A person has past due bills totaling $3,400 that have been sent to a bill collector as well as $8,000 in hospital bills also being collected. They were advised not to pay the bills off because it could hurt their credit more and are currently paying on a student loan. They want to get out of debt without filing for bankruptcy or using a debt relief company.

so my husband has 3,400 in past bills that is at a bill collector.. he also have
e 8,000 in hospital bills that is at a bill collector.. someone told him not to
pay them off because it will hurt his credit more..we are currently paying on hi
s student loan.. so what should we do..how do we get out of debt we dont want to
