Thanksgiving Dinner Held for Ohio University International Students and
Faculty Members
ATHENS, OHIO (November 28, 2015) - Ohio University President, Roderick J.
McDavis has reassured international students of the institution’s commitment to make the
Athens campus a home away from home. He made this statement at an annual
Thanksgiving dinner held Thursday at Baker center by the International Student and
Faculty Services (ISFS) and International Christian Fellowship (ICF) for international
students and faculty members on campus. About seventy students and faculty members
on the Athens campus attended the event.
An international guest artiste, Kojo Antwi and his band graced this year's delicious
Thanksgiving dinner that included; jollof rice from Ghana, lomi from China, agushie and
eba from Nigeria as well as many others. Adom Nyarko, a first year graduate student
studying English said, “Antwi swept the crowd off their feet with his performance and
the crowd cheered and danced along.”
As part of the Home Away From Home campaign initiated by the institution this year,
McDavis disclosed that more plans are underway to make life more comfortable for the
international students on campus. He said, “Believe it or not, my outfit understands the
challenges that international students encounter on their quest to excel in this academic
environment.”
The Director of ISFS, Helena White was grateful to students and faculty for coming out
in their number to be part of the event. She said, “My office pledged its continuous
commitment and support for international students and faculty members at all times.”
This is an annual event held by ISFS that seeks to foster closer relationship between the
institution and the international community on Athens campus.
