3. Goals for today
• Find out what is meant by electronics.
• Be able to identify and state the function of basic
electronic components.
• See how circuits are designed both manual and by using
software.
• Be able to draw simple circuit diagrams.
4. What is electronics
• This is how components or items control and conduct electricity
around a network called a circuit. In electronic there are three
areas:
Input Process Output
• The input is the power source, the process are the components
and how they work together and finally the output is the desired
out come.
• These components have gotten smaller and smaller giving us
more portable electronic devices.
7. Strip board & Breadboard
Strip board are boards of
epoxy resin with copper
strips with hole in it.
These boards allow us to
solder components to
them.
Breadboard this is used
when you are designing a
circuit, it does not require
solder to join circuits.

• All details on blog if
you have any trouble
send on a post.
• Copy the circuit in
symbol form into your
copy
10. Home work
Complete the work sheet.
Revise the slide show on parallel and series circuits
available on blog.
Redraw the given circuit on the Yenka software in circuit
form and answer the following:
1. What type of circuit is this?
2. What is the voltage drop between bulb 2 and 3?
