2. ABSTRACT
It cannot be over emphasised that cancer and its destructive
effects are very much in Nigeria. The scourge and its ravaging
effects have long been a recurring decimal and several Nigerian
families have experienced the agony of losing relations to the
disease.
Sadly, in Nigeria, cancer is seen as a death sentence not only
because of the nature of the disease but due to a number of
reasons such as lack of awareness on the larger proportion of
the populace.
3. The project is aimed at reducing the level of ignorance of
CANCER in communities and villages in Nigeria and when people
are informed about CANCER, the death rate from cancer will
surely reduce.
4. PROJECT OBJEVTIVES
• To create awareness of the disease
• To help people recognize the early signs and symptoms of
cancer, thus enabling them to seek treatment at an early
stage. The program encourages the participants to seek
prompt medical attention for symptoms which may include
lumps, sores, bleeding, hoarseness, weight loss and persistent
indigestion/cough/pain, etc.
• To inform people about the importance of cancer check-ups at
an early stage and to motivate them to avail of cancer check-
up services at a very nominal cost through the Cancer
Detection Centre and Mobile Cancer Detection Centre
5. Target audience
For this project, we are am targeting women and youths. I chose
these two target audience because we believe if you train a
woman and enlighten her about CANCER , you have succeeded
in saving a generation and also youths are the future of any
society, so it is necessary that youths are aware on how to
handle cancer related issues. The training will cover Both gender
related cancers, so we are promoting the project to both
gender. We are am planning to reach 2000 youths with this
project.
6. MARGINALIZED YOUTHS
The project is naturally designed to provide necessary
information for youths and women in the villages and
communities where they have little or no access to information.
The project is focused on improving the life situation of the
marginalized youth in Nigeria by providing them with the
necessary information on the risk factor, signs and symptoms of
cancer, also give primary health services to the youths.
7. PROJECT ACTIVITIES
During the project implementation, we will introduce various
activities, depending on our target audience. We will have
awareness training with medical experts, awareness rally around
the communities, mobile clinical examination, talk shows with
Cancer survivors and Media Programme on Cancer
8. SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGIES
• We are looking at two sustainability strategies; one for
Universities and high school and the second for Illiterates
(market women, farmers and unskilled workers).
• For Tertiary institutions and high schools, after the project
delivery, The project’s team will select passionate youths to be
PINK Ambassadors. Their task is to keep promoting Cancer
awareness programmes in their institutions by organizing
various cancer activities.
9. • For Illiterates or unskilled workers, Community input through
focus groups and surveys, · Dissemination of information
through community presentations and publications
