- 1. Ducting Operative Cleaning Assured Cleaning have recently commissioned 35 of their technicians to undergo advanced ductwork cleaning training. The course taken was designed to show them how to take their expertise in cleaning kitchen ducts and use it to learn how to clean air conditioning ducts. This was intended to ensure they could become compliant with: • TR19 & LPS 2084 guidelines • BSEN 15780 & EC582:2004 Quality Standard regulations The two-day course covered kitchen extracts to BESA TR19 guidelines as well as ‘supply and extract’ air conditioning systems to BS15780. The latter covering all aspects of air conditioning systems, inlet and outlet louvers, dampers, air turns, fire dampers, silencers, access panel locations, access panel cutting and hands on experience with air conditioning systems. Through completing the course the team learned an array of new skills, greatly widening the scope of the work they carry out. They now know how to; • Use specialist cleaning machinery such as a Rotary Brush machine • Use an Air Mover and Remote Cameras • Physically fit new Access Panels for air conditioning systems • Explain to others how Air Conditioning systems operate • Understand the latest TR19 Standards and testing procedures • Use a DIFCO Wet Film Thickness Gauge in accordance with required standards Although there are similarities between duct cleaning and air conditioning cleaning, the latter poses a few small differences that make it a slightly different type of clean. Kitchen ducts are wide inside with a lot of free space, the reason being that they are designed to transport air out of the room and therefore, because hot air rises, the duct only needs minimal suction to remove the smoke/air. Air conditioners are much thinner and are often more obstructed due to needing to expel air a lot more vigorously. Therefore a smaller channel where air is forced straight down rather than swirling around inside the pipe is the most efficient way to do this. Do you need cleaning services in the North West?
