1. JOHN 5:1-15
The Healing at the Pool
1
Some time later, Jesus went up to
Jerusalem for a feast of the Jews. 2
Now
there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate
a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda
and which is surrounded by five covered
colonnades. 3
Here a great number of
disabled people used to lie--the blind, the
lame, the paralyzed.
2. 5
One who was there had been an
invalid for thirty-eight years. 6
When
Jesus saw him lying there and learned
that he had been in this condition for a
long time, he asked him, "Do you want
to get well?" 7
"Sir," the invalid replied,
"I have no one to help me into the pool
when the water is stirred. While I am
trying to get in, someone else goes
down ahead of me."
3. 8
Then Jesus said to him, "Get up!
Pick up your mat and walk." 9
At
once the man was cured; he
picked up his mat and walked. The
day on which this took place was a
Sabbath, 10
and so the Jews said to
the man who had been healed, "It
is the Sabbath; the law forbids you
to carry your mat."
4. 11
But he replied, "The man who
made me well said to me, `Pick up
your mat and walk.'" 12
So they
asked him, "Who is this fellow who
told you to pick it up and walk?"
13
The man who was healed had no
idea who it was, for Jesus had
slipped away into the crowd that
was there.
5. 14
Later Jesus found him at the
temple and said to him, "See,
you are well again. Stop sinning
or something worse may
happen to you." 15
The man went
away and told the Jews that it
was Jesus who had made him
well.
6. JUAN 5:1-15
Bethzata. a 3-4 Nasa paligid nito ang
maraming maysakit, mga bulag, mga pilay,
at mga paralitiko.
7. 5 May isang lalaki doon na tatlumpu't
walong taon nang may sakit. 6 Nakita
siya ni Jesus at alam niyang matagal
nang may sakit ang lalaki kaya't
tinanong niya ito, Gusto mo bang
gumaling?
aking higaan at lumakad ako.
kanya. 16 Dahil dito, si Jesus ay sinimulang
usigin ng mga pinuno ng mga Judio,
sapagkat nagpagaling siya sa Araw ng
Pamamahinga.
15. B. WHY SOME CHRISTIANS
ARE SPIRITUALLY DISABLED?
1. DISOBEDIENCE –
LACK OF FAITH / UNBELIEF
JEREMIAH 43:7
So they entered Egypt in
disobedience to the LORD and
went as far as Tahpanhes.
16. HEBREWS 3:15
As has just been said:
"Today, if you hear his
voice, do not harden your
hearts as you did in the
rebellion."
17. 2. DISCONTENTMENT–
WORLDLY DESIRES (MATERIALISM)
1TIMOTHY 6:6-8
6But godliness with contentment is
great gain. 7For we brought nothing into
the world, and we can take nothing out
of it. 8But if we have food and clothing,
we will be content with that.
19. EXODUS 6:9
Moses reported this to the Israelites,
but they did not listen to him because of
their discouragement and harsh labor.
NUMBERS 32:7
Why do you discourage the Israelites
from crossing over into the land the
LORD has given them?
20. C. HOW TO OVERCOME
SPIRITUAL DISABILITY?
1. GET UP! – to come
into a position
PRAYER – To kneel down is
our best position
JEREMIAH 33:3
Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great
and unsearchable things you do not know.'
21. 2. PICK UP YOUR
MAT! – put things in order
– fix everything
HEBREWS 12:2
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and
perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set
before him endured the cross, scorning its
shame, and sat down at the right hand of the
throne of God.
22. 3. WALK!
2 Corinthians 5:7
– we live by faith not by sight
– exercise daily, walk with
God
( 1John 5:3)
- walk the talk (James 1:22)
23. CONCLUSION
– “STOP SINNING, START
FIXING” – JOHN 5:14
– “STOP SINNING, START TO
OVERCOME DISOBEDIENCE,
DISCONTENTMENT,
DISCOURAGEMENTS.”
- GET UP! PICK UP YOUR
MAT AND WALK (JOHN 5:8)
