The NavigaTor Financial Advice for the Adventures of Life
Traveling Toward Retirement
Summer vacations are upon us. Traveling is
a concept that usually comes up as we discuss
financial independence. I have learned to listen Kurtis Pearson, CFP®
closely to that idea. kurtis.pearson@lpl.com
Traveling could mean freedom. When we
work for thirty years, there is some appeal to hit-
ting the road with no return date in mind. Some
who retire learn quickly that it was the freedom
part of traveling that was on their minds. Steve Conard
Financial Consultant

Traveling could also be related to an element
of surprise and wonder. Checking out new places
is an adventure and creates a sense of awe and
perspective.
Traveling with young kids meant building Michele Bjorkgren

memories. Quality family time as they call it. At michele.bjorkgren@lpl.com
least it was family time and we are still making
time to break the routine together as a family.
What ever your expectations may be about
traveling and vacations, it’s good to know that re-
ality is often other than our expectations. Many Nancy Economos
times better, sometimes not.

As you journey out this summer, keep the re-
ality and expectations of your trip in mind. Along
the way keep asking, “Are we there yet?”

2. Get Inspired to Retire!
Thank you to Brian Terwilliger (Van Kampen
Funds) for his presentation of Mitch Anthony’s
“The New Retirementality” last month at Bravo
Italiano. A group of 50 clients and prospects gath-
ered to be “Inspired To Retire” at this interactive
workshop. The presentation challenged listeners
to ask themselves several questions: What will my
retirement look like? When will it happen? What
are my dreams and goals? And finally, how do I
get there? The face of retirement is changing…it’s
time to look at retirement as a beginning, not an
end! If you were not able to join us and would like
to learn more about The New Retirementality, give
us a call! We can send you the materials.
Clients and prospects enjoyed a
great meal, good conversation,
and a thought provoking retirement
presentation from Brian Terwilliger
of Van Kampen Funds.

A warm sunny evening was great weather to attend an
Iowa Cubs game. We enjoyed great food and wonderful
conversations with fifty clients and guests. The evening
ended well with a Cubs victory. Thank you to all who
attended and made the evening spectacular!
