The Systems Engineer role provides technical sales support and acts as a subject matter expert on Juniper's networking and security products. Key responsibilities include developing expertise on Juniper's product lines, competing technologies, and leading design of secure networks. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of technical pre-sales support experience, expertise in LAN/WAN technologies and Juniper equipment, and strong communication and troubleshooting skills. Specific experience required includes 4+ years of experience with networking protocols, network design and configuration, and security technologies like firewalls, VPNs, and PKI.
7. Act as subject-matter expert in pre-sales design reviews and serve as authoritative consultant to customers and partners.
8. Participate with SE peers to lead the design and architecture of secure IP networks utilizing and leveraging all aspects of Juniper’s product line to create superior solutions in competitive environments.
9. Provide training on an ad hoc to channels and customers System Engineers as required.
23. Minimum of 4 years experience with using and understanding the outputs from network sniffers
24. In-depth knowledge of L2-switching including VLANs, VLAN tagging/802.1q, and IP Routing with the ability to demonstrate and articulate a packet walk through complex networks
25. Expert knowledge of Routing and Router Redundancy Protocols including BGPv4, OSPF, PIM, RIPv2, VRRP (or other vendor specific implementations such as HSRP)
26. Ability to configure routers and switches from the most common vendors such as Cisco, Extreme, Foundry, and Juniper
32. Basic Microsoft and Unix administrationExpert-level knowledge and experience with security ACL’s, rule sets, and policy configuration<br />Expert-level knowledge of MPLS and VPLS, would be very desirable<br />Experience with IPSec-based VPN products<br />Thorough understanding of PKI (digital certs)<br />Basic ability to administer a Cert Authority<br />Some IDP/IDS Knowledge including the ability understand and explain a particular security vulnerability or attack<br />Good understanding and some experience with various authentication systems: RADIUS, SecureID, etc. <br />Good understanding of directory systems especially LDAP-accessible directories<br />Security Clearance to at least SC level would be an advantage.<br />
