I designed this digital artefact as a workshop tool to stimulate multi-stakeholder discussions on the meaning and purpose of Financing for Development in light of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
I wanted to create a single, striking image that illustrated the interconnectedness of the 17 SDGs (in their own colours), financing instruments (in light blue) and sources of finance (in dark blue), while also conveying the concept of ‘leverage’ (gearing).
The machine works (I think!), but it is not the only way to assemble the gears. Workshop participants would be encouraged to re-assemble the machine to reflect different funding strategies and produce different development outcomes according to national, regional or global priorities.
Paris 5th of December: officials from around the world agreed on a draft climate change deal. Providing additional long term funding created a lively debate that sends a clear signal: reaching SDGs by 2030 will depend on world nations and societies ability to engage in strong global partnerships.
Innovative funding blending public sector funding and private sector financing allows numerous flexible financial support solutions tailored to the purpose (i.e. the 17 SDGs); the social return and financial return objectives as well as to the beneficiaries needs and requirements.
But this doesn’t go without challenges which this presentation tries to address!
Brain Food! Volume 2: Winners of the year 2016 [Awwwards].Filipp Paster
The latest instalment of our Brain Food! Case Studies for Digital Creatives is served. Featuring sumptuous case studies from the winners of the best web sites of 2016, Volume 2 reveals their delicious recipes for:
Interactive illustrations made with WebGL shaders, artwork making Web Audio APIs, highly converting eCommerce lookbooks, glitchy WebGL bubbles, UI and Three.js scenes rendered as Pixi.js texture in the canvas, and globally connected multi-device experiences.
Motorcycles and the Art of Product DevelopmentShimon Shmueli
There is no aspect of product design and development that is not reflected in motorcycles. It is hard to think about a more intimate experience between a user and a product than the experience of riding a motorcycle, and Shimon can speak about it empathically and passionately both as a motorcyclist and as a product development expert. The lessons that can be learned, the analogies and metaphors, are extremely rich and insightful, even to those who never got close to a machine on two (or three) wheels.
The presentation is targeted to executives and professionals in the areas of product design, development, and marketing, and can be customized to specific areas of interest. Typically the presentation takes 60 minutes, but it can be reduced to 45 minutes, or extended to 120 minutes or more (workshop format).
This presentation is based on the very successful Design for Experience presentation given at various forums and that received excellent reviews.

The growing necessity for the implementation of new financial schemes within the framework of ESI Funds is becoming more and more evident. At the same time, a more democratic, transparent and efficient allocation of such European resources continues to be a priority for the European Commission, as well as for regional authorities and citizens.
In this perspective, the European Crowdfunding Network would like to highlight some of the potential benefits that civic crowdfunding could provide, if coupled with ESI Funds and other resources. You can find our arguments in the attached white paper “The European Dimension of Civic Crowdfunding. The potential of crowdfunding for boosting economic and social effectiveness of European Structural and Investment Funds”.
The paper will serve as a basis for the creation of a Working Group of interested parties (both from the crowdfunding industry and from regional and local authorities) that will jointly analyse how of Crowdfunding can be integrated into ESI Funds as a match-funding mechanism. We firmly believe that, in order to have a stronger impact on European and national policy-makers, it is of paramount importance to gather a strong network of organisations that agree on the statements that we want to put forward.

This book documents an ongoing dialogue between developers and designers involved in the wider ecosystem of Libre Graphics. Its lengthy title, / think that conversations are the best, biggest thing that Free Software has to offer its user, is taken from an interview with Dcbian developer Ashccsh Laroia, Just ask and that will be that, included in this publication. His remark points at the difference that Free Software can make when users arc invited to consider, interrogate and discuss not only the technical details of software, but its concepts and histories as well.

Partnership for the SDGs: Financing For Development - workshop tool
1. I designed this digital artefact as a workshop tool to stimulate multi-stakeholder discussions on the meaning and
purpose of Financing for Development in light of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
I wanted to create a single, striking image that illustrated the interconnectedness of the 17 SDGs (in their own
colours), financing instruments (in light blue) and sources of finance (in dark blue), while also conveying the concept
of ‘leverage’ (gearing).
The machine works (I think!), but it is not the only way to assemble the gears. Workshop participants would be
encouraged to re-assemble the machine to reflect different funding strategies and produce different development
outcomes according to national, regional or global priorities.
