Assessment & Male and Female Urinary and Reproductive SystemsDiscussion 6This week
you have studied mental health (psychological); urinary and reproductive systems of the
male and female in advanced physical assessment. While this is a diverse set of advanced
physical assessment skills where do you place your greatest level of confidence and what
areas need more development. Of these areas of advanced physical assessment where to
you struggle in your nursing practice most when providing patient-centered
education? American Sentinel N522PE Module 6: Mental Health Assessment & Male and

skill development, or professional development related to reproductive health and provide
additional โclinical pearlsโ learned this week. In other words, please include primary

systems/Sample Solution for Discussion 6Being adept in reproductive systems and
knowledge about womenโs health is not my forte. Reproductive health of men and women
throughout the lifespan has its unique complexities and challenges in healthcare. It covers a
wide range of sexual health promotion and preventive services. The healthcare is
continually evolving to adapt to the many changes and diversities in health delivery in
terms of education, government regulations and myriad of treatment models. Reproductive
health takes more than just knowing the concept of pathophysiological processes and
treatment of illness. It needs mental health immersion in the profession. Thorough physical
assessment may provide clues on the impact of gender on health such as reproductive life
planning, family dynamics, mental health in sexuality, domestic violence and abuse,
sexually-related infections, diagnostic screening procedures, reproductive illness, substance
abuse and genetic risks. The list is endless specially with the current generation. The rise of
the LGBT fighting for their โrightsโ wanting to change religion and constitution. I believe
that a nurse practitioner or anybody in the nursing profession has to be equipped with
knowledge and legal faculties to deal with the cultural and social sensitivities that leech into
the delivery of reproductive health services. Mental health nursing sparked my interest
2. about the power of mental energy. Itโs intriguing to know what the patients think in relation
to their specific or overall health status. Itโs probably true that mind rules the body. In
nursing practice, no matter what area of specialization, the nurses subconsciously deal with
the patientโs mental health in relation to the illness. In my clinical experience, the disease
progression and complications are partly rooted from patientsโ perceptions of the disease
process and health condition. This behavior impacts positive/negative responses which
affect outcome and recovery from health disequilibrium. Hall et al. (2017) explored
factors why some women prefer providers for reproductive health as sources for their
psychiatric health and primary care. The study implicated a timely and pertinent role of the
reproductive health professionals in services for women and promotion of social wellbeing.
In this generation, reproductive health emerges as an umbrella covering full range of
gynecological care versus the traditional concept of maternal and child
services. References:Bikker, A. P., Fitzpatrick, B., Murphy, D., Forster, L., & Mercer, S. W.

AMHoney,I really enjoyed reading your post. I too find the mind and the patientโs well being
in all aspects of mental health intriguing. I began my nursing career in a geriatric outpatient
psychiatric hospital setting. It was very rewarding helping patients adapt to their plan of
care and medications while providing the therapeutic communication and education
needed for stability. I feel the education aspect with the patient and their families was
endless. Seeing an elderly person, not only inflicted with mental health issues, but seeing
them abused as well was difficult for me. The physical assessment and the mental health
screening is key when the patient comes in with their significant other or family
member.According to Dains et., al (2016) when talking with the patient, try to assess the
total picture of ones life and what they are dealing with by utilizing the mnemonic BATHE,
obtaining their Background, Affect, Trouble, Handling, and Empathy. To this day I find it
challenging and difficult when interviewing a patient, as an obstetric nurse in regards to
assessing if the patient feels safe in their environment with the related issues going on in
our world today.ReferencesDains, J., Baumann, L., & Scheibel, P. (2016). Advanced health
