• Camera shots mainly concentrate on making the artist or
band the main focus of the video , and it is also used to
emphasis the emotion of the song
• Close ups are very vital in order to show great lip syncing as
well as the emotion and words of the song.
3. Editing
• Depending on the pace of the song, it will ultimately effect
the pace of the editing, for example of the song is slow the
editing would not be so fast and have a lot of cuts into it.
• Jump cuts are very common in music videos, it allows
transitions from one location to the next in a fast edit.
• OTHER edits such as fades and dissolves are quite common
too.
4. MISE-EN-SCENE
• Mis-en-scene is placing objects/ items within the scene to
however you feel is best to resemble your song.
• This is very important in reflecting the meaning and tone of
the song.
5. Lighting
• Lighting can be used to emphasis certain mood i.e Adele’s song
“someone like you’ her editing and lighting is dim, portraying her
lyrics in her song which is sad and emotional.
6. Sound
• The video’s main focus is on the song , however in some
music videos background sound can also be added i.e. wind,
crying, laughter etc to give the music video a more realistic
touch.
7. Props
• Props add significance however little or bold they are.
