- Brian Utley from Calgary made waves this morning at Toronto's Ashbridge's Bay, Summerville Pool earning the coveted title of 2007 National Cannonball Champion at the Trident Splash National Cannonball Championship. Beating out nine finalists from across the country who had the cannonballs to compete, Utley took the Champion title, bragging rights and a cash prize of $2,000! Celebrating its third year, the Trident Splash National Cannonball Championship is the summer's coolest competition for Canucks. Regional finals were held in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal. Cannonballers also entered the competition at www.cannonballchampionship.ca . At today's Championship, the finalists splashed their way into cannonballing history. Each performed three cannonballs off a 5 metre platform for a panel of judges.
