2. Invisibility
o Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam, a big city. People from
around the country floods in this place to find jobs, to
get money and to improve their lives. It is a haven.
o No. It is not. The problem is invisible at first glance.
Sure. There are jobs, a lot of them. But none of which
are what people really want to do.
o Everyone wants to own a business, work for a big
company, make lots of money. It doesn’t work for
everyone, and also not for most people and not for
most university graduates.
3. The Reason WHY
" Corruption in HR departments: people have to buy their
ways into jobs, to get a permanent contracts, to get
promotions. People who relates to HR employees and high
ranking employees can easily get jobs.
" Corruption in government: bribery is a common practices
in passing legislations and dealing with criminals.
" With jobs like teachers and doctors, university students
suffers the most because most educational institutions and
hospitals belongs to the government and big business
4. What Wrong?
" People don’t get what they deserve even if they work hard
and ready. Young people graduates from universities have to
change career path and start at the beginning.
" The city is stuck in this ancient time though not with kings,
princes and fairy tales. It is a nightmare of backward
development.
" Vietnam is a coming-of-age economy now stuck with the
corruption and foul play. Foreign countries have already
used this weakness to bring factories with non-effective
chemical waste solutions into Vietnam, resulting in many
health problems and with the extreme case of a village full of
cancer patient.
5. Social Receipt & Reality
" It is widely believed that it is how it works. You will
never make it unless you are smart both intellectually
and socially, or unless you have the look, or unless you
are rich, or unless you relates to someone rich.
" University degree becomes something of a necessary to
even get a job though the quality of degree is nowhere
near international standard. If university students get
employment they will still need on the job training.
University education and high school education are far
from what the industries needs.
6. Any Chance?
" Vietnam is a socialist/communist country and with only
one party. Direct attack to government way is prohibited
both in the country and outside. This is an apparent
problem similar to that of China.
" Despite that, Vietnamese society is changing. Many of the
corruption are becoming more well known; the court and
the judges are of fairer force though not always.
" Restriction invites creativity. Hanoi has already crowded
with small to medium businesses, separate identities from
the corrupted government and big businesses.
7. The Answer Is Another Web
" A connection point for small business who normally don’t
get graduates’ attention and recent graduates and students at
university.
" A place to share success and experience in managing small
businesses and to get to the market. Preferably, this place is
within the university. Students can get experience and
knowledge through this space while small businesses can get
their share of talents.
" This method could help redistribute the job market and
help graduates who struggle to find job that they studied for.
8. The Money
" Small businesses in Hanoi of course have limited
resources, smaller budget, lower pay for employees. This
is the main reason that it is unattractive to young people.
" Vietnamese is a poor agriculture predominant country,
thus many have experienced poverty and have obsession
with money and making it.
" Despite this, this web of connectivity may help remind
the graduates for their reasons of choosing the career
choice they make. Instead of running around with coffee
and coats, they can use their skills in more suitable areas
promoting better development for the society as a whole.
9. 2015
" If this comes into practice, as soon as of this year, we
will see apparent development in the job market in as
early as 2015.
" Graduates who are proactive and ready can get a
chance to put what they spent money learning into
practice.
" Small businesses have better choices in employment
resulting in more profits thus can employ more people.
10. Hope
" “Smile, breathe and go slowly” – Thich Nhat Thanh
" My generation will be the first to live poorer than my
parents’ generation. But if you distribute the total
wealth more fairly not only to certain privileged groups,
the world will still be better on the whole. None will
have to play the villain nor anyone will need to play the
victim. Peace shall reign.
" This generation will in the best of hope bring more
meaning to the world than money.
