CALM: CALM is required of all senior high school students, as
its completion is mandatory to qualify for an Alberta High

HCS3010 enhances the knowledge, skills and abilities to help
students prepare for future careers. These three modules are
required to be registered in Work Experience.
Leadership: The purpose of Leadership is to explore basic
principles of leadership and teamwork. Students will develop
a plan for their personal growth as a member of a leadership
team and examine the various behaviors, skills and roles that

ALBERTA HIGH SCHOOL OF FINE ARTS DIPLOMA
The Alberta High School of Fine Arts signifies that a student has obtained a strong background in one of the three areas of
specialization: performing arts, visual arts or technical arts. This designation is important for those students intending to
pursue a fine arts related career. AHSFA students must declare a major in one area of specialization and earn 30 credits in
the specialization (with at least 10 credits at the grade 12 level). Alternatively, students may declare a major and a minor in
two areas of specializations and earn 35 credits (with at least 10 credits at the grade 12 level).

16. Credits for working??
Work Experience
Students who have a part time job can earn high school credits for the hours
that they work. These jobs can be either volunteer work or paid positions.
Every 25 hours will earn a student one high school credit, but the minimum is
3 credits (75 hours). Students can only earn 10 credits in a school year and
only 15 credits total can be counted towards your high school credit count.
Students can earn credits through summer hours too!. Students must
complete HCS3000, CTR1010, and HCS3010 to qualify.
Registered Apprenticeship Program
Students who are interested in a career in the trades can start an
apprenticeship while they are in high school. Based on hours worked and
experience with a licensed journey person, students can earn up to 45 credits
towards their high school diploma. This will also count as hours towards an
apprenticeship!
