal was pointless, and I would not fund this proposal at all. Grant proposal C proposed for a community mural to be created in various alleys within the downtown area. This proposal falls within the community service, service–learning, and civic engagement categories. This grant proposal did not clearly state why it is imperative this project should be funded. Besides stating illegal activities like tagging would decrease, essentially there were no problems that would be addressed by this proposal. However, the proposal did state property values would increase, and beautiful pictures would be displayed for the community to see, if this project was funded. The impact for the community could be beneficial, and this is conveying through the writing. I feel the amount of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

However, for the purpose of this research proposal, a conceptual definition will provide a better direction in the questions to be asked and addressed in searching for Scholarly articles. The working definition is, someone who intentionally puts himself in a circumstance where they are deemed as a lethal threat to society or police officials. Taking the necessary actions to put themselves in immediate danger by forcing officers to take action in using lethal force to stop what is considered to be an imminent threat. The end result is suicide. Whether the reason for suicide is that the person was afraid to intentionally inflict pain on himself, or religious reasons that came into question when deliberately taking one's own life. It is never something easily accepted by an officer. With the many causes and effects of SbC the focus of this research proposal will address what kind of individuals pose the most threat to society and police officers in instances of SBC. Additionally, what features make them dangerous and how to be able to identify these features? In other words, are there things set in place to help officers combat against scenarios of SBC. As well as what are the negative outcomes of SBC and what kind of help can be provided for the officers affected by these traumatic instances. • 13. Essay On A Modest Proposal A Modest Proposal is an audacious piece of writing aimed for more than just the country of Ireland. Jonathan Swift develops an objective plan of suggestions that would ironically do the complete opposite of what he wanted to achieve. His primary goal, along with many others, was to improve the country's economy. This in turn led to an exaggerated piece in which the author recommends his country to eat the less valuable of the bunch; hoping to decrease hunger, overpopulation, and increase market income. Swift's plan begins with a solution to end poverty. The proposal explains that the families with the least amount of money but have the most mouths to feed, should fatten their youngest children and sell them to land owners or meat markets. In this scenario, Swift treats the youngest children (starting at age one) as pieces of meat. This theory is expressed through a set of statistics, in which Swift's argument becomes stronger. Thus, his solution would help decrease unemployment in the country and allow those big families to inherit better income. Furthermore, the author inclines the reader to wrap their head around a topic that is morally corrupt through a series of ironic ideas....show more content... Fattening children and feeding them to the rich signifies the social injustice found within Ireland, the rich are prioritized while the poor seem to be accused for their position and their lack of compassion. Swift's ultimate argument compares cannibalism to human corruption. Eating each other would be ruining the nation, which was a hypothetical solution used to solve the issues of inhumanity. This proposal explains that the nation is actually consuming itself. The social and political problems of Ireland are the primary concern within this piece of writing, although it seems as if the author was originally only interested for economic prosperity as the normal, everyday citizen truly only worries about Get more content on HelpWriting.net

How many of you think that you cannot possibly help solve this problem? B.Introduce self and topic 1.According to an article written by Jason M. Breslow, as of 2011, children had the highestpoverty level with over 16 million children living in poverty. That is just in the United States. Imagine the number of children living in poverty in the entire world. 2.My name is Alice and I will present to you the satirical styles of Jonathan Swift and explain why "A Modest Proposal" will lead people in the right direction to help those in poverty. 3.Before I continue, here is the definition of...show more content... Most women decided to get abortions because they could not afford to take of care a child. a.It is calculated that about 120,000 children are born to poor parents every year (Swift 763). The price of nursing for one year is two shillings. That comes out to about 240,000 shillings every year that will be given to the breeders. Since the women will be getting money for their infants, getting an abortion will be like burning money. 2.Another advantage of selling children to the wealthy is that it will make marriages better. a.Swift writes that men will begin to appreciate their wives while they are with child as much as they appreciate "their cows in cattle" (Swift 766). He also believes men will stop beating, kicking, and using other acts of domestic violence towards their wives because they will be terrified of the possibility of a miscarriage. C.Counterargument 1.An opposing argument that can be raised is the idea that "the number of people will be thereby much lessened in the kingdom" (Swift 767). This argument suggests that if the children keep getting eaten, there will be less people to reproduce more children. a.Swift breaks down the number of children born per year. He calculated that of the 120,000 poor children, 20,000 should be reserved for breeding purposes and Вј of that amount should be males. So one male can serve four female breeders. Notice that the section headings (Table of Contents, Abstract, Introduction, etc.) are still formatted in Times New Roman, 12 point font. Titles, cover pages, and section headings do not need to be in oversized font, but these may be bolded or underlined to create a separation between the heading and the text. Also, notice that the section heading appears on the first line and the text begins on the second line (extra space and/or skipped lines should not be present). The introduction will give more details about the problem that the proposal solution will address. While the problem was identified in the letter of transmittal and the abstract of the proposal, this section will allow for more details to be identified about the exact problem. The reader should have a complete understanding of exactly what led the author to write this proposal. This will be the only place that the problem will be discussed in detail and may include data or statistics related to the problem. Ideally, this portion of the proposal should not include any figures, tables, or illustrations. Instead, those can be utilized in the body of the proposal to explain the solution plan and benefits. The second paragraph of the introduction can discuss the purpose of the proposal (the solution and request). This should briefly introduce or outline what the proposal suggests as Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Developing a Thesis Statement Developing a Thesis Statement After choosing a topic, it is important to understand the role a thesis statement in the essay. A thesis statement serves as a road sign that gives sign of what the writing is intended to tackle; it is the answer to the question asked. A thesis statement is an assertion; it takes a stand announcing the writer's position on the topic. It is important for the writer to explore the topic to find a particular narrow subject. It is also important for the writer to know the purpose and audience of the paper. A thesis statement for a narrative essay needs to be vivid and captivating. The starting point is asking a question. A thesis can be developed by answering a question. For example a family reunion, what role does a family reunion play in strengthening the family? Then formulation of a sentence that serves as a thesis: "family reunion plays a key role of strengthening family ties by..." here it is advisable for the writer to follow a rigid structure, know the basic formula to keep the statement within the acceptable length as well as to organize the argument. In addition, following a pattern that holds the core idea will aid in developing a clear subject. Here, an idea does something because [reason(s)], Family reunion strengthens family ties [they help keep fond memories]. This then becomes, because [reason(s)], [idea] [does something], because [they help keep fond memories], [family reunion] [strengthens family ties]. The Importance I feel as though if we start at a young age then we will encourage more young people to start making some positive changes in their lives. This is an important issue to me because global warming is an issue that just about everyone. Not enough people take the climate change situation...show more content... I also want to persuade these young adults to start making some minor changes to their everyday life so that we can stop causing changes to the climate, overall helping put an end to global warming itself. A myth being said is that global warming is normal and that because civilization has survived droughts and temperature shifts before, we can all adapt to climate change. What I want my readers to learn, as well as myself, is that these current climate changes will bring major hardships and economic dislocations. I want my readers to be able to really learn something from my research. I hope they can learn the importance of global warming and the effects it has on everyone. At the end of this research paper, we should all have a better understanding of what exactly global warming is, what is causing the changes in the climate, and changes we can all make to prevent these causes. Logical and Emotional Appeals Climate change has logical and emotional appeals that might best engage the intended reader to become interested in reading further into the research paper that will be presented or perhaps spark an overall general interest in the subject. • 18. Outline And Outline Of A Thesis Essay 1.Thesis: I think your thesis is strong and obvious throughout your paper. So I don't think that will be something you need to change dramatically. Instead, I think the main thing you should focus on for Draft 2 is organizing your paper so it is all supporting information for your thesis. In both your background and analysis section, ask yourself whether the information is there to support your thesis or whether it a secondary point. If it is a secondary point, then I probably wouldn't include it. 2.Organization: I would encourage you to try and increase your use of both umbrella paragraphs and topic/thesis sentences. Generally, at the beginning of each section or subsection, you should have an umbrella/roadmap paragraph to explain what is to come. That way a reader really understanding where you are going and how things fit together. Same with topic/thesis sentences. From a structural point of view, your background may end up being a bit long. Youwant your background to be shorter than your analysis section. At your current fourteen pages, you may want to watch out for the background section overshadowing the analysis section. I think there is some room to cut, but you are going to have to figure out what it ends up being important to your thesis, and what is noise that is only related to your thesis. 3.Background: I think you are off to a good start with your background section. I would consider providing more organization or context for the section on the PLCAA. As Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. The Proposal Essay Anton Checkov's The Proposal, is a perfect example of the use of literary devices in an effort to create dramatic conflict. The well–meaning characters create massive tension with one another over a simple and avoidable misunderstanding. Checkov's plot and dialogue turn what should have been a joyous occasion into a full–fledged argument about the land rights of two neighboring families. Additionally, Checkov uses stage direction to bring out the anger and frustration of the three characters. Checkov's one–act play exemplifies the interaction of different literary devices when creating dramatic tension in a play. In the beginning of the play Lumov, Chubocov's neighbor, enters his neighbor's home to ask him for permission to marry his daughter. At first, Chubocov is afraid that his neighbor has come to borrow money when, in an aside he states, "He's come to borrow money! Shan't give him any!" The stage direction here may influence the audience to believe that Chubocov is inconvenienced by the presence of his neighbor, which will be important later on in the play. Subsequently, Lomov reveals his true intentions when he says, "The fact is, I've come to ask the hand of your daughter, Natalya Stepanovna, in marriage." Lumov is clearly elated by the idea and...show more content... During his would–be proposal, he casually referenced a plot of land, that the two families share, as his own, which immediately angered Natalya. There is a brilliant use of dramatic irony here as the audience is aware that Lomov was going to propose. Natalya doesn't know his true intentions, which builds up tension for the audience. The argument continues for some time until Lomov is queued by stage direction to grasp his heart from the stress. The audience is fearful for Lomov's life, but the tension is even more intense because the man arrived with honorable Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Writer's Statement Thesis Statement: Climate change is natural; however, advances of human society such as deforestation, industrialization, and the burning of fossil fuels, have increased the rate at which the climate is changing. My three major sources stood out when writing my research paper on climate change. My main source was Louis Bergeron's, "The World Can be Powered by Alternative Energy, Using Today's Technology, in 20–40 Years, Says Stanford Researcher Mark Z. Jacobson." In this article, Bergeron describes an energy researcher's plan to power the world with renewables within the next few decades. My second source was Marc Lallanilla's, "Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Causes and Sources." In this article, Lallanilla talked about the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 21. A Research Proposal On Big Data Research Proposal The research proposal can be developed from the topic of big data to match up the demands of enormous data flow in the dynamic world. Data visualization tools at significant cost can help up in analytics of big data and can form an innovative research proposal for analysis and extensive research. The real time data and the use of techniques of big data in this domain can form an excellent topic of research calling for formulating methodologies and strategies to tap the untapped potential of this field and to experiment more in the field of research. Since, real time processing acts as a game changer in big data the research developed would be to have an insight into real time analytics and streaming data to analyze the flow and to evaluate it using certain tools and techniques. This is one of the greatest challenge that is acting as a key barrier in widespread adoption and pervasive use of the tools fostering for development and progress in this field of study. The real time of the big data analytics would require some of the unique features and special computing powers and potentials (Gantz, 2012). Tools have to made specially advanced so as to incorporate process terms in real time (Chen, 2012). Every business oriented organization should be transformed into information centric (Kaisler, 2013) to focus upon the real time data analysis in terms of both input and output. However, there are some of the risks associated with adoption of big data for the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
