JW Marriott Surabaya unveiled its spectacular refurbishment in
march 2012.
After installing Brintons carpets 16 years ago, the hotel owner
and family had no hesitation engaging Brintons again to create a
stunning collection of intricately ornate designs to furnish the

hotel’s ballroom, prefunction area, lobby lounge and grand
staircase.

3. Case Study: InterContinental Hotel, Dallas, USA
The Brintons team in Dallas were approached by Toby Bishop, the interior
designer at Forrest Perkins, to create an impressive carpet design that could be
used in the lobby and on the floor of the guest lifts at the InterContinental Dallas.
Brintons has worked with Forrest Perkins to successfully complete other hospitality
projects and this assignment marked a continuation of that relationship.

What was the client brief?
The design brief that Forrest Perkins supplied to Brintons incorporated inspirational
topogrephical maps that illustrated the generic contours of land, small rivers and
lakes, as well as 12 chosen colors.
Forrest Perkins wanted the carpet design to have depth and to work on various
levels to create a three-dimensional effect with drop shadows and highlights. It was
decided that a smaller sepeating element was required as an undercurrent for the
InterContinental Hotel, Dallas, USA
main design so that the whole pattern could be held together and would be suitable
for use in an interior space that is subjected to a high level of foot traffic.
Describe the solution that was delivered?
The short deadline for this project meant Brintons had to work closely with Forrest
Perkins to realise a suitable final design.
The design that was installed at the hotel features a small patterned background
design that has been overlaid with bold, uniform patterns that articulate the intricate
linear shapes that are created in nature when rivers lakes and land are at play.
These stylish patterns and shapes are coloured in different shades of blue, brown
and beige to give the design great depth and stature.
