1. Lutherans for Life Essay Contest 2015
What: Essay Contest on the Sanctity of Life
Who: Students in Grades 9-12
(Any high school student in a Lutheran school or church)
Sponsored by the Council of Federation Presidents, Lutherans for Life
Contest Guidelines:
1. Students will write a pro-life essay based on the 2015 Conference theme:
Created, Redeemed, Called and Isaiah 43:1 ESV:
“But now says the Lord – he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O
Israel: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by my name, you
are mine.’”
2. Example essay topics are: abortion, the handicapped, infanticide, cloning, stem
cell research or euthanasia.
3. Essays should include the student’s name, grade (identify school or church) and
email address. If entries are submitted by a teacher or pastor, please include
name and email address. This information should be submitted on the title
page. Please also fill out the student information on the enclosed rubric and
send it along with the essay submission. All sources for references, statistics
and quotes should be incorporated within the essay. The essay should be up to
750 words.
4. Entries are due to Lutherans for Life of Michigan by February 28, 2015. Please
send the essay along with title page and rubric to:

5. All participants will receive a certificate and the winner will be automatically
entered in the National Lutherans for Life Essay Contest.
6. Prize for the National winner: $250 and free registration to the October 30-31,
2015 Conference at the Creation Museum, Petersburg, KY.
7. All entries become the property of Lutherans for Life.
