4. Mathew 13:44 “The kingdom of heaven is like
treasure hidden in a field. When a man found
it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and
sold all he had and bought that field.
45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a
merchant looking for fine pearls. 46 When he
found one of great value, he went away and
sold everything he had and bought it.
UNMATCHED VALUE
5. INTRODUCTION
Talk of “all eggs in one basket”
This is “one egg in one basket”
The man sold all for this one
thing.
6. WHAT MAKES ONE EGG IN ONE
BASKET WORTH IT?
It has the following effects:
• Brings out the
Extraordinary in the
ordinary
• Separates the
invaluable among the
valuable
• Makes everything worth
nothing
7. BRINGS OUT THE
EXTRAORDINARY IN THE
ORDINARY
Mathew 13:44 “The
kingdom of heaven is
like treasure hidden in
a field. When a man
found it, he hid it
again, and then in his
joy went and sold all
he had and bought
that field.
8. BRINGS OUT THE
EXTRAORDINARY IN THE
ORDINARY
Colossians 1:27 To them God
has chosen to make known
among the Gentiles the
glorious riches of this
mystery, which is Christ in
you, the hope of glory.
2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have
this treasure in jars of clay to
show that this all-surpassing
power is from God and not
from us.
9. SEPARATES THE INVALUABLE
AMONG THE VALUABLE
Mathew 13:45 “Again,
the kingdom of
heaven is like a
merchant looking for
fine pearls. 46 When
he found one of great
value, he went away
and sold everything
he had and bought it.
10. SEPARATES THE INVALUABLE
AMONG THE VALUABLE
Galations 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and
self-control. Against such things there is no
law.
Galations 5:18 But if you are led by the
Spirit, you are not under the law.
Philippians 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ
and to die is gain.
12. Living a life led by the Spirit brings to
us the invaluable treasures in life.
13. MAKES EVERYTHING
WORTH NOTHING
Mathew 13:44 “The kingdom of heaven is
like treasure hidden in a field. When a man
found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy
went and sold all he had and bought that
field.
46 When he found one of great value, he
went away and sold everything he had and
bought it.
15. MAKES EVERYTHING
WORTH NOTHING
Philippians 3:8 What is more, I
consider everything a loss
because of the surpassing worth
of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord,
for whose sake I have lost all
things. I consider them garbage,
that I may gain Christ.

19. DISCUSSION
1. What does “giving up everything”
for one thing actually mean?
2. How can we enjoy what God has
given us without holding on to them?
3. What prevents us from grasping the
invaluable? How can we overcome it?

Fruits of the spirit, kingdom goals vs. values, achievements
The Master was searching for a vessel to use;
On the shelf there were many - which one would He choose?
Take me, cried the gold one, I'm shiny and bright,
I'm of great value and I do things just right.
My beauty and luster will outshine the rest
And for someone like You, Master, gold would be the best!
The Master passed on with no word at all;
He looked at a silver urn, narrow and tall;
I'll serve You, dear Master, I'll pour out Your wine
And I'll be at Your table whenever You dine,
My lines are so graceful, my carvings so true,
And my silver will always compliment You.
Unheeding the Master passed on to the brass,
It was widemouthed and shallow, and polished like glass.
Here! Here! cried the vessel, I know I will do,
Place me on Your table for all men to view.
Look at me, called the goblet of crystal so clear,
My transparency shows my contents so dear,
Though fragile am I, I will serve You with pride,
And I'm sure I'll be happy in Your house to abide.
The Master came next to a vessel of wood,
Polished and carved, it solidly stood.
You may use me, dear Master, the wooden bowl said,
But I'd rather You used me for fruit, not for bread!
Then the Master looked down and saw a vessel of clay.
Empty and broken it helplessly lay.
No hope had the vessel that the Master might choose,
To cleanse and make whole, to fill and to use.
Ah! This is the vessel I've been hoping to find,
I will mend and use it and make it all Mine.
I need not the vessel with pride of its self;
Nor the one who is narrow to sit on the shelf;
Nor the one who is bigmouthed and shallow and loud;
Nor one who displays his contents so proud;
Not the one who thinks he can do all things just right;
But this plain earthy vessel filled with My power and might.
Then gently He lifted the vessel of clay.
Mended and cleansed it and filled it that day.
Spoke to it kindly. There's work you must do,
Just pour out to others as I pour into you.
