2. Cancer is a disease that affects millions of
people worldwide, causing immense physical
and emotional pain.
The key to fighting this silent enemy lies in
early detection and raising awareness about
various types of cancer.
The ASTITVA Foundation, an esteemed
organization based in Meerut, has taken
proactive steps to empower individuals with
knowledge and support, particularly when it
comes to breast cancer and cervical cancer
awareness for women.
Introduction
3. Understanding Breast
Cancer
Breast cancer is one of the most common
types of cancer, affecting both men and
women. However, it is predominantly found in
women. It occurs when there is an
uncontrollable growth of abnormal cells in the
breast tissue. Symptoms can include lumps in
the breast, changes in breast shape, nipple
discharge, and skin dimpling. Regular self-
examinations, along with mammograms and
clinical breast exams, are vital for early
detection.
4. Early Signs Of Breast
Cancer
Lump in the Breast: The most common sign is the
discovery of a painless lump in the breast or under
the arm. Any unusual lump should be promptly
examined.
Changes in Breast Shape or Size: Noticeable
changes in the shape or size of the breast, such as
asymmetry or dimpling, should be taken seriously.
Nipple Abnormalities: Changes in the nipple, such
as inversion, discharge (other than breast milk), or
sudden tenderness, can be warning signs.
5. The Significance of
Cervical Cancer Awareness
Cervical cancer, unlike breast cancer,
solely affects women. It develops in
the cervix, the lower part of the uterus,
and is primarily caused by the human
papillomavirus (HPV). Unfortunately,
this type of cancer often goes
undetected until later stages, making
awareness campaigns even more
crucial.
6. Early Symtoms Of Cervical
Cancer
Abnormal Vaginal Bleeding: This is the most
common early sign. It can occur between periods,
after menopause, or after sexual intercourse. Any
unexplained or irregular bleeding should be
evaluated.
Pelvic Pain: Persistent pain in the pelvis, lower back,
or during sexual intercourse can be an early
symptom.
Unusual Vaginal Discharge: Increased or unusual
vaginal discharge that may be watery, bloody, or
have a foul odor can be a sign.
