2. India is a country with diverse communities,
religions, and customs. There are different
languages spoken across the country.
People live in harmony despite the differences in
religion, culture, and language. India is a country
where a lot of tradition is observed where marriage
is concerned.
3. India believes in the match making process for
marriage, and this belief has been carried over for
years. Families have always believed in following the
tradition of matching horoscopes or Kundlis of their
children before they get married. The belief is very
strong that marriage is made in heaven, and they
follow the wishes of the Gods. The Kundli reflects
their identity, work profile, culture, language, rituals,
and religion.
4. Most Indians prefer their children to marry a person
from the same caste. People usually do not
encourage inter-caste marriages. The exceptions are
made only in love marriages. With changing times,
parents nowadays do allow for inter-caste marriages
as their children want to marry of their own choice.
While specific communities in the country like Sikhs
and Muslims do not have the procedure of matching
horoscopes or Kundlis, Hindus mostly follow the
tradition.
6. The compatibility level of the couple depends on the
position of the Moon in the twenty-seven
Nakshatras. There are a few essential points to note
while matching horoscopes in a Hindu wedding.
-Varna indicates the caste system from the highest
to the lowest, wherein the groom should be of a
higher caste than the bride. The Indian caste system
has the Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, and Shudra.
7. - Vasya is to control. This aspect is considered to see
who is the dominant of the two individuals and is
calculated based on the horoscope. The Moon signs
of both individuals should fall in the same group, for
maximum compatibility. Then 2 points are given.
8. - Tara indicates the matching of the Nakshatras of
the bride and groom. 3 points are given for
maximum compatibility.
- Yoni indicates the physical compatibility and
attraction the couple has for each other. The
maximum score is 4 points based on the fourteen
animal names.
9. Grah Maitri is indicative of the friendship quotient
between the planets of the horoscopes of the bride
and groom, that can get 5 points.
- Gana that denotes the three qualities defining the
nature of a human being - Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas

Devata. It is believed the bride having more points
makes a good match. A maximum of 6 points is given.

horoscope signs of the bride and the groom. The
maximum points are 7
-Nadi is the pulse, which is of three kinds – Aadi
(beginning), Madhya (middle), and Antya(end).This
gives a maximum of 8 points for compatibility.
11. All the points of each test are combined to give a
total, which can be a maximum of 36 points. If the
total indicates below 18 points, then the
compatibility is considered to be low, in which case
the marriage is not permitted. If the scores are
higher, it indicates chances for a successful marriage.

when it concerns marriage. With changing times and
uncertainty, they prefer to value tradition and ensure
a secure future for their children.
