Initial teaching license
One year non-renewable
Professional

3. Initial Teaching
License
This is the first license you will obtain after you've
completed the following:
Bachelor's degree
Teacher education program
Pass PRAXIS PLT & Subject/Content Assessment tests
This license is good for two years before you can
upgrade to a professional license

4. One Year Non-Renewable
Complete teacher
education program
but have not passed
the PRAXIS tests
CANNOT BE
RENEWED
Teach for one year
while completing
testing requirements
Good for one year (July
1-June 30)

5. Professional
License
A PROFESSIONAL LICENSE IS GOOD FOR FIVE YEARS
Once you are hired by a district and
you complete your mentoring. You
can apply for a professional license
which is completed by you and your
administrator.
