Dear Judges:
My name is Brandon Morisset, and I am the youngest of three brothers in a family of five. Being
the youngest I always had to live up to expectations set by my older brothers so when it came to
the senior project I knew I had to blow them out of the water. I decided that because guitars had
such a huge impact in my life I would like to build my own. However, for my goals in life I
wasn’t planning on making guitars a career. I’m actually looking to pursue a career in healthcare.
My product as you will see is a semi-hollow body guitar and it coincides with my research paper.
The research paper explored the problem between quality and funds in all engineered products.
The whole process of building a guitar was not easy, and we faced many problems such as
unevenly painting the body, and the gap between the bridge pickup and the body of the guitar. A
major achievement was just the fact that we finished the guitar on time, to be honest. Will all the
components that go into creating the guitar, a week before the due date I had doubts that I would
finish in time.
The research paper dealt with engineers, and it actually is a type of engineer that builds guitars
called luthiers. Since engineers build guitars the research paper relates perfectly to the career.
Through this whole process I've learned that even though I may be a slight procrastinator, and a
little timid to talk businesslike with adults I can still get the job done if need be. After building
the guitar and noticing how stressful and uneventful the process was I realized that I did not want
to pursue an engineering career anymore. I am going to go back to my first career choice of
nursing and get my BSN at Kennesaw State University.
Truthfully, even though I hated the senior project and realized that I could have done so many
other important things with the time, I have seen the importance in it all. The project is almost a
chance for kids to go out into the real world and experience part of a real career for almost a
whole year. But all in all I actually enjoyed the project and now I have a beautiful guitar to learn
and play on. Thank you judges for your time and patience.
Sincerely,
Brandon Morisset
