1. How to Install and Use a Mimio

2. Introduction
This tutorial is designed to train educators
in how to setup and use a Mimio Board.
The demand for incorporating technology
into the classroom is huge right now,
especially with the development of the
new Common Core Standards. It is
important that educators know what types
of technology devices are out there and
how to use them in the classroom. The
Mimio Board is just one type of teaching
device.
3. What You Will Do
• Watch the presentation.
• Take a short quiz.
Navigation
Use the navigation tools at the bottom
left hand corner of the screen to replay
information, fast-forward or pause
through out the tutorial.
4. • It takes any dry
erase board and
makes it an
interactive and
digital board.
• The Mimio Board is a
small device that hooks
to a white board either
magnetically or with the
use of suction cups. It
can easily be removed
when it is not in use
and can be moved to
different classrooms.
5. • Mimio bar
• Stylus
• Classroom
software
• And a USB flash
drive for wireless
use or a USB
cable.

6. First, you need install the
software on your
computer.
To do this, you simple
insert the CD and follow
the prompts for
installation.

7. Attach the Mimio bar to the
dry erase board.
Step 2
This can be done by using
suction cups, magnetic
strips, or clips depending on
how your Mimio bar came.
8. Insert the USB drive into
your computer or USB
cable if you are not using a
wireless system.

9. Calibrate the system. Make
sure you computer is opened
up to the calibration screen.
Then push the calibration
button on the Mimio bar.
Step 4
Follow the instructions that
appear on the board. There will
be 9 X’s that appear. Use the
stylus to press in the middle of
each one.
10. Interactive mode means
that your computer is
turned on and you are
controlling the computer
using the stylus pen.
Capture mode means
you are taking hand
written notes and using
the Mimio bar to record
the information you write.

13. • Educators can use the Mimio
Board to create interactive
lessons, where the students can
get a hands on approach to
learning.
• Anything you can do on a
computer you can do using the
Mimio Board.
• The stylus works as a mouse to
navigate through lessons and
material.
• It is easy to import images from
your desktop or an internet
source.
