3. Purpose of the Program
Support and assist men of color in their
adjustment to the campus and surrounding area
Provide a space where their experiences are
shared, accepted, and validated
Foster academic success and assist in their
personal growth
4. Mission Statement
Brother to Brother is an undergraduate social and culturally based
personal and professional development group for male students and
faculty of color at Allegheny College.
Brother to Brother welcomes all male Afro-diasporic, Latino, Asian, and
Native American males associated with Allegheny College regardless of
economic background, religious affiliation, or sexual orientation.
Brother to Brother subscribes to an emphasis on the principles of
leadership, scholarship, and self-support. The group and facilitators seek
to provide a space where students of color can speak openly and freely
about some of the issues that men of color face at Allegheny College and
in American society.
We also seek to provide a space where students can feel free to be
themselves, enjoy each other’s company and build friendships. Men
involved in the group demonstrate a style of membership that aids the
maturation process and prepares them to assume responsibility as
educated global citizens.
