Website Update Proposal, Version 1.1
1. Proposed Updates for The Coffee Table Place Website
Outline: The following pages outline the changes I would like to make to the
product pages on the website. Unfortunately, the website as is has made no sales
despite significant traffic being driven to it. I believe these changes will help
generate sales.
After looking over various other sites, these are the changes that I propose. If you
have any suggestions or feel like something might work better, please feel free to
make those changes. I would like the final product to look comparable to the
screenshots on the following pages. If there is something that is not possible or
difficult to implement, please contact me at tomtillistrand@gmail.com or on
Skype (ID: tom.tillistrand).
Please continue onto the next page to see the screenshots of the proposed
updates. At the end of this document, I briefly outline all of the changes.
Thank you.

6. Proposed Changes:
For each number, I have marked the corresponding location on the product page
images on the following pages. Please refer to them for clarification
1) Overall Product Page
Remove the entire navigation sidebar from the product pages, but
keep the sidebar on all other pages
Make the product pages responsive to cell phones and tablets (a
significant portion of my traffic comes from mobile devices)
2) Navigation Helper
Include a nested links to show where the current page is located and
what pages it is linked to from, with the current page bolded. Use
this hex value for the color of this text: #2A9F97
3) Image Changes
Make the image much larger than before. On the old page, the image
is very small. Would like the image to be 30-50% of the total width of
the product page container
Make it possible for the user to move the cursor over the image and
see a zoomed in version of it in a small window on the right side. See
here for example: http://www.wayfair.com/Bassett-Mirror-Bentley-
RD-Cocktail-Inset-Leather-T1062-120-BMR1416.html
4) Image Zoom
Would like to include this graphic in the corner so that users know
they can zoom in on the image
5) Product Overview Box
Slightly rounded box to contain the product title, the SKU#, sale
price, list price (MSRP), savings %, Add to Cart button, Free shipping
text, a star review system, and “In Stock” text.
6) SKU#
Show the SKU# attached to the product below the title
7) Price Information
7. Show the Sale Price in big letters and orange (hex value #FDA41E)
If product includes a “Compare” price, add it as the “List Price" below
the sale price with the value crossed out.
If product includes a “Compare” price, include an arrow with text in it
that tells the customer how much they save. The percentage saved
should be automatically calculated based on the difference between
the sale price and the list price
If there is no “Compare” price, the List Price and savings arrow
should be excluded
8) Reviews
Would like to include how many reviews the product has received up
here, along with rating, and have it synced with the reviews down at
the bottom of the page. However, if the product has no reviews, I
want to exclude it from here
9) In Stock Notification
If the product is in stock, a green checkmark and text saying “In
Stock” appears above the Add to Cart button
10) Add to Cart button and shipping information
Add to Cart button should be much bigger that it previously was, and
include shading and gradient to make it stand out look clickable
Free Shipping text appears to the right of the Add to Cart button
Below the “Free Shipping” text, I want to include an estimated
amount of days the item will ship within depending on the
manufacturer. This will change depending on the manufacturer, so
I’d like to include this somewhere as a
element in the
“Description” box on the backend, with an id/class that you can call
upon to input it in the right location. Not sure if this is possible,
please advise.
To the right of the “Ships within 7-10 days” I want to include how it
will ship (freight or parcel), underlined, italic, and orange (#FDA41E),
with a link to a new page. I’d like to include this element in the
“Description” box on the product backend and label it with an
8. id/class so that it can be called upon to appear in the right location. If
it ships freight, I want a new smaller page to open up in a pop-up
window using this URL as the destination:
http://www.thecoffeetableplace.com/pages/freight-shipping. If it
ships parcel, I want the same thing with the following URL
destination: http://www.thecoffeetableplace.com/pages/parcel-
shipping
11) Tabs
Four stylized tabs: the description tab, specifications tab, shipping
tab, and returns and guarantee tab.
Each tab calls upon the appropriate headers and paragraphs. The
Description tab calls upon the Features header and list points, along
with the full Description down lower. The Specifications tab calls
upon the Specifications header and table. The Shipping tab calls upon
the shipping header and paragraph. The Returns and Guarantee tab
calls upon the return, guarantee, and warranty headers and
paragraphs.
I’m not sure if this is possible, but I want to be able to add all of this
text to the “Description” box on the product backend and label them
with ids/classes so that you can manipulate which appears when the
appropriate tab is selected
12) Features
I’ll input this header and list in the “Description” input on the product
settings. Should appear above the full description when the
“Description” tab is activated.
13) Full Description
I’ll input this header and paragraph in the “Description” input on the
product settings. Should appear below the features when the
“Description” tab is activated.
14) About the manufacturer
9. I’ll input a picture and paragraph about the Manufacturer in the
“Description” input on the product settings. Should appear below the
pictures and remain constant across all selected tabs
15) Specs
I’ll input the specs header and table on the backend in the
“Description” input of the product settings. Should only appear when
the “Specifications” tab is activated
16) Shipping information
I’ll input the shipping header and list on the backend in the
“Description” input of the product settings. Should only appear when
the “Shipping” tab is activated
17, 18, and 19
I’ll include the headers and paragraphs for the low price guarantee,
returns, and warranty sections in the backend in the “Description”
input of the product settings. Should only appear when the “Returns
& Guarantee” tab is activated.
