2. Introduction
With a business leadership career spanning more than three
decades, Chaz Berman is the chief executive officer of Grower's
Secret, which was recently listed as one of the 15 most promising
AgTech startups. In addition to his professional pursuits, Chaz Berman
supports a variety of civic and nonprofit organizations, including The
Cleveland Orchestra.
This past October, The Cleveland Orchestra appointed one of its
Youth Orchestra alumni, Jessica Sindell, as its assistant principal
flutist. She is the fifth Youth Orchestra alumnus to join The Cleveland
Orchestra and is taking over the position filled for the past 13
seasons by Marisela Sager. Prior to her appointment as assistant
principal flutist, Sindell performed with the Rochester Philharmonic
Orchestra, where she was a solo piccolo player.

She also has prior experience as a principal flutist with the
Oregon Symphony Orchestra.
Additionally, Sindell, who is a Cleveland native, served as
principal flute with the Colorado Music Festival and San Diego's
Mainly Mozart Festival. She is an alumnus of Western Reserve
Academy and holds a bachelor's degree in music with an
emphasis in flute performance from the Eastman School of
Music. She was a member of the flute section with the Youth
Orchestra from 2005 to 2007, during which time she learned
under Jayce Ogren and James Gaffigan.
