Education & Change
Diversity is defined to me as
inclusion to different race,
ethnic, culture, and
perspective. Respecting
human relationships and their
journey to learning in a
multicultural environment that
requires diversity in education.
Learning the differences
amongst languages, cultures,
and ethnics are elements to
respect the perspective of
diversity.
According to Armstrong, Henson,
& Savage “innovation changes
the way individuals perceive the
world and view reality, that will
be change in the values,
aspirations, and attitudes of the
young (Armstrong, Henson, &
Savage, 2009, p.86).
Multicultural learners experience
many barriers in learning a
successful education. Instead of
thinking diversity and planning
diverse lesson plans; I learned as
a teacher I must allow
multicultural learners to teach
about their culture within the
class.
These methods aids the teacher
and fellow students the
opportunity to understand detail
elements of various ethnic
backgrounds. Allowing diversity
students to participate in
instructional learning can
encourage and influences them to
learn; while encouraging others to
think and learn for themselves.
A major element that
influenced the methods I plan
to utilize in my classroom is to
become knowledgeable and
conscious of various culture
backgrounds for effective
teaching strategies.
Another element I intend to
utilize is allowing diverse
students the opportunity to
provide their knowledge and their
own reflection on of their culture.
And a final element is think
independently and contribute to
the change in attributes of
multicultural learning.
