Essay On Roommates
Recently I have been found responsible of knowingly being present in room with illegal drugs and asked to write a reflection on the matter. As
someone who use to live with problematic roommates in the past I have thought to have understood a majority of the rules and regulations enforced
by Providence College regarding illegal drugs and drug related actions, but after this particular experience I learned more about resolving differences
between roommates regarding community violations and suspicious items. One of the first things I would do to resolve these is to talk to my
roommates directly about the problem as soon as it happens to prevent anyone of us from getting in trouble. As soon as I notice any illegal contraband
or actions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If possible, everyone in the room should discuss what should and shouldn't be done over email or text in the coming weeks before move–in so that as
soon as everyone is on campus they know what to expect from one another and make the living space safer for everyone. One of the biggest things
to remember when approaching your roommates to set rules however is to be respectful of their actions and belongings, even if they may or may
not be legal in a Providence College Residential Hall. While drugs like Marijuana are considered banned items to the college, these kinds of drugs
might be legal in the state the school is located in and studies continue to show the health benefits it may have for people, especially when it comes
to relieving stress and physical pain. Regardless of it's legality drugs are still a touchy subject, so understanding why you're roommates does
something illegal is crucial to setting rules that both makes everyone in the room safe and keep them out of trouble. At the same time, I would want
just as much respect as I give to my roommates as I give to them and hope that they take the roommate contract just as seriously as I would. One thing
that made my two former roommates difficult to live with last year was because they didn't take their roommate contracts seriously and thus there were
no clear rules when it came to having people over and doing illegal things in our room. It's important to call out your roommates when they

Karkat Roommate
A roommate is what Karkat needed, in fact it was something he has been in need of for a quite a while now. For three months he had been
struggling to pay his rent, and during those three months he had refused to even allow himself to event think of posting a picture up. He had too
much pride for that and felt that he just needed a little more time before he was finally settled. Though as the fourth month started to come around he
realized that he was in deeper then he had imagined. He was starting to fall behind on payments and it had already took a rather tremendous dent into
his savings. Soon he would be living from paycheck to paycheck with no money to even spend on himself, let alone any extra food that he would
want. So with a heavy

Descriptive Essay Roommate
I went back into my dorm room. I sat my things down on the kitchen table and turned to the fridge, opening to get a drink of water as I was literally
dying of thirst.
"Are you my roommate?" I jumped and quickly turned around. My roommate's appearance that I just met now, has a light brown bob cut, rounded
glasses with grey eyes, wearing a casual navy blue dress with a red leather belt. She stood near the table with her boxes and bags and I gave her a calm
look, with a gentle smile.
"Oh yes, my name's Elaine. Nice to meet you, and you are?"
"I'm Kira. Sorry I came here a bit late, traffic." She gave a little laugh and I accepted it. We began to sit down on the kitchen table and got to know
each other as we kept talking, it seemed to be that she is also new, in my classes, and we could somehow relate with each other on our likes, dislikes,
choices, and other little things. Kira is one of those people who is an introvert at first, but when you get to talk to her more, she seems to be more
easygoing and very kind and friendly.
"Hmm, what to do, what to do." I say as I roam around in my small room after saying our goodnights to each other after our time talking. I decided to
lay on the queen sized bed, with my choice of own sheets that are pink polka dots with a grey background. My walls are a beige colour as everything
else were to be only filled with other colours, mixed with plain such as brown and black.
"Elaine, Elaine, Elaine, where are you.." I woke up frightenedly,

Classification Essay Roommates
People have continually spread themselves out since the dawn of time. A diverse crowd of all traits and personalities have been necessary in
businesses, organizations, and even local and interpersonal connections. When it comes to roommates, there are many different types of people that
will walk through the door. The basic types of roommates include the introverts, the extroverts, and the obscures. Identifying their traits and habits can
aid the relationship for the better. And so on, knowing your roommate is important for suppressing household turmoil. Pros and cons come with all
forms of roommates. The introvert roommate has much to offer. Though their voices may be soft and they rarely seek attention, they are good listeners.
These are the roommates that quietly watch your movements and analyze the situations. Many are shy or hesitant to share opinion, so this may make it

This means that they are outgoing and thrive in social situations. This may include athletes, actors, entertainers, and those in the business field. In the
high school age, extroverts include the party planners, theater kids, band kids, and the athletes. All of these positions involve great quantities of
conversation. This is great during excursions, thus being able to have conversation with them at any moment to subside the awkward pauses. They are
also good talkers or storytellers, and search for positive body language to increase the dramatization in their narratives. However, this constant attention
can create agitation between the roommates. Many find them to be too talkative, braggadocios, or even over confident due to their excellent social
skills. Many find that it is hard for them to listen, only hearing what they say instead. Frequent parties, events, and meetings could wear anyone down.
Though extroverts are more likely to be the fun types of roommates, they also carry a pouch of annoyance with

Personal Narrative: Roommate
Significant other: Roommate. I decided to do it with my roommate because, even though I have a boyfriend and that would've worked out perfectly
with the marriage agreement, he lives in another country. Therefore, I think that doing it with my roommate is a good idea because I share a lot with
her since we live together.
What she said when I told her about the assignment: She replied, "Is this for a grade?" It was funny because she couldn't believe that this was a real
assignment. Her major is biomedical sciences so she expects homework to be related to numbers or to write papers. I had to explain her the Marriage
Agreement by Alix and Martin. Also, some terms we've used in the class before. Finally, she agreed on helping me out.
Tasks or chores that caused the most disagreement: The task that caused the most disagreement was the one on which we have to report to
maintenance if there's any problem in the apartment (we added this one). I claimed that she should do this all the time because my English is not
perfect and I struggle a lot; I can't express my ideas very well. She said that that's not fair because calling maintenance requires a lot of time due to the
bureaucratic procedures the owners of the apartment complex have established (calling, paper filling, staying at the apartment while they fix the
problem, etc.). We finally decided that the person who discovers the problem will call first.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

His roommate has dirty shoes on top of the clothes or even on top of the desk. On the TV spot, he has a mountain of dirty clothes and shoes that
drew can ignore because when he opens the door people can see all the mess. At the left of the hand of the bed, Drew's roommate has a trash can

How to Find the Perfect Roommate
Facing the fact that you have to find the "perfect" roommate you have to make a decision about what the ideal roommate would be for you. Just
because you are best friends with someone or your friend suggested that you live with them doesn't necessarily mean that they will be the ideal
roommate for you. If you have determined what you are looking for in a roommate you can begin your search.
You would first have to go through all of your friends to see if they were looking for a place to stay. The first step should always be asking your friends
or people you know if they are looking for a place or if they know someone who is. If you already recognize the person, or know someone who will

What Class I And My Roommate?
In Today's Society, we have many different classes in the United States. As well as, within those classes there are different sections. These social
classes consist of: Upper, Middle and Lower Classes. There are different types of Middle class such as, lower and upper middle class. As well as, upper
lower and lower classes that would be considered to be living in extreme poverty. For example of extreme poverty would be for those living on less
than a dollar a day. According to the Carl ThinkSociology textbook, "There are 37million people that live in poverty. Members of the lower class often
live paycheck to paycheck if they even have a job" (Carl Sociology, pg. 126). In this short essay, I will explain what possible class I and my roommate
would be in and a do these classes really determine your state of being poor or not?
According to our Society's social class system, my roommate and I since we are living together would both be considered in the functioning lower class
system. Based upon our income, we are not quite in the middle class sector but we are living comfortably in the lower class. We often live paycheck to
paycheck but after all the bills are paid we also have some money left over to save, go out with friends or buy other necessary items that we might
need or want. We also have money left over to buy food. We do not quite have the effect of poverty if I so speak. We live in a decent two bedroom
apartment; we have a dog and have everything that need and good

How Can Survive Your Freshman Roommate? Essay
EA5 How To Survive Your Freshman Roommate The prospect of living with someone who isn't a family member can create more stress than
anything else for an incoming freshman. You've probably heard about the absolute slob who leaves clothes, shoes and food wherever they land, or the
psychotic roommate who screams and cries about the tiniest of dramas before you even move in. You may even fear being forced to share a room
with an anti–social, anti–fun hermit who never leaves the room. Such extremes are not very likely but no one's perfect. You and your roommate will
probably not see eye to eye about something at some point during the year. When that happens, you can benefit from the experience of others. Check
out these stories and advice from three students who attend three different Big Ten schools and who know personally what it takes to get through
freshman dorm life. The Boyfriend When Kala moved into her Indiana University dorm room, she was confident her and her roommate Britni would

Devil himself!" When Kala said she didn't want the boyfriend in the room all hours of the day and night, Britni was clearly upset at first. "A lot of

Analysis Of The Four Roommates In New Girl
Even without knowing it, all of us are in a group. We all have our own group of friends, one's family is considered a group, and as a school one is
considered to be a group. These are just a few examples of groups that many of us are a part of in everyday situations. When looking for a group to
analysis, I chose to the characters in the TV show New Girl. I chose this group of people, because as a college student we may choose to in a house
or apartment with many friends. Many of the processes that goes into a successful group, are needed when living with multiple people. Even
though they might not always agree, the roommates in New Girl are successful in many areas of what makes a successful group. The show New
Girl takes a modern look into friendship and romance of four roommates. The four roommates are: Nick, Winston, Schmidt and Jess. Jess is the
only girl in the group, and is introduced to her new roommates when she breaks up with her boyfriend, which leaves her without a home. When she
is looking for a new place to live, she comes across these three guys' ad and she initially believes its three girls looking for a roommate. After
meeting with Nick, Winston and Schmidt, they agree to have Jess move in with them. I would say that these roommates can be considered an
interdisciplinary group because each member has a role and responsibilities in which they are trying to achieve a task. This group of roommates is

Secrets To My Roommate

change who she is no matter what they have to say. Being the youngest out of six, she has learn the responsibility of caring for her siblings and her

others find roommates who were not that perfect fit. It's unlikely that you'll end up with a roommate that is dangerous, but if you aren't careful
about your screening process, you can find one who is unsuitable. A roommate is a great way to live in an area that you might not be able to afford

The obvious first place you can look for a roommate is Craigslist, but there are other websites out there specifically used to find a person to room with

Definition of Roommates As we know, "roommate" is a word, which is combined by "room" and "mate". Therefore, according to "Dictionary.com",
the meaning of "roommate" is "a person who is assigned to share or shares a room or apartment with another or others". Personally, I believe that my
roommates are not only the people who share the house or live with me, but also they are my closed friends who know me well. In my mind, the
definition of roommates is people who I regard as both friends and family members at the same time. Since I studied abroad from China, I have started
my new life–style, which was my first time to live with roommates. In the beginning, I hoped that I could have roommates who were kind and

After meals, all of us washed the dishes and clear the table. Everyone in this "family" had the responsibility to do something. However, everyone gave
without expectation of a reward. In conclusion, the definition of "roommates" in my mind has three different meanings. The first meaning was the
common meaning which is people who shared apartment with me. The second meaning was friendship, which was the true relationship in my point of

Never A Perfect Roommate?
Never a Perfect Roommate At a northern college many dorm students were selected and interviewed about their roommate. Most students described
their living situations as reasonable, excluding the roommate of course. When asked the question, "If you could pick your roommate, would you,"
many surprisingly answered the question with a, "No!" Most explanations for the answers came about because they stated, "You never really get to
know someone until you're forced to live with them." Roommates vary and some are favored over others. From the OCD roommate to the filthiest
of them all or the nicer roommate to the most annoying one that can run a person insane. In fact, a person never really finds their perfect match in a
roommate. One type of roommate that comes off as exceedingly organized and prestigious, this person is a great multitasker in a sense. With this
roommate, they like everything to function in an orderly manner. We call this roommate the "OCD One." The OCD One greets their roommate with
a warm smile but keeps themselves in a remote box, a very neat and organized box, to say the least. The OCD roommate is very tidy and punctual
with everything they do. Sometimes the OCD one can come off as a parent, when it comes to the presence of their living area including that of their
roommate's side. The OCD One is a perfectionist in everything, from the way they keep their school supplies to the way they color code their socks in
an articulate manner. When one tiny thing is

Why Is Having A Roommate Essay
The real lesson is not always taught in school but by the adventures and experiences you embark on. One such experience ,school does not prepare
you for is having a roommate. Having a roommate can be the most amazing or the most hazardous experience ever. The idea of having a roommate is
to learn to adapt to life when you are thrown into the world with a random person. The mind set of every person differs and it is important to
understand and bend in such a way that no conflicts arise. You might even end up being good friends with your roommates once you have successfully
understood each other. Consider these most common types of roommates.

give rise to many awkward silences and conversations. This person can drive you insane if you are quite the social butterfly as he or she usually likes
to keep to him or herself and do their own things.
The polar opposites can be extremely difficult to live with. It is the roommate who does everything different and opposite of what you do from
cleanliness to the sleeping cycle. You might end up quarrelling with your roommate most of the time. It is better to move out than stay with this
roommate as it is very inconvenient when you and your roommate have nothing in common.
Spending time with your roommate is important but if this person wants to know your every move, you have got yourself a clingy roommate. A clingy
roommate can be irritating. You don'twant to hide from your own roommate. This roommate might be clingy to you for a reason. Try to make them

How to Choose a Good Roommate
Today, numerous people share rooms with their roommates everywhere. I used to live with roommates when I studied in university and worked in
big cities in China. This phenomenon is very common currently. Many students live with other classmates in one dormitory on campus; some
workers share the room with other people in big city because of the high rent fee; the others who living with someone else would feel safety and
take care of each other. So, for these people, it is very important to find a nice person to live together. I would choose a good roommate who has some
good characters such as integrity, keep everything clean and good at communication.

Essay on Choosing the Right Roommates
One of the most stressful parts of college life is not the tests, quizzes, practical, or classes, but the never ending pressure one faces when they have to
decide on their next semester's rooming situations. Questions such as "Who should I room with? [or] Where should we room," haunt each student
throughout the year. It is a difficult thing to cover, and occasionally feelings get hurt, but it is your right to pick with who youwant to live with. It is
also a decision you will have to live with for the rest of the year. Some of the ways we can avoid that stress and be more at peace with who we are
rooming with is starting early, being honest with yourself and your current roommate or friends, and taking into consideration the majors and ... Show

In the end, that could make the hurt and results even worse between you and your friend than it could have been. Also, the person will end up being
put with complete strangers that also don't have roommates. How would you feel if you were thrown in that situation? So, maybe it's not the best
way to treat a friend. It may be hard, but talking about the rooming situation early can do a lot to limit the ending damage that may occur if you
room with someone that is not compatible with your personality or if you wait until the last minute to take care of business. This damage may even
be losing a friend over something that could have been fixed. Another part to talking with your friends early is honesty. Lyndsee, an interviewee in the
"College housing decisions: choosing new roommates document, said that it is best to be honest about plans from the start, because you could end up
losing friends over housing choices (Miller, 2006). Honesty is must in any kind of relationship and can be difficult, but if you are taking the time to
talk to your friend/roommate early, you might as well be completely honest with them in the beginning. They will figure it out eventually. For example:
you already told another group of people that you would live with them in a four person apartment, but haven't told your other friends of your plans,

My Relationship With My Current Roommate
For the application project, I decided that I would like to discuss my relationship with my current roommate. This relationship is very important to
me because we are living together for the rest of the remaining academic year. Initally, I was supposed to live with one of my very close friends, but
she got a last minute overseas study abroad scholarship. For this reason, I had to find a last minute roommate. All my friends had already made living
arrangements, which forced me to find a random roommate through the University of Cincinnati housing system. Since she was a random roommate, I
knew it was going to be difficult for me as I knew nothing about her. Upon living with her, we had numerous issues with how we lived together but
were never spoken about. I then spent the first 2 months trying to get to know her better to avoid any future issues that we were having since we
started to live together.
Ever since we started living together we have been having a lot of problems. Our biggest issue is the fact that we do not communicate. From day
one, whenever we have a problem with something one another did, we did not tell each other. Instead, we kept it to ourselves or went to our friends
to complain. Then, we would be passive aggressive towards each other which would only make the problem worse. I believe that the biggest change
needed in our relationship was better communication. If we figured out a way to communicate to each other as well as enhance our understanding

Percival sat on the floor in front of the fireplace in the living room, tapping away at his laptop's keyboard as a fierce blast of Maine's bitter–cold winter
winds shook the windows.
"Give me just one sec to open up this spreadsheet, guys."
Even though it was finals season at the University of Maine, a stressful time of year, Percival was determined to finalize plans for the annual holiday
party. Today.
It was hard to believe he and his four best friends – also his roommates – would be graduating in a mere five months. They'd been lucky to get their
hands on this fantastic off–campus rental during their sophomore year. It was a five–bedroom renovated farmhouse, spacious, boasting a massive

would take place in just over a week, the night finals were over, right before everyone traveled home for the holidays.
As they wrapped up the meeting, Gwaine announced, "I think as part of the entertainment, we should have Percival bench press the Yule log. Come on,
Percival, don't you want to show off those pretty muscles?"
Percival saved his work, closed the laptop, then tackled Gawain on the couch. "Let me show you my muscles," Percival said, pretending to punch at
Gwaine's head, but stopping short.
"Violence!" Gwaine shouted, laughing. "Extreme holiday violence!"
Percival hopped up and helped Gwaine to his feet. When Percival considered the fact that these days of fun and comradery would end sooner than

What Is The Worst Roommate Essay
It's finally the time. We are leaving our parents' house, the warm and cozy nest in order to go and face wildlife or commonly called college. The
excitement is building up and we're about to combust as we reach the doors of the university. We're eager to finally be able to live alone with no
rules, no regulations, just ourselves and no one else to command us. We've all been through that, and we've all dreaded the exact same thing. Who's
the new roommate? How's he or she going to be like? Clean? Disdainful? It was probably the first question everyone asked, walking up the stairway
to hell, his or her new house for the next four months. The Worst Roommate Ever can derive into two distinct parts, two opposite poles. There is the

The most suggested solution would be talking about it. Good communication can often be the key to problem solving. Most of the time, fights are
generated by misunderstandings and the lack of consideration of the other. It's always beneficial to take the time to sort things out by talking about
each roommate's feelings without omitting the other's. The roommates can agree on a time specific to talking about the issue and try to sort it in
the most pacific way. It's important to be considerate and understanding towards each other. By the end of the day, it's not always about pride and
how each roommate wants to make his/her point of view more valuable. Of course, talking things out cannot always be the solution, as some people
just don't function that way, it all depends on each person's personality. If the roommate end up being a stubborn one, the best solution is to go see
the housing service, as it's their job to solve the issues between roommates or even part them. The wellbeing of the two people comes first so it's
never a wrong idea to seek for external help and the housing service is the best place to go

Description And Description Of My Roommate Essay
Part A: Descriptions
The subject I've chosen to write about is when my roommate (A) at the college residence wasn't pulling his weight in cleaning duties. He had
never lived without his parents before and must not have realized he had to clean up after himself. Time and time again, I would have to wash his
(A) dishes and pick up after him. At first, we got along super well and for a while I avoided confronting him because I figured a few dishes here
and there wasn't too bad. We'd often have parties at the house and he would never help us clean up the mess the following day. Finally about half
way through the semester, I confronted him and we came to a compromise that he would clean on certain days, and I would clean up the other days.
It went well for the first week and then on his cleaning days he'd say I'll clean up tomorrow just leave everything where it is. Sure enough, three days
later, nothing had been cleaned and the house was a disaster. I spoke to my two other roommates (B&C) about him and they agreed that they were
sick of doing his chores and living with him too. The root cause must have been personality differences. In which I mean that myself, and my two other
roommates (B&C) standard of cleanliness was not the same as roommate A's. Our style of living was just not the same as roommate A so we had a
talk with him and told him we would like for him to move out. Upon our request, he had moved out soon thereafter. A couple days later, he was

Classification and Division Essay " Roommates"

"Roommates"
Reza Hossaini
How different we are! We deal with different people. These people can be our neighbors, class fellows, our friends or they can be our roommates. If
I speak about my roommates, first I will categorize them into different groups. However roommates include people or students who come from
different places, provinces or even from different countries so in this case they are categorized into various divisions. Generally in my point of view,
roommates are classified into three diverse sorts in terms of their behavior, ethic or morality, merit and as bellow;

Roommates in this kind are reliable, sometimes joking, not too much speaking, and a little bit serious. They don't like to joke too much or if you joke
with them, they will get serious soon. They are irascible in joking so you always cannot be kidding with them.
As I said, interestingly, in our dormitory the only room which has different kinds of roommates is our room. It is such that other students call our
room as "room of diversity". It's the name that they ascribed to us because we have almost all categories of roommates from different provinces with
various nationalities. For instance, Sebqatulla one of my roommates is from Herat. Due to having some described characteristics of this class, he fits
in the second category. He is serious when we speak to him with a serious tone and he is witty and joking when we do so. In a single word he, adjusts
and fits himself in the any environment he locates.
Another kind of roommates is conservative roommates. They are so careful about their relations with other people and students. Especially they care
how to behave with their roommates. Roommates who include in this category are conservative and much cautious in terms of how to get relation and
how his or her other roommates should behave with them. In our room I may go to this category of roommates. I am not that good a joker and get
serious soon that is why my roommates don't joke much with me. Once my roommate

for your rest of your life. As Sophia got accepted into The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania as a boarding student. She found out

first day of the school passed very smoothly, but on the second day of school, there are already disagreements about the private space they each

The Effect of Penn State’s Roommate Selection Options on...
Introduction: In 2013, Penn State saw a 1.6% increase in student enrollment. This year, Penn State's University Park gained 46,184 new incoming
students. Our research looks into the incoming freshmen class and the options they are given in order to choose a roommate.
These options include random selection, in which the university will randomly assign people to live together; Facebook, where students can search on
their own for roommates, or students may choose friends from home to live with. We wanted to study the effect of each of these options and see how
each one affected the roommate's friendship. Does living with someone from home automatically mean that the friendship will continue to grow, or

After re–sending out our survey we gained 40 more responses. Our survey consisted of 30 different questions, which were created to gauge many
different factors in how freshmen chose their roommates. The questions that were asked on the survey included demographic questions, such as age
and gender. The class standing of the responder determined which questions they were going to answer on the survey. If the participants were freshmen
they answered a series of questions that allowed us to gather data on how they met their roommate, as well their current relationship with their
roommate.
If the responder answered that they were an upperclassmen (sophomore, junior, senior) then they answered questions that allowed us to determine their
current relationship with their freshman roommate. We also asked these participants how they met their roommate prior to freshmen year, and if they
don't live with this person than do they still communicate. If the participant answered that they do not speak to their freshman roommate at all, we used
an open–ended question in order to ask why.
The questions on this survey were made up of open ended, and multiple–choice questions. The open–ended questions were used in order to gain
responses on questions that could not be answered by multiple–choice, such as current feelings on their roommate.
The participants

The One Where Monica Gets A Roommate Essay
Friendship plays a vital part in growing up and becoming an adult. Friendships guide people and also shape them into the people they are. In this
late 90s comedy, a group of six friends try to navigate their lives while living in New York City. The show Friends shows the highs and the lows of
being an adult and trying to juggle love lives, work lives, and friendships. In "The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate", it starts the show off
with Monica, Ross, Chandler, and Phoebe all sitting down in a coffee house called Central Perk. Ross comes into the coffee house feeling

characters are like ordinary people who get rained on, like Rachel, and who get divorced, like Ross. The imperfections are crucial because it brings

rest of the group didn't come from families that are filthy rich, they always had to earn what they got through hard work and determination. The
morning after Rachel spends her first night at Monica's, she tries to make coffee in the morning, but fails. This shows just how alienated she was from
the world that the rest of the group understands. Even though she has no work experience, she attempts to get a job, proving how determined she is to

The Great Debate About College Roommates
The Great Debate about College Roommates In most cases, for people who once attended college they either consider it the best years of their life or
a horror show. They may feel this way because of the experiences they had, classes they took, or the people they met, like perhaps their roommate. In
the New York Times article, "ACollege Education Should Include Rooming with a Stranger", Anna Altman explains the effects of having a roommate
in college. Anna Altman claims college freshman already have a lot to adjust to in their first weeks, including the new living arrangements in the life
of the dorms and meeting a new person that now shares the same home as them. With the help of preference options when applying for dormitory
housing, the simple aspects of assigning two college attendees to one room has improved over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Altman adds that even though colleges try their best to make the match between roommates as smooth as possible, it does not always work
out that way for everyone during their first year away from home. Altman suggests, "...that approach is no longer sufficient". She quotes Natasha
Singer, also a reporter for the New York Times, saying "...the problem of getting stuck with an incompatible freshman
–year roommate can be expensive
for the college. Moving students around within dorms can be a headache, but there's even more at stake: the risk that students will be so unhappy that
they might transfer out of the college before sophomore year." The issues Altman presents through Natasha Singer's words for unhappy roommates in
college are both direct and indirect. Some of the horror stories told by alumni are about the struggle they went through to find the right roommate after
many failed attempts of changing dorms and testing uncharted waters with a new peer. Some of these unfortunate people consider the struggles too
great and quit college all together. In turn, colleges lose tuition money

Essay On Roommates

  • 1. Essay On Roommates Recently I have been found responsible of knowingly being present in room with illegal drugs and asked to write a reflection on the matter. As someone who use to live with problematic roommates in the past I have thought to have understood a majority of the rules and regulations enforced by Providence College regarding illegal drugs and drug related actions, but after this particular experience I learned more about resolving differences between roommates regarding community violations and suspicious items. One of the first things I would do to resolve these is to talk to my roommates directly about the problem as soon as it happens to prevent anyone of us from getting in trouble. As soon as I notice any illegal contraband or actions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If possible, everyone in the room should discuss what should and shouldn't be done over email or text in the coming weeks before move–in so that as soon as everyone is on campus they know what to expect from one another and make the living space safer for everyone. One of the biggest things to remember when approaching your roommates to set rules however is to be respectful of their actions and belongings, even if they may or may not be legal in a Providence College Residential Hall. While drugs like Marijuana are considered banned items to the college, these kinds of drugs might be legal in the state the school is located in and studies continue to show the health benefits it may have for people, especially when it comes to relieving stress and physical pain. Regardless of it's legality drugs are still a touchy subject, so understanding why you're roommates does something illegal is crucial to setting rules that both makes everyone in the room safe and keep them out of trouble. At the same time, I would want just as much respect as I give to my roommates as I give to them and hope that they take the roommate contract just as seriously as I would. One thing that made my two former roommates difficult to live with last year was because they didn't take their roommate contracts seriously and thus there were no clear rules when it came to having people over and doing illegal things in our room. It's important to call out your roommates when they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For three months he had been struggling to pay his rent, and during those three months he had refused to even allow himself to event think of posting a picture up. He had too much pride for that and felt that he just needed a little more time before he was finally settled. Though as the fourth month started to come around he realized that he was in deeper then he had imagined. He was starting to fall behind on payments and it had already took a rather tremendous dent into his savings. Soon he would be living from paycheck to paycheck with no money to even spend on himself, let alone any extra food that he would want. So with a heavy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Descriptive Essay Roommate I went back into my dorm room. I sat my things down on the kitchen table and turned to the fridge, opening to get a drink of water as I was literally dying of thirst. "Are you my roommate?" I jumped and quickly turned around. My roommate's appearance that I just met now, has a light brown bob cut, rounded glasses with grey eyes, wearing a casual navy blue dress with a red leather belt. She stood near the table with her boxes and bags and I gave her a calm look, with a gentle smile. "Oh yes, my name's Elaine. Nice to meet you, and you are?" "I'm Kira. Sorry I came here a bit late, traffic." She gave a little laugh and I accepted it. We began to sit down on the kitchen table and got to know each other as we kept talking, it seemed to be that she is also new, in my classes, and we could somehow relate with each other on our likes, dislikes, choices, and other little things. Kira is one of those people who is an introvert at first, but when you get to talk to her more, she seems to be more easygoing and very kind and friendly. "Hmm, what to do, what to do." I say as I roam around in my small room after saying our goodnights to each other after our time talking. I decided to lay on the queen sized bed, with my choice of own sheets that are pink polka dots with a grey background. My walls are a beige colour as everything else were to be only filled with other colours, mixed with plain such as brown and black. "Elaine, Elaine, Elaine, where are you.." I woke up frightenedly, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A diverse crowd of all traits and personalities have been necessary in businesses, organizations, and even local and interpersonal connections. When it comes to roommates, there are many different types of people that will walk through the door. The basic types of roommates include the introverts, the extroverts, and the obscures. Identifying their traits and habits can aid the relationship for the better. And so on, knowing your roommate is important for suppressing household turmoil. Pros and cons come with all forms of roommates. The introvert roommate has much to offer. Though their voices may be soft and they rarely seek attention, they are good listeners. These are the roommates that quietly watch your movements and analyze the situations. Many are shy or hesitant to share opinion, so this may make it difficult to fully agree on tasks... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means that they are outgoing and thrive in social situations. This may include athletes, actors, entertainers, and those in the business field. In the high school age, extroverts include the party planners, theater kids, band kids, and the athletes. All of these positions involve great quantities of conversation. This is great during excursions, thus being able to have conversation with them at any moment to subside the awkward pauses. They are also good talkers or storytellers, and search for positive body language to increase the dramatization in their narratives. However, this constant attention can create agitation between the roommates. Many find them to be too talkative, braggadocios, or even over confident due to their excellent social skills. Many find that it is hard for them to listen, only hearing what they say instead. Frequent parties, events, and meetings could wear anyone down. Though extroverts are more likely to be the fun types of roommates, they also carry a pouch of annoyance with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Personal Narrative: Roommate Significant other: Roommate. I decided to do it with my roommate because, even though I have a boyfriend and that would've worked out perfectly with the marriage agreement, he lives in another country. Therefore, I think that doing it with my roommate is a good idea because I share a lot with her since we live together. What she said when I told her about the assignment: She replied, "Is this for a grade?" It was funny because she couldn't believe that this was a real assignment. Her major is biomedical sciences so she expects homework to be related to numbers or to write papers. I had to explain her the Marriage Agreement by Alix and Martin. Also, some terms we've used in the class before. Finally, she agreed on helping me out. Tasks or chores that caused the most disagreement: The task that caused the most disagreement was the one on which we have to report to maintenance if there's any problem in the apartment (we added this one). I claimed that she should do this all the time because my English is not perfect and I struggle a lot; I can't express my ideas very well. She said that that's not fair because calling maintenance requires a lot of time due to the bureaucratic procedures the owners of the apartment complex have established (calling, paper filling, staying at the apartment while they fix the problem, etc.). Just because you are best friends with someone or your friend suggested that you live with them doesn't necessarily mean that they will be the ideal roommate for you. If you have determined what you are looking for in a roommate you can begin your search. You would first have to go through all of your friends to see if they were looking for a place to stay. According to the Carl ThinkSociology textbook, "There are 37million people that live in poverty. Members of the lower class often live paycheck to paycheck if they even have a job" (Carl Sociology, pg. 126). In this short essay, I will explain what possible class I and my roommate would be in and a do these classes really determine your state of being poor or not? According to our Society's social class system, my roommate and I since we are living together would both be considered in the functioning lower class system. Based upon our income, we are not quite in the middle class sector but we are living comfortably in the lower class. We often live paycheck to paycheck but after all the bills are paid we also have some money left over to save, go out with friends or buy other necessary items that we might need or want. We also have money left over to buy food. We do not quite have the effect of poverty if I so speak. We live in a decent two bedroom apartment; we have a dog and have everything that need and good ... You may even fear being forced to share a room with an anti–social, anti–fun hermit who never leaves the room. Such extremes are not very likely but no one's perfect. You and your roommate will probably not see eye to eye about something at some point during the year. When that happens, you can benefit from the experience of others. We've seen many of our tenants find great roommates, and others find roommates who were not that perfect fit. It's unlikely that you'll end up with a roommate that is dangerous, but if you aren't careful about your screening process, you can find one who is unsuitable. A roommate is a great way to live in an area that you might not be able to afford normally. Therefore, according to "Dictionary.com", the meaning of "roommate" is "a person who is assigned to share or shares a room or apartment with another or others". Personally, I believe that my roommates are not only the people who share the house or live with me, but also they are my closed friends who know me well. In my mind, the definition of roommates is people who I regard as both friends and family members at the same time. Since I studied abroad from China, I have started my new life–style, which was my first time to live with roommates. In the beginning, I hoped that I could have roommates who were kind and friendly. Everyone in this "family" had the responsibility to do something. However, everyone gave without expectation of a reward. In conclusion, the definition of "roommates" in my mind has three different meanings. The first meaning was the common meaning which is people who shared apartment with me. The second meaning was friendship, which was the true relationship in my point of view. It may be hard, but talking about the rooming situation early can do a lot to limit the ending damage that may occur if you room with someone that is not compatible with your personality or if you wait until the last minute to take care of business. This damage may even be losing a friend over something that could have been fixed. Another part to talking with your friends early is honesty. Description And Description Of My Roommate Essay Part A: Descriptions The subject I've chosen to write about is when my roommate (A) at the college residence wasn't pulling his weight in cleaning duties. He had never lived without his parents before and must not have realized he had to clean up after himself. Time and time again, I would have to wash his (A) dishes and pick up after him. At first, we got along super well and for a while I avoided confronting him because I figured a few dishes here and there wasn't too bad. We'd often have parties at the house and he would never help us clean up the mess the following day. Finally about half way through the semester, I confronted him and we came to a compromise that he would clean on certain days, and I would clean up the other days. It went well for the first week and then on his cleaning days he'd say I'll clean up tomorrow just leave everything where it is. Sure enough, three days later, nothing had been cleaned and the house was a disaster. I spoke to my two other roommates (B&C) about him and they agreed that they were sick of doing his chores and living with him too. The root cause must have been personality differences. In which I mean that myself, and my two other roommates (B&C) standard of cleanliness was not the same as roommate A's. My expectations went over the roof, especially after we spoke over the telephone and text messages prior to our moving day. I looked forward to meeting and learning from you about the campus and academic opportunities at Virginia Tech (VT). Since then, our relationships have deteriorated because you consistently violated our roommate agreement. I value our friendship and hoping this letter would offer plans to help us restore some of the trusts that we've built at the beginning of the school year. To promote academic success and personal growth at VT, we sat down the first week of school to establish our expectations... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this late 90s comedy, a group of six friends try to navigate their lives while living in New York City. The show Friends shows the highs and the lows of being an adult and trying to juggle love lives, work lives, and friendships. In "The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate", it starts the show off with Monica, Ross, Chandler, and Phoebe all sitting down in a coffee house called Central Perk. In reality, the group is like an adult version of The Breakfast Club. There is Joey the "jock", Monica the "smarty pants", Chandler the "joker", Phoebe the "weirdo", Ross the "nerd", and Rachel the "princess". The group is real, showing different personalities clash together, like real friends would. The characters are like ordinary people who get rained on, like Rachel, and who get divorced, like Ross. The imperfections are crucial because it brings in realism. In this episode, the viewers see that Rachel is from a higher class and is used to having everything handed to her on a silver platter. The rest of the group didn't come from families that are filthy rich, they always had to earn what they got through hard work and determination. The morning after Rachel spends her first night at Monica's, she tries to make coffee in the morning, but fails. This shows just how alienated she was from the world that the rest of the group understands. Even though she has no work experience, she attempts to get a job, proving how determined she is to become ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Great Debate About College Roommates The Great Debate about College Roommates In most cases, for people who once attended college they either consider it the best years of their life or a horror show. They may feel this way because of the experiences they had, classes they took, or the people they met, like perhaps their roommate. In the New York Times article, "ACollege Education Should Include Rooming with a Stranger", Anna Altman explains the effects of having a roommate in college. Anna Altman claims college freshman already have a lot to adjust to in their first weeks, including the new living arrangements in the life of the dorms and meeting a new person that now shares the same home as them. With the help of preference options when applying for dormitory housing, the simple aspects of assigning two college attendees to one room has improved over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Altman adds that even though colleges try their best to make the match between roommates as smooth as possible, it does not always work out that way for everyone during their first year away from home. Altman suggests, "...that approach is no longer sufficient". She quotes Natasha Singer, also a reporter for the New York Times, saying "...the problem of getting stuck with an incompatible freshman –year roommate can be expensive for the college. Moving students around within dorms can be a headache, but there's even more at stake: the risk that students will be so unhappy that they might transfer out of the college before sophomore year." The issues Altman presents through Natasha Singer's words for unhappy roommates in college are both direct and indirect. Some of the horror stories told by alumni are about the struggle they went through to find the right roommate after many failed attempts of changing dorms and testing uncharted waters with a new peer. Some of these unfortunate people consider the struggles too great and quit college all together. In turn, colleges lose tuition money ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
