1. Face Forward Gives Domestic Violence Survivors A Chance To Speak And Air Their Stories Of Hope
Many are women whose untold stories of violence go unnoticed and they end up suffering in silence.
Luckily, Saundra was among the few who were helped by a local facial reconstructive plastic surgery
group known as Face forward.
Saundra was beaten by her huge marine ex-husband and left for dead on the sidewalk on her 28th
birthday. Cruel as this may have seemed, she survived he beating but what followed next was what
almost took her to the grave. A serious infection on the right side of her face was the near cause of her
death .she had no skin on her right side and often wished for death.
With the help of Dr. Adessi and his wife the founders of Face forward group, Saundra underwent a
couple of reconstructive surgeries to help her improve her look. Even though her right eye cannot close
properly and her mouth only opens partially, Saundra is more than grateful for the assistance obtained
from the group.
2. She has become a voice to be heard and is among the women championing campaigns against
domesticviolence. She inspires women suffering in silence to come out and be helped like she did. The
scars of domestic violence may be difficult to erase especially with constant reminders of scars but with
the right kind of motivation, victims can start a new life. This is the hope that the non-profit organization
offers.
Saundra was only able to make it because of the continued support she received from friends and
various groups. Acceptance of one self and believing in the continuity of life is a major factor that
propelled her recovery. Even though her face is yet to recover from the numerous surgeries, Saundra is
at peace and appreciates everything Face forward has done for her.
Face-forward organization has gained reputed image by providing remarkable services to the victimized
women and kids.
